LET’S SHARE

Happy New Year!
I hope you’ve had a joyful holiday season filled with family, friends, and maybe even a few rounds of golf. As we step into 2025, I’d like to share my excitement for the year ahead at our club.
2024 was a fantastic year for golf at Queenscliff - from competitive tournaments and charity events to our regular social rounds, it has been wonderful to see the course buzzing with activity. A huge thank you to all members for your participation, sportsmanship, and dedication to making this club a place we all enjoy.
Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be even better. We have a packed calendar of events for golfers of all levels. Keep an eye on the app and the newsletter for event announcements and be sure to join in. Kick starting the year we have our junior golf clinic starting on the 13th January. This is totally sponsored through money raised at Batto’s bash and the Queenscliff Point Lonsdale Lions club. A great start to enhance our juniors and to help nurture the next generation of talent.
Our regular weekly competitions will run throughout January and I am looking forward to the 9-hole comp beginning on Mondays for February and March.
There has been much conjecture and talk regarding grade divisions. I have met with SWGA and their advice (informed by GA) is that our regular weekly competitions should be based on a floating grading system - to make it a fairer competition for all. The club championships and other board events should be played to set divisions and, of course, the pennant is graded.
It is also good to understand, that a field of up to 99 players creates 3 divisions and for 100+ players, there are 4 divisions. It has been suggested that we could reduce the grade prizes slightly and increase the $ value of the ball run, thus giving everyone a chance to win their money back. This system was ratified by the committee. Personally, I think this solution is favourable for all our members and similar to what is happening in other clubs in our district.
Here’s to a year of great golf, camaraderie, and continued success for Queenscliff Golf Club. Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to seeing you all on the course soon.
Jim and Ted, our newest crew member, are on course daily with food & bev... don't forget to say
