State level faculty development programme held

The Department of Electronics and Communication Science, Alpha Arts and Science College organized a State Level Faculty Development Programme fiom September 26-27 in association with Pantech ProEd Pvt. Ltd, Chennai.

Kumarasamy (Manager of Pantech ProEd Pvt. Ltd.) inaugurated the event.

The Two Day State Level Faculty Development Programme aimed to provide an insight into the Internet of Things (IoT) Domain using the Arduino Controller.

Praveen, Arunkumar and Illavarasan of Pantech ProEd Pvt. Ltd., conducted the Technical and Hands on Sessions.

The sessions included Introduction to IoT, programming of the Arduino Controller, Basic & Advanced Level Programming of the Arduino Controller , GPIO Interfacing such as LED, Buzzer, & DC Motor Control, Accumulation of Data from sensors like Ultrasonic, Temperature, LED and sending it to the Cloud, Retrieval of the data from

the cloud and using it for control of appliances.

A webpage for the control of devices was developed and the applications were controlled hands on using the webpage.

Device control using Google Assistant was also deployed and demonstration of the same was given to the participants.

MQTT Protocol implementation, Things peak integration, Monitor and control of data were successfully implemented during the two day training of the Faculty Development Program.

This programme witnessed the participation of 30 faculty from the departments of ECS and Computer Science from 15 colleges in the State of Tamil Nadu.

The Programme ended with a valedictory on September 27 with all participants receiving their certificates on successful completion of the training.

Secures first place in Chess tournament

V. Rindhiya of Std. 9, Velammal Main School (Mogappair campus) won the first prize and a certificate for securing 5 points out of 9 rounds in the under 15 category, which was organized by Tetrasoft Hyderabad Marriott International Open Fide rating chess tournament 2018 held in Hyderabad recently.

Sri RKM Sarada Vidyalaya School, (T.Nagar) NSS students visited Enviro Home at Jafferkhanpet recently.

Laxmi (Enviro Home) turned out to be an eye opener and a realization, how simple it is to “Live with Nature”.

The most thrilling experience of their visit was the terrace garden with varieties of medicinal, flowering, vegetable and green plants for day to day use in a small place.

The students observed that solution to garbage is in each one’s hand.

They understanded in ‘not mixing’ garbage at home, introduce perishable waste at home for composting through simple - inexpensive composting through aerobic or vermi-composting methods and handing over recyclable wastes to rag-pickers (who make a living out of this) for appropriate recycling. By doing so, accumulation of waste at streets is eliminated.

The most thrilling experience of their visit was the terrace garden with varieties of medicinal, flowering, vegetable and green plants for day to day use in a small place.

The programme was coordinated by R. Govindaraj ( Joint General Secretary, Exnora International) and Kalyani (Co ordinator, Yoga exnora).
