Velammal celebrates Vinayagar Chathurthi The kindergarteners of Balalok school, (Virugambakam) created Vetrilai Vinayakar for the celebration of Vinayaka Chathurthi. The Principal said that the little ones have designed the betel leaves and created a visual piece of work that contains a message for the viewer that the usage of the degradable materials have become the need of the hour. Through such creations they learn to concentrate on their work which help them a long way in their academics as well.
Plastic awareness programs held
As per instructions from Dept of environment, Govt of Tamilnadu a plastic awareness programs were conducted in various places, schools to educate and demonstrate the ill effects of plastics to general public and students in
Chennai city. District educational officer Vetri chelvi inaugurated the demonstration in Teresa’s girl’s higher secondary School, Kasimedu with a request to students not to use banned plastic items

and to minimise their usage in daily Life. G.Thangaraj, Chennai district coordinator, National green corps movement briefed the banned items and the usable alternate items with a display.
The cultural artists performed the dance, Karakattam and Folk dance and awareness songs on ill effects of plastics. Dr.T.G.Srinivasan, Health education officer, Greater Chennai corporation distributed the cloth Bags as an alternate to plastic carry bags. He also narrated the initiatives of Govt. in enforcing the plastic ban. Delphin, Principal, Annai Veilankani School, Saidapet proposed the vote of thanks and lauded the performances of artists and the involvement of students in observing the theme of the initiative.
Spoken English course
Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama is conducting the 47th Batch of Spoken English Course (Basic & Intermediate Levels) from 22nd September (Sunday). College students, employees, job seekers and housewives can apply for joining this course. Classes will be conducted by trained, qualified, experienced and dedicated teachers in all the levels. Highlights of the course are grammar, vocabulary and conversational skills. Applications are being issued now. Last date for submitting the application is 19th September (Thursday). Discourse on Bhagavad Gita Swami Satyaprabhananda will give a discourse on Harsha C & Dharmesh C of Vedanta Academy Bhagavad Gita (In Tamil) from 5.30 pm on Sept.8 in had participated in Thiruvallur District Roller Skating Vivekananda Hall, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Championship Meet and have won gold, silver and No.3 M.S.Salai, T.Nagar. All are welcome. bronze medals . Harsha C (Under 17 category) has won 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze while Dharmesh C (Under 9 category) bagged 1 gold and 2 silver medals.

Vinayagar Chathurthi was celebrated in a grand manner on Aug 30 at Velammal Main school, Mogappair campus. The students of Std. 3 to 5 dressed in vibrant Ganesha costume was the attraction of the day. The impressive creation of a 22 ft. Lord Ganesha using 2100 sponges in a short span of just 12 hours stole the show. The message was to save our forest and encourage green earth. The students exhibited their talents during this occasion.
