Astoria Food Pantry

6/1/24

During my time at the Astoria Food Pantry, we folded clothes donated by others, separating them by size and age. It was really fun! Not only did we fold clothes, but we also got to listen to music, and everyone was having a great time. I’d love to go to another Astoria Food Pantry event!!

-Ziling Lin ‘26

Throughout the event at the Astoria Food Pantry, volunteers were given multiple bags of donated clothes that were going to be sent off to those in need. We all had a blast hanging out and vibing to music while folding and sorting the clothes. Overall, it was a great event and definitely a memorable part of my key club experience.

One

Letter 4 All 6/8/24

Regarding One Letter 4 All, we wrote letters and made cards for Asian American elders and youth in a detention center in Alabama. We learned about people from all walks of life and met new people who were writing letters with us in the workshop. We also met the organizers to whom we were giving the letters. My favorite part was that they provided snacks.

-Claire Ying ‘26

At One Letter 4 All, we learned about important nonprofits in our community and used our creativity to help people. We made small cards with drawings and messages that were included with meals for senior citizens and underprivileged youth interested in music. My favorite part was when we finished and got to see the giant stack of drawings and letters we had all made.

During the Badminton Fundraiser that was hosted in Queens High School for Language Studies, my experience there was amazing. The environment there was really chill and the people around me were quite nice. While playing in the actual fundraiser, it was really fun. Playing against some of the other students in the school was challenging but in the end, it was a very enjoyable time to be able to attend this fundraiser and play in it. Although I didn’t win in the end, I had a good time playing and had the opportunity to play badminton in a tournament style again. There were also many admanities like snacks and drinks there to be purchased for spectators to enjoy their time there and watch the games go on and be able to cheer on people if they wanted to. Altogether, the badminton fundraiser was a very enjoyable one and I hope to be able to attend another badminton fundraiser in the future or any other fundraiser that may come up.

Badminton Fundraiser

6/11/24

My time at badminton fundraiser was a wonderful experience, the volunteers were helping selling snacks and drinks to our players! Everyone arrived at the courts and were ready to play according to the brackets our wonderful president made. At the end, everyone had fun and played fairly and we got our winners! Our June badminton fundraiser was a hit and I hope we can have another one next year!

Wellness & Wealth Family Day

6/15/24

During Wellness & Wealth Family Day, many businesses gathered to promote their products and services to families from Flushing. I was assigned to hand out tickets to families so that they could get a professional photo taken. It was fun to see all the different families bonding together on a Saturday afternoon. After the event, we helped to close up the many business stands and sweep the floors that were covered in confetti.

-Sally Chen ‘26

At the Wellness & Wealth Family Day Event, us volunteers helped with management of different stations and witnessed various raffles that were being held. To us, the most intriguing station was the photo booth where attendees got to take lovely photos and get them printed within a few minutes. Overall, the event was pretty smooth.
