letters to our military members through Operation Gratitude. Our entire faculty and staff kicks off every school year with a service project day at different local Catholic elementary schools in need. Every year, homerooms and other groups on campus adopt needy families and provide for them during our annual Advent Drive. These are just a few of the many ways that we continue to live the Mission of Providence here daily at Providence High School.
elcome to another edition of Pioneer Connections. I can’t believe that we are at winter break and the holidays are upon us. I hope that you all had a blessed Christmas and a joyous holiday season filled with family, friends, and good times! The recent Presidential campaign and election was like none other in our country’s history. It was unique and unpredictable in so many ways, and it seems as though U.S. politics, for better or for worse, has been changed forever. As Head of School, I recently wrote a letter to our faculty and staff, Board of Regents, parents, and students, addressing the extreme feelings being displayed in our country. My letter focused on how as a school community, our emphasis will always remain on our Mission. We are extremely fortunate to not just follow in the footsteps of the Sisters of Providence, but as People of Providence we are challenged to seek what they sought.
My job, and our faculty and staff’s job, is to make sure our Pioneers live our Mission daily. That is my commitment to each and every one of the 434 students we serve at Providence High School today. And it’s my commitment to all of you. Legendary UCLA basketball coach, John Wooden, once said, “Just do the best you can. No one can do more than that.” We will continue to do our best as we support our students, families, and alumni, through the Providence Mission. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Check in at our public website – www.providencehigh.org – and come out to school events. You are always welcome!

Our Mission is what will continue to propel us forward here at Providence. When it comes to our children, it’s not about the politics; it’s about the values we are teaching them. It’s about revealing God’s love for all. It’s about caring for the poor and the vulnerable. It’s about compassionately serving others. Our students performed over 19,000 hours of community service last year, and we are on pace to do more than that this year! Every Wednesday, we have “We Care Wednesday” after school where students and faculty members work on projects like writing
