ZELENIJI I DOSTUPNIJI PIROVAC GREENER AND ACCESSIBLE PIROVAC

Lipanj/June 2022.

Do you enjoy spending your summer in wonderful vacation spots? This season is the perfect time to travel and explore new cities, especially in Mediterranean areas. The small cities and villages of Croatia attract hundreds of people every year from all around the world. No wonder that this country is very lively during these months. People usually associate the summer season with relaxation, leisure and fun, and that is perfectly understandable. But when it comes to expectations, people tend to set the highest standards for their vacations. At the same time, they usually forget that when they travel, they are not only responsible for themselves but for the locations they visit. They can easily forget how important it is not only to have a great time, but respect the places they visit and being engaged with them. I think that's why we're all here. That is why we work together with the PRONI Center as young volunteers from all around Europe. We want to achieve that people take care of Pirovac and its surroundings while they are here. Luca Pancsik, Hungary

To draw attention to think highly of the spirit of the place when they enter and stay here for a certain period of time. To pay attention to the locals and their culture, and most importantly, the environment. Within the "Photovoice" campaign, we intend to show people how we see Pirovac and reveal to the public that this village is a hidden treasure of Croatia that really deserves to be cared of. Seeing these photos, I hope that we all have the same impression that points to appreciate the opportunity of being here. The time that we spend on the beach or walking through the narrow, adorable streets of the old town, and watching the picturesque view of the sunset with a flock of seagulls flying over the water during the golden hour. Our aim is to draw attention to save these gifts of nature.

Luca Pancsik, Hungary

Zapamtite: ljepoti je često potrebna podrška, samo najhrabriji to mogu sami – sve ih cijenite!

Kad sam ovdje igrao nogomet s lokalnom djecom, shvatio sam važnost ovih mjesta i zašto stvaranjem više njih, dostupnih svima, pomaže djeci i zajednici da rastu.

When I played football here with the local kids, I realised the importance of these places and why creating more of them, accessible to everyone, helps the children and the community to grow. Marco Matos, Portugal

Dok sam hodao ulicom primijetio sam blokiran pristup. As I was walking through the street, I noticed this blocked access. Behind it could be a new road that leads to new places.

Marco Matos, Portugal

I wonder where the kids would play if we leave the playground as this.

Danas sam otišla na plažu i vidjela sam svoje prijatelje kako čiste smeće. Vidjevši ih kako rade, stvarno me nadahnulo i motiviralo da učinim isto.

Today I went to the beach and I saw my friends cleaning the trash. Seeing them doing the work really inspired and motivated me to do the same. I hope others will feel the same way.

I consider that every change begins in us!

Milica Lazic, Croatia

For the first time in my life, I have cleaned the beach. I used to think that idea is strange, but after cleaning I felt satisfcation, I wonder why I didn't do it before.

Dok nisam vidjela, ignorirala sam. Kada sam vidjela, obožavala sam. When I didn't see, I ignored. When I saw, I adored.

In my consideration, nature always wins. We can choose if we are for or agains it.

Kako smo dio prirode, trebali bismo brinuti o njoj.

Različite generacije, isti planet, iste potrebe. Different generations, same planet, same needs.

Dora Barusic, Croatia

Toliko uspomena u ovim ulicama. Toliko druženja. Toliko generacija je prošlo. Učinite dostupno kako bi i sljedeće generacije proživjele iste trenutke.

So many memories in these streets. So many gatherings. So many generations passed. Make it available for next generations to experience same moments.

Dok sam fotografirala, razmišljala sam o važnosti vode i kako nestaje. Spasi vodu i ona će spasiti tebe. While I was taking this photo, I thought about importance of water and how it is disappearing. Save water and it will save you.

Angela Markov, Croatia

On my way on the beach, I found messages written on stones. Therefore, I left one that reminds me of Pirovac, the harmony with the nature that I feel in this town.

Jelena Lazic, Croatia

Pitam se kako pomiriti prošlost s budućnošću.

Jelena Lazic, Croatia

I wonder how to reconcile the past with the future.

Pirovac je prekrasan mali grad s divnim ljudima. Međutim, postoji jedna stvar koja me uznemirava. Pirovac is a beautiful small town with amazing people. However, there is one thing that disturbs me. I noticed that in many old city centres, buildings have more and more "decorations": air conditioners, bars and net on the windows, trash cans and etc. Although I love most of what modern times bring, sometimes I wonder how to reconcile the past with the future. The lanes of the modern city centres are the presention of the conflict between the past and the future. The old towns are the one that cherish the spirit of a place, they are presenting our tradition. I feel the strong need to protect their unique character and heritage because this also represemts me as a person. Jelena Lazic, Croatia

Sunce počinje zalaziti i pokazuje se ljepota boje neba. Ali kada sunce zađe, stvari se promijene.

The sun begins to fall down and the beauty of colours of the sky shows up. But when the sun goes down, the things change. Cristina Navas, Spain

Beside the beauty, I’m thinking of the balance between the fish we kill and the fish we save.

Natalia Gkioka, Greece

It was really precious for me to see the seagulls coexisting with other animals and humans, all together as one. Natalia Gkioka, Greece

To me potaknulo da shvatim kako nismo uopće različiti. Ljudi, životinje, biljke i priroda. Svi kao jedno. Otkrivajući naše najbolje ja. Živjeti zajedno, poštivati jedan drugog. Trebamo štititi ono što možemo. Bez osjećaja nadmoći, svi smo jednaki i dijelimo ljubav. I zajedno uživati u miru. A onda, tu su i ti kratki trenuci kada otvorimo krila i osjećamo se slobodnima. I went to the beach early in the morning. Then, I saw for the first time a group of seagulls gathered together in the water, communicating in their own way. This view really fascinated me because it seemed that they were feeling safe and comfortable in their natural home. Almost like me with my friends. This made me realize that we are not that different after all. We have the same needs and the only way to fulfill them is to show solidarity to each other. Humans, animals, plants, nature. Everything as one. Revealing our best selves. Living together, respecting each other. We need to protect what we can protect. Without any feeling of superiority, we are all equal and we share love. Instead of being greedy, we can try being humble and thankful for everything that is alive and strong around us. Realize that our home, nature, needs our help too. And we need to give, not only receive. And enjoy peacefulness together. And then, there are these brief moments when we open our wings and we feel free. Natalia Gkioka, Greece

When I was near the beach I saw this view and I thought that nature gave us a lot of opportunities to live comfortably. Now we need to give the nature opportunity too.

Olena Marynina, Ukraine

Ovaj prizor me podsjeća da čak i najjednostavnije mjesto treba očuvati.

This view reminds me that even the simplest place need to be preserved. Romain Bouchet-S, France

It reminds me that we are all the same when we play football here at Pirovac or at my home, and that everybody in the world is the same as well, human.

Romain Bouchet-S, France

Zuzanna Berny, Poland

While I was taking a walk around Pirovac, what caught my attention was trash laying on the side of the streets among other beautiful surroundings. Can we change it?

Zuzanna Berny, Poland

While I was taking this photo, I was filled with peace and felt really grateful for the beautiful nature. Moments like these make me appreciate and motivate me to protect the treasure that is the natural environment.
