Getting a hole-in-one is an electrifying experience that every golfer dreams of. At first, there’s a moment of disbelief as you watch the ball fly through the air, land on the green, and roll straight into the cup. Time almost seems to slow down as you process what just happened. And if you’re the first to achieve this on our 3rd*, not only will you experience all this, but you’ll win a Residential 3kw Solar System valued at $3500 from Sunny Solar!

We’ve had some great scores come through this week. Saturday was a very warm day for 125 Stableford players. Well done to LornaLawsonwithascoreof42!

My thanks to Paul Lappin for introducing me to the new chair of the Golf Leaders Network. This group is a national network of golf club leaders committed to sharing knowledge and experience about how their clubs operate; designing professional development opportunities; advancing gender parity and fostering the next generation of golf club leaders. This network will provide insight and help to improve governance, growth, profile, communication and improving member experience. I have been invited to join this group, and I look forward to connecting with like-minded leaders who share a passion for golf.

Good luck to everyone playing in the 3rd round of the Women’s ClubChampionships.

See you on the course, Barb

Melbourne band, Bob & The Boomers present an eclectic mix of blues standards, original jazz and reworked rock songs that give a whole new meaning to the word bent. They’re fun and fabulous. https://bobandtheboomers.weebly.com Come Back Again to our favourite beer garden. Money? No cover charge but bring some. Mama said there’d be Days Like This. You’re Footloose so Let’s Dance – Long as I can see the Light! See you Sunday but, come Stormy Monday, I’ll be Gone.

This week my staff and I managed to tick off a few extra jobs than the usual maintenance schedule. The greens had a light dethatching with our verti-cutting heads and clean up. This helps us thin out the leaf on the greens to promote a smoother playing surface.

An application of wetting agent was put out on our greens late in the evening on Wednesday. There was a dry patch forming on the greens and backs of some surrounds. This will help penetrate the water into the profile and also help retain the moisture when we irrigate.

I spent a full day working with our irrigation contractor fixing major problems on the course and programming the system correctly. Over last summer and throughout spring, I created a list of issues that could not be solved. We managed to tick off the majority of these problems. We hope to see improvements to areas that weren’t getting properly irrigated soon. But this is just the beginning of getting it all correct.

With the weather this weekend hitting mid-30s, a lot of strain will be put on the course and a lot of the colour we currently have on the fairways will be lost. We will do everything we can to manage water and turf quality. Our invention of the water tanker has officially finished. Next week we will take it out on its maiden voyage, which will hopefully allow us to put some sort of water on the fairways. But let’s hope we have some decent rain in the near future.

Happy Golfing, Jake
