Sri Krishna Sweets Ayudha Pooja special tin boxes will be available for sale at all Sri Krishna Sweets outlets in Chennai on October 6 and October 7 till stocks last.

Aksharabhyasam will be held on Oct 8 from 7 am at Sri Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswathi Assorted sweets including Mysurpa, Badusha, Laddu, Bombay Halwa and Soan Papdi and Seedai, Mixture, Kadalai Mittai in Kaaras exclusively packed in special tin temple in Madhanandapuram, Porur.

According to a press release, it is a traditional religious function in which the child boxes having images of the Almighty.

Free medical health check-up camp held

In connection with 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji, Multi Speciality free Medical health check-up camp was jointly organized by Tamilnadu Udavikkaram Association for the welfare of differently Abled(TNUAWDA) functioning at 9th Avenue, Ashok Nagar, Chennai and International foundation of peoples welfare and development(IFPWD),exclusively for differently abled persons and to their family members, on Oct.2 at Dr.MGR Janaki Matriculation School, Saligramam.

Dr. S.Selvakumar (Assistant Commissioner of Police, Central crime branch, Vepery) was the chief guest and inaugurated the camp by honouring a Cerebral palsy affected differently abled boy with a shawl and a memento.

Velammal Vidyalaya, Poonamalle inaugurated the school gardening club on Sept 28, initiating the learning of responsibility Confidence, Unity, Patience, Cooperation and Team work through planting plants.

The Nature study classes was enthusiastically built up by the students on this auspicious day to bring in knowing all subjects lively.

Murali of Sri Krishna Sweets honoured with Life time achievement award

M. Murali of Sri Krishna Sweets was honoured with Life Time Achievement award for promoting arts & culture in the 30th year anniversary celebration of YACD, Gopalapuram in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore. He received the award with the blessings and presence of Swami Vimurthanandaji Maharaj, Manager Maharaj, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore. Hon’ble Justice B. Rajendran, Former Judge Madras Highcourt was the chief guest and senior advocate Satish Parasaran presided over the function.

The organisation also honoured Sri. N. Gopalaswami, Former Chief Election Commissioner, Dr. R. Gandhi, Senior Advocate, Dr. Nalli S. Kuppusami Chetty, Nalli Silks, K N Ramaswamy, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Sri T.H. Vinayakaram, Ghatam Vidwan. Later 60 dignitaries of various fields were honoured with ‘Kala Samrakshana’ and ‘Kala Samrakshani’ awards.

In their acceptance speech the awardees gave a few suggestions in nurturing young talents. The award function started with Bhakthi Saagar by Prasanthi Vinod and Team. It was a captivating turbulent mesmerizing vibrant performance with positive appreciation with huge round of applause. Her enchanting presentation comprising of Bolenatha Umapathae, Chinna Chinna Muruga, Navaneetha Chor Gopal etc., kept audience spellbound. Swami Vimurthanandaji Maharaj was so impressed he called her to the stage to light the kuthuvillaku with them.

Sri Krishnamurthy, founder president of YACD, Gopalapuram in his welcome speech narrated the formation of the organisation by alumnus of Vivekananda College and its inauguration by Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer on August 13, 1990 and highlighted its activities in detail.

The students of Velammal departed to Moscow from Chennai. Reaching Moscow, the students took a transit flight to St. Petersburg. They first visited the old hermitage and the winter palace, where they gained a history lesson of Russia’s great history. Then, they enjoyed visiting other different historic monuments.

The next day, they visited the Museum of Cosmonautics and Rocket technology and curiously enquired the scientists. The students also received certificates, validating their visit to the Museum. Later, the Paul and Peter fortress, St. Isaac cathedral were visited. It was learnt that the great king Peter -I was buried in the cathedral.

The following day, the students visited the port of Baltic Sea and clicked photos to keep the memories.

In Star City the next day, they were introduced to the models of the different rockets, and buses that took astronauts to rockets.

They were also introduced to the space suits with special features. The students were also explained about the rigorous training needed for the astronauts and cosmonauts to survive in space. The students saw all the different simulations for the astronauts to experience the different hardships in space travel.

The students also bought some souvenirs from the Izmailovsky market. They also went to Kaluga, the industrial capital of Russia, to visit the Museum of History of Cosmonautics, where the tour guide explained them the complete history of Cosmonautics. The next day, the students visited the mission control center in Korolev. They also went Golu display in neighbourhood apartment (Pleasanta Apartments, Rajas Garden, on an excursion to the RSC energy, red square and a Porur).

Russian circus and had fun.

Overall, the educational trip was a very enriching experience for the students.
