Street Cleaning Service

Vehicle Technician - Improver Salary: £29,540 - £31,022

Transport Services are responsible for all aspects of transport and related services including, procurement, maintenance and disposal on behalf of the Council. Transport services currently have a fleet size of approximately 800 vehicles ranging from small light commercials to large heavy goods refuse vehicles. Transport Services operate from three vehicle repair facilities across Kirklees. Your role would involve working as part of a team, contributing to ensuring that Kirklees Council remains at the forefront of exemplar vehicle maintenance. You will be supported and provided with training to increase your knowledge and practical skillsets to meet the key capabilities required to progress to a fully trained and qualified Vehicle Technician, and the competence to work on the full range of fleet vehicles operated by the organisation. Your duties will include being trained to increase your ability to complete all required tasks expected of a fully qualified Vehicle Technician, this includes carrying out HGV Preventative Maintenance Inspections (safety inspections), all aspects of scheduled servicing, auxiliary equipment repairs (bin-lifts, road sweepers etc.), preparing HGV’s for their annual periodic tests (including driving to selected test stations), attending breakdowns, and Electric and Hybrid Vehicle (E&HVs) maintenance. You will ensure that you undertake your duties in-accordance to required standards, including adhering to Health & Safety legislations and local workplace procedures, working in ways to protect safety. You will report to a Workshop Team Leader and the Transport Workshops Manager.

The Transport Services Workshop function is an evolving world where changes are constant due to transport innovations, such as changes to vehicle and plant designs. About The Service

About the job

Vacancy for Parish Clerk – Part Time Hours

Wales Parish Council is seeking to recruit to the post of clerk to the council a highly motivated person with a wide variety of skills. The position would suit someone who has previous experience of working in local government and managing staff.

• Diagnosing faults across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems

• Preparing vehicles for DVSA annual tests and MOT/taxi compliance testing

• Maintaining electric and hybrid vehicles

• Supporting apprentices and less experienced staff

• Participating in out-of-hours breakdown rota (extra Payment)

• Using diagnostic software and fleet management systems

We’re looking for someone with the right qualifications and hands-on experience. You’ll need:

• Level 3 Certificate in Motor Vehicle Repair (or equivalent)

• DVSA MOT examiner certification (or willingness to train, no cost to you)

• Full UK Driving Licence

• Class C licence (or willingness to train, No cost to you)

• Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Repair qualification (or willingness to train, no cost to you )

• Experience using diagnostic software

• Ability to work part of a team, including standby arrangements, on average 1 week in 6 (extra payment)

• Good literacy, numeracy, and basic IT skills

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

We have a great opportunity to join our busy Traffic Team, as a Highway Regulation Officer.

The role focuses on network management and highway regulation, and including Traffic Regulation Orders, traffic signs, parking, highway licensing, as well as highway obstruction and encroachment issues. To ensure the lawful regulation and use of the public highway network, in connection with temporary, emergency or permanent works, arising from new development and modification/improvement schemes.
