VALE ANDREW BATSON
17 JULY 2024

To all Club Members,
You will have no doubt heard of the tragic passing of our Club Captain Mr Andrew Batson.
We are all affected by Andrew’s loss and there are no words that can explain what has happened and the distress that people are feeling, particularly his family, his wife Jen and it all seems very surreal.
His mates he grew up with and had close associations will all be impacted by “Batto’s” passing as he was a very gregarious fellow, knew so many people, connected so many people and in a full life was an absolute ball of energy.
He loved his golf, and he loved his golf club and to extend that love to become Captain of the Club was a great credit to him.
We will miss him enormously, not only through the position of Captain but also his connections and his ability to bring ideas and make things happen and whether you ran into Batto in the Clubhouse, on the golf course or in town, he was always a buoyant, optimistic fellow and for him to leave us so soon and so quickly is absolutely tragic and everyone will feel hollow inside.
We will support Jen and family going forward and be mindful of the effect of this on club members and mates who will be equally affected at losing a mate of 40 – 50 years.
To the members who played golf with him every Saturday and his footy club where he will be a great loss as well, it is going to be hard to come to terms with Batto not ducking out to have a dart on the balcony, Batto not in his cart on the golf course, Batto not walking up to you saying “What’s goin on?” and to not see the grey Ute with the canopy and the orange Stihl sticker on the back, it’s hard to explain the emptiness that we will endure.
What a great man and I am so saddened that this communication must go out, but it is fact that Batto passed yesterday, and we have now got to celebrate his life and who he was.
To Jen, and his family our deepest condolences and we already miss our much-loved mate so much.
Yours Sincerely,
