A STRANGER TOLD ME TO WRITE A BOOK

Matt Bird founder of PublishU, talks with Emete Ogbomo, an employment lawyer and author of Inspired for Purpose.

Matt: Emete, please introduce yourself to us.

Emete: I am a lawyer, specialising in employment law. Why, you may ask, because it deals with the employment relationship between the employer and the employee and all the various manifold disputes that can happen. I have a prized position as someone passionate about justice and being able to ensure the employer-employee relationship runs smoothly in terms of contracts and related matters.

Matt: When did you first think about writing a book?

Emete: It was two years ago. I was wandering around my local supermarket and chatting with a lady I did not know. In the conversation, she said, I get the impression that you're going to write a book and more than one book. And that resonated with me. So I came home and dusted off my journal of poems, and that’s where it began.

Matt: Did you get the contact details for this lady you met in the supermarket?

Emete: Yes, I did. She's somebody that I intend to invite to my book launch! So yes, we struck up a friendship and remained in contact.

Matt: How did you hear about the

‘Writing My Book’ course, and how did it help you?

Emete: After the supermarket experience, I telephoned a friend to tell her what happened. She explained that she had just signed up for the ‘Writing My Book’ course to write her book in 100 days. She recommended the course and its coach, Matt Bird, so I checked the website and signed up on the same day.

Matt: In what ways did you find the PublishU ‘Writing My Book’ course helpful?

Emete: I wouldn't have had the structure for the book if I had not done that course. It wouldn't have happened without the discipline, the regular community of like-minded individuals, and your push-along coach technique.

Matt: So you have written a book of poems. What is it that inspires you to write a new poem?

Emete: It's like there's a flow. Something happens, or I see something. For example, I spoke to a friend a couple of months ago, and she explained to me the challenges that she was going through. When I put the phone down, a poem began to flow, so I had to get a pen and write it down. I wrote the complete poem there and then.

Matt: So why is your book entitled ‘Inspired for Purpose’?

Emete: A few years ago, there was a lot of social unrest in London, and people took to the streets and looted shops. I was distressed and moved by what I saw. I wrote about the challenges of life, social unrest and political discomfort. So many of the poems are written to inspire by fueling a sense of hope. Hence the title ‘Inspired for Purpose’.

Matt: Writing is positively addictive. Once you’ve written one book, you realise how possible it is and often get the bug to write again. Is this something you are going to do?

Emete: Great question! Last weekend, I woke up and was inspired to write a children's book of poetry. So that weekend, I received a complete download and wrote the whole book! I am flabbergasted.

Matt: Some people think I’m cheeky when I say everyone has a book in them, and some have a small library. You have a small library.

Emete: Yes, I think I do. I highly recommend your course. It works, and it’s value for money not only for writing but also for publishing.

EVERYONE HAS A BOOK IN THEM

• Do you dream of writing a book one day?

• Are you keen to write a book but uncertain where to start?

• Have you started writing a book but found yourself stuck?

I encourage you to consider joining a ‘Writing My Book’ online course. Through it, you will be coached through a proven step-by-step process for writing your book in 100 days.

Do you have a voice inside your head whispering or shouting that you can’t write a book? That voice may say, “Who do you think you are?” “What have I got to say that has not been said?” and “You haven’t got enough content to fill a book?”. The truth is that you are worth more than you think and can achieve more than you can imagine, even writing a book within 100 days.

A recent graduate of the ‘Writing My Book’ course said, “I never thought I would write a book, let alone in 100 days. Now I have. I’m asking what else I have told myself that I cannot do that I actually can.” Writing a book within 100 days will smash the glass ceiling of what you believe you can achieve and open new opportunities and possibilities for your life and work.
