PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

LOOKING BACK

The end of my term as President of Peach Tree Golf Club is coming soon It has been a journey that has taken many turns. However, I believe the journey with the board members I have served with has brought the Club to a much stronger place and ready to continue growing with a positive purpose Our goal has been to make the Club the best value that we could for our members.

When looking back at my time on the board, it reminds me of when I joined the Club and, more importantly, why I joined the Club

I used to think Peach Tree was a great golf course but not something I would ever be a part of as a member Thankfully, I took a chance on trying to join Peach Tree and was welcomed by many I knew from the community as well as some new friends I did not know I had My entrance was hrough a Christmas gift of golf lessons with the golf pro at the time Pat Gould Through Pat, I met the general manage Nate Pomeroy Both encouraged

t me to join and finally convinced me to be part of the Peach Tree experience The why for me was the golf course and the people

Every time I play Peach Tree or spend time at the Club practicing, getting a meal or being involved in an event I am grateful for them pushing me to join I have enjoyed the best golf course in Northern California, being around a group of very nice members and working with a dedicated staff of people who care about their job and the Club they make a better place

Having been given the honor to serve as President of the Club is something I will not forget The board members care very deeply about the club and our debates always revolved around how to keep making it better Tracy and his crew are phenomenal in giving us such a consistent and well-maintained golf course to play Luke and company make sure we can play when we want and help us to improve how well we play. Becky is the glue that keeps things humming Casey and Rachel do an incredible job with the food and making our event business shine. Our entire support staff spend many hours making sure we see and get the best club experience And, of course, our general manager Jeff keeps everyone focused on making Peach Tree the best club for all of us.

As spring starts to break into our rainy, cold days I hope that you spend more time at the Club while enjoying the benefits of membership I cannot go without saying we still need your help keeping things nice Please fix your ball marks, rake the bunkers, and put sand in your divots

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Bunkers are one of the five defined areas of the course Your ball lies in a bunker when any part of it touches the sand So that the challenge of playing from the sand is preserved, there are a few things you are not permitted to do when your ball is in a bunker. These include testing the condition of the bunker, touching the sand right around your ball, and making a practice swing that touches the sand

May I remove stones in bunkers?

Yes Stones are loose impediments and you may remove any loose impediments that are in a bunker, even when your ball came to rest there. But, you’ll want to be careful that your ball does not move if you move a loose impediment or you will get one penalty stroke, and must replace your ball

May I touch the sand with my club when my ball is in a bunker?

Touching the sand with your club immediately in front of or behind your ball, during a practice swing or during your backswing is a penalty (see Rule 12 2b(1)) If you do this, you get a loss of hole penalty in match play or two penalty strokes in stroke play Other touching of the sand in a bunker is generally ok, as long as you are not deliberately testing the condition of the sand.

The bunker is filled with water – what are my options?

You may play your ball as it lies or take free relief in the bunker When taking free relief, you must find the nearest point of complete relief in the bunker and drop within the one club-length relief area. If complete relief is not available, you may take free maximum available relief in the bunker and drop within the one club-length relief area from the point of maximum available relief

Where should rakes be placed?

It is recommended that rakes be placed outside of the bunker and away from where they might interfere with play. However, this is only a recommendation, not a Rule of Golf, and there is no penalty if they are placed anywhere else

WOMEN'S CLUB

As the newly elected Peach Tree Women’s Golf Club (PTWGC) Captain, I look forward to a year filed with monthly games and events I would like to invite all Peach Tree Ladies’ Club members to join our Women’s Club; there is an annual fee of $50.00. When you join the PTWGC you’ll meet other ladies interested in playing golf, having fun, and competing in various games each Wednesday.

The Women’s Club also hosts other member/guest tournaments throughout the Year. It’s a lot of fun for all levels of play.

I would like to welcome our newest member Sheila Kelly-Houston She is a new golfer and has been playing on Wednesdays and winning!

Congratulation Sheila

In February the Women’s Club hosted our first Informal Guest Day, for this early in the golf season it was an outstanding success, we had participants from various clubs join our members in a round of golf followed by a nice lunch in our Clubhouse where we had an opportunity to visit with old and new friends.

In March our Spring Eclectic (EC) tournament begins. Cards are sold for $5 per card. Players can purchase one card per each of our three tees (Gold, Combo, and Green). Players can play one or six games and record their hole-byhole scores for a chance to win money at the end of the year

Join our Birdie/Chip-In/Sandy Par game, the cost is $10 for the year Each Wednesday, or designed other day, players who get a natural Birdie, Chip-In, and/or Sandy Par record it in the locker room Results are announced and winnings given at our annual Christmas Brunch and Awards

Our annual Invitational will be held May 23rd and 24th. PTWGC members invite guests from other clubs to join in a two-day event, this year’s Chairperson is Nancy Stallins. If you want to play but don’t have a foursome, the committee can help you find players.

For information on any of these events please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

I look forward to seeing you all on the golf course

In late January, fifty Peach Tree members said adios to California and joined our 2023 ILT Golf Vacation trip to the all-inclusive, adults only, Marival Armony Punta de Mita, in Mexico

Everyone enjoyed a non-stop charter flight, Marival's four gourmet restaurants, and many, many bars, including the Roof Top Sky Lounge with live entertainment and spectacular ocean view sunsets! Many also enjoyed golf at 3 different outstanding Championship Courses, including Greg Norman’s newly updated Higuera Golf Club Punta de Mita, El Tigre Country Club and the newly renovated Flamingos Golf Club
