Puddle Theatre Company presents a relatable one-woman play, written by Jaimie Grainger.

‘Bedsheets’ delves into the life of Imogen, who has taken a complete detour in life, after a breakup shatters her future plans. Returning all the way back to where it started - her childhood bedroom. Sifting through her room’s nostalgic artefacts, Imogen grapples with self discovery, reflects on her past, and contemplates her future.

Moving back home may be taking away her independence and freedom. Adulthood is not what it’s cracked up to be; she is certainly not thirty, flirty and thriving - but nothing beats coming home to fresh Bedsheets.

Ellen Stoakes : Actor

Performing from the age of three, her love of theatre has been a passion throughout her life & education leading her to study Acting for Live and Recorded Media at the Arden School of Theatre graduating in 2022.

Born in Oldham, Ellen has grown up between Frodsham, Flint and Edinburgh and she is now a Manchester-based actor.

Ellen is excited to be performing her debut at this years Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Ellen first started working with Puddle Theatre Company when she auditioned & participated in ‘Overflow’ (March 2023) which led her to audition for ‘Bedsheets’.

She has recently had her first project as a director staged as part of OFFCUT Festival 2024 at 53two in Manchester.

Ellen is excited to be back in Edinburgh during the festival as a performer and is excited for future projects both with Puddle and beyond!

Growing up in West Yorkshire, Jaimie’s opportunities in theatre were few and small, prompting her to move to Manchester and study Theatre and Performance Practice, in which she was rewarded with a first class degree from the University of Salford.

She then went on to achieve a Masters in Screenwriting from Screen Academy Scotland within Edinburgh Napier University and is now looking forward to sharing her first non-student project, Bedsheets, at the renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Jaimie’s experience in theatre has been life-long shifting from performing on stage to creating, writing and directing stories she hopes will resonate with audiences and evoke meaningful thoughts and emotions.

After Fringe, Jaimie hopes to live full-time in Edinburgh to set up a film production company in order to continue making and producing projects she is passionate about and believe deserve a place in the world of arts.

Puddle Theatre Company was formed in 2023 by Teesside-born, Lucy Wrigley and Hull-born, Oleta Wright. Having graduated together in 2022, they felt it necessary to create their own work and help new and upcoming artists. Based in Manchester, Puddle strives to create original productions, giving people of all experiences the chance to grow theatrically. The Edinburgh journey began with a writer outreach. Puddle received some incredible pieces, making the final decision very difficult. After much deliberation, they decided that ‘Bedsheets’ was best suited for their inaugural Fringe vision. Lucy and Oleta are both taking the roles of co-producer & technician for ‘Bedsheets’. While Oleta works as assistant director & Lucy as stage manager.

To date, Puddle Theatre Company have produced three successful, sold-out runs, with an array of talented creatives. The first, a ‘rom-com’ play, ‘Smell the Roses’, for Greater Manchester Fringe. The second, a comedy night full of fantastic performers. Finally, the most recent a medley of 10 minute devised plays with a group of local Manchester writers, directors, comedians and actors.
