Do you want to make sure that Power Ranch is the best-looking community around? Then the Design Review Committee is for you. The Design Review Committee (DRC) is responsible for making sure the Association’s aesthetic standards are well maintained. The DRC does this in two ways. ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW While it may seem arbitrary from an individual homeowner’s standpoint, the DRC looks out for the entire community. The DRC’s job is to make sure that any changes and additions to the yards and exteriors of Power Ranch homes adhere to the Association’s design requirements without bias. This helps to prevent a more colorful resident from painting pink polka dots on his house or placing a 20-foot statue of a Tyrannosaurus Rex on his front lawn. This, of course, benefits everyone in Power Ranch. Design Modification Application packets are sent to DRC members on a weekly basis, who review them carefully and cast their votes using an online program. Occasionally, DRC members need to drive by a home to get a good view of an applicant’s property. DESIGN GUIDELINES Homeowners often talk about the unreasonable rules set by the “HOA,” not realizing that they are the homeowners association. The community association, or “homeowners” association, actually belongs to all of you, the Power Ranch homeowners. All of the rules you are required to follow were created by Power Ranch homeowners like you, and it is the staff’s responsibility to enforce those standards. DRC members consider the CCRs, Arizona statutes, the look of the community, and the wishes of homeowners when discussing the implementation or revision of any rules which affect the aesthetics of the community. The DRC meets once a month, and during that meeting, new guidelines can be made or older ones revised. Any applications that need to be discussed are also reviewed at the monthly meeting. DRC members should be able to put their tastes aside and base decisions on the guidelines and CCRs. And, of course, they should love Power Ranch and want to keep it looking its best!
