From the President

Welcome to the first edition of the Queenscliff Golf Club e-news!

The club is coming along in leaps and bounds with plenty of exciting things already happening and a lot more in the pipeline – this is an exciting time for the club!

There are new mats in the practice nets and the black tee on the 3rd is so close to being playable. The great success of the last two Sunday Music Sessions has allowed us to invest in new tables, chairs and marquees for future events. We have exciting things in place for the clubhouse – and watch out for our new website in the very near future!

Happy Golfing!

Spectrum on the Green – and the clubs eye catching new red marquees.

We knew our club was ranked up there with the best.... now everyone else does as well!!

HUGE congratulations to all the team (Grounds staff, Staff, Committee, Volunteers, Members) who have worked so hard over the last 12+ months.... your efforts have been recognised!

We ranked number 56!

Reminders and Updates

We have had a few incidences on the causeway with members and visitors not complying with the road rules, traffic lights and security. Please make sure you adhere to all the road rules to avoid suspension from the island (via Defence).

QGC wishes to congratulate Jake Sizer on his new appointment as Golf Course superintendent. We are sure you would all agree that the course is in one of the best conditions that it has ever been, and we are very much looking forward to seeing how much the course continuities to improve! Well done to Jake on your appointment and to the whole course team on their wonderful work.

The QGC had a visit from MP Libby Coker last week. It was a great opportunity for us to be heard by key Government figures on some key challenges that the club faces. Watch this space!

Jake, Kelvin and all the Grounds team have been working hard to get the new black tee ready! 161 meters (exact measurements to come) and a little more water to make this hole a fun challenge!

Easter Sunday with Wendy Stapleton & Friends

What another fabulous Sunday Music Session! As always there was lots of dancing & laughter...even the grey and blustery weather couldn't stop the fun!

Gals on the Green

We’ve just commenced our second annual ‘Gals on the Green’. We had a keen group of women start with a ‘come and try’ day on Thursday 27th with Mal. They went through the essentials of holding a club correctly and stance in the dry of the clubhouse before braving the wet and windy weather and hitting the driving range.

They begin their 5 week clinic from May 4th. So if you see some new faces around the club please say Hi!

Krumm’s Café @ QGC

We are very excited to welcome Sam and his team to QGC on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays brining a slice of their very popular Hesse street café to the club!

Pennant teams update

2023 Division 4 Pennant team (L to R) Dave Thomas, Murray Warren, Darren Shapter, Kirk Whelan, Michael Havelburg, Michael McSween, Dave Watson.

Our Division 4 pennant team commenced their season at the Sands Golf Course competing against Ocean Grove. Unfortunately the results didn’t go our way this round, going down 4.5 to 2.5.

Their second round was played at Torquay RACV against Lonsdale Links, 4.5 to 2.5 in favour of Lonsdale Links.

Round Three held at Ocean Grove Golf Club against East Geelong again going down 4 to 3.

Our Handicap Pennant team have been faced with continual team player availability challenges – last week was the first time they have had a full team. They players who have been available have represented the club well.
