Vacancy for Parish Clerk – Part Time Hours

Wales Parish Council is seeking to recruit to the post of clerk to the council a highly motivated person with a wide variety of skills. The position would suit someone who has previous experience of working in local government and managing staff.

Highway Regulation Officer

Salary: Grade 8 Level 1 - 4 (£34,301 to £37,439 per annum)

We have a great opportunity to join our busy Traffic Team, as a Highway Regulation Officer.

The role focuses on network management and highway regulation, and including Traffic Regulation Orders, traffic signs, parking, highway licensing, as well as highway obstruction and encroachment issues. To ensure the lawful regulation and use of the public highway network, in connection with temporary, emergency or permanent works, arising from new development and modification/improvement schemes.

The role involves a significant level of contact, with residents, customers, businesses, and other Council departments so you will need good communications skills for face to face meetings, phone conversations and in writing, to prepare reports and responses to queries and requests.

You will be able to benefit from the wider team’s experience, working closely with other team members, to gather the data and information required to develop traffic management options, identify the pros and cons of these options, present them in reports to elected councillors and stakeholders, and make officer recommendations.

Traffic Projects Officer

Salary: Grade 8 Level 1 - 4 (£34,301 to £37,439 per annum)

We have a great opportunity for a Projects Officer to join our busy Traffic Team.

The team’s duties are wide ranging, focusing on network management and highway regulation, and including Traffic Regulation Orders, traffic signs, parking, highway licensing, as well as highway obstruction and encroachment issues. Specific tasks and projects are allocated between team members and there is a significant amount of reactive work to deal with urgent issues and requests which means that the workload is varied.

The role involves a significant level of contact, with residents, customers, businesses, and other Council departments so you will need good communications skills for face to face meetings, phone conversations and in writing, to prepare reports and responses to queries and requests.

You will be able to benefit from the wider team’s experience, working closely with other team members, to gather the data and information required to develop traffic management options, identify the pros and cons of these options, present them in reports to elected councillors and stakeholders, and make officer recommendations.

Senior Traffic Engineer

Salary: Scale PO9‐12, SCP 35‐38; £46,142 ‐ £49,282 per annum

The team primarily delivers highway schemes and contributes to the delivery of the Integrated Transport objectives of the

Region Sustainable Transport Settlement. You will be responsible for leading the team and preparing suitable design solutions for highway safety and improvement schemes, ensuring that the Council complies with the requirements of current legislation, undertaking work programming, estimating, supervision and reporting on scheme progress. In addition, the team will be delivering minor traffic schemes and contributing to improvements in highway safety. Responsibility will also include work programming, estimating, supervision and reporting on scheme progress.

As part of a team, you will be responsible for preparing design solutions, processing permanent and experimental Traffic Regulation Orders, ensuring that the Council complies with legislative requirements, and undertake work programming, estimating, supervision and reporting on scheme progress.
