VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS AND RESTRICTIONS (Revised 4/2018) POLICY All PHS volunteers must adhere to the outlined requirement and restriction procedures in order to serve in a volunteer capacity. PROCEDURE The following are requirements for all volunteers: •
Completion of in-service materials and annual evaluation. Attendance at service meetings as scheduled.
•
Sign in and out for every shift (please include any meetings, events, or special projects you attend as a PHS volunteer).
•
Volunteers are not required to assist during the holidays. If the volunteer does decide to volunteer during a designated holiday, the hours count for 1 ½ times the amount recorded. (Example: 4 hours volunteering on Labor Day = 6 total hours served).
•
Notify your volunteer office and department staff contact when needing to be absent, taking a vacation, going on leave or terminating an assignment.
•
All volunteers assigned to the Emergency Room, Radiology, Ambassador, Patient Transport and any other departments as required by service area role description MUST have a current CPR certification card on file with the Volunteer Office.
•
Be in good health and do not come in with a communicable infection.
•
Wear the appropriate volunteer uniform and photo identification badge when on duty.
•
Return the photo identification badge and uniform to the volunteer office upon leaving PHS as a volunteer.
•
A written doctor’s clearance may be required for return from a medical leave of absence. A medical leave of absence is defined as an absence from volunteer duties for one month or more due to health circumstances.
•
If a volunteer has not recorded hours for approximately 3 months, his/her status will change to “inactive.”
•
Fingerprint clearance is required for volunteers assigned to Hospice and the Behavioral Health Unit.
