ASSIGNMENT 1
LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATIVE DIMENSION OF INTERIOR DESIGN
This assignment focuses on the Professional Conduct and Practice standards, emphasizing ethical behavior, self-discipline, and adherence to professional codes required of Interior Designers registered with the Board of Architects (Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia). It involves examining significant papers that are critical to the profession's legal and regulatory framework, such as the Architects Act 1967, the Architects Rules 1996, the Uniform Building By-Laws 1984, the PAM/MIID Contract, and other applicable legislation.
This assignment encourages democratic dialogue by offering an online forum where all opinions are heard. Participants benefit both personally as well as academically from connections with peers, which promote professional interchange and idea-sharing via electronic communication.
Attending lectures during Week 8 of Professional Development Week (PDW). At the end of the week, students have to submit a reflection or summary of the selected seminars, incorporating personal insights, text, and images/screenshots.
ASSIGNMENT 3
FUTURE PRACTICES (FORMATION OF IDCP)
This project asks students to imagine and redefine the ideal architectural practice of the future. It encourages discussing typical problems that architects and designers have while putting up creative fixes and commercial plans. Students must critically assess Project 1 data to develop the necessary business context. During this process, they will get clarity on their vision and objective for building a design firm inside a certain business structure. The assignment encourages contemplation and learning while implementing excellent business methods to reach this goal.
BY- LAW APPLICATION AND PREREQUISITES FOR BUILDING PLAN SUBMISSION
This assignment applies Project 1 data to AIAD2 projects, requiring students to create an informative report with regulatory, legislative, and technical provisions. The report should include dimensions, drawings, and material data. Assessment is based on understanding the Final AIAD2 Project.
The exercise serves as a guideline for AIAD, highlighting noncompliance areas and outlining corrective steps. This ensures legal conformity before drawings are submitted to the Local Authority.
CONCLUSION
This module has been a beneficial learning journey, allowing me to integrate academic principles with practical applications in architecture and design. It emphasized the importance of understanding professional standards, laws, and technical aspects necessary for generating compatible designs. Working on the tasks helped me gain an improved understanding of the processes involved, particularly when it came to discovering noncompliance and offering improvements. While it was challenging at times, it was rewarding to see how these pieces work together in real-world situations. Overall, this module gave valuable insights and increased my confidence in approaching future projects with greater knowledge and understanding of what is required.
