NOV 2023
From the Course The greens height of cut has been lowered to 3.5mm and the roller is back in action. The greens are in good shape for the 5th week post renovation coming into Club Championships. Monthly application of wetting agent on the greens was applied this week helping the water penetrate as well as retain in our sandy hydrophobic soil profile. Re-turfing the damaged patches on the 7th fairway were completed this week. I wasn’t happy with the slow recovery on these spots. So we decided to strip some Santa Ana turf off our nursery and patch those areas. A lot of irrigation and hand watering this week. Especially focusing on the tees after an application of wetting agent and edges of greens where dry patch first occurs. Measuring our moisture content on the greens has become a common practice. This helps us act on any area of the green drying out before it’s noticeable to the eye. Irrigation on the course is still causing headaches. This week we have had multiple new leaks arise to the surface. These areas will be acted on next week when the weather is a little cooler as we have to turn the water off to the front 9 as we can’t isolate each hole. Happy Golfing, Jake
