Career Day Monday, November 7, 2016
Thinking about potential careers may be the furthest thing on the minds of high school students, however it is something that they should begin to explore. Career Day is the perfect opportunity for students to become exposed to different fields or discover exactly what a job in the profession they’re interested in entails. At the very least, the experience can give senior students ideas and possibly put them in touch with mentors for their Senior Project. On Monday, November 7th, alumni and friends of Providence High School gathered on campus to inspire our current students for Career Day. The students attended three sessions and heard from speakers of various fields. Speakers shared what they do and their responsibilities, and they also offered advice to students. The sessions included a college panel made up of recent PHS graduates. Most of the guest speakers were PHS alumni. “This event is so fantastic because our speakers had a chance to encourage students to begin thinking how their interests and strengths can materialize into a career,” said Alumni Relations Coordinator Joannes Pamatmat ‘03. Pamatmat, along with Director of Student Activities Michele Mullaly, planned the event. Both agree that it provided our students with the opportunity to be exposed to potential careers they never thought existed before. “It was very touching to see how our students connected with professionals and potentially saw themselves in our speakers,” said Mullaly.

Terry Romero Paul ‘69 is an artist and brought some of her paintings to show the students during her presentation. Ryan Curry ‘01 is the Technology Manager at Cal Net Technology Group.
