Teacher received Excellent education award The Lion’s Club International, Chennai Excellent Education Award aims to recognize and celebrate teaching as the noblest profession in India by recognizing extraordinary teachers who are engaging their students in innovative path-breaking ways to ignite their potential. Mano Helena, Academic Co-ordinator of Vedanta Academy (CBSE), Vanagaram, received this prestigious award by the respected Join Director Naresh, at a ceremony held in Karnataka Sangha, T.Nagar for her commitment to the betterment and enrichment of the culture, citizenship, and education of the students. With a magnificent experience of 18 years, she has given away outstanding contribution to learners and has served communities. In her acceptance speech, she

said schools should be “safe heavens” and called for greater recognition for the value of subjects in school. K. Spoken English course starts from September 30 Ashrama Library is conducting Spoken English Course (Basic & Intermediate Levels) from September 30. School staff trained in first aid and disaster management

The PSBB Millennium School (Gerugambakkam) provided its staff a wonderful opportunity of getting them trained in First aid and Disaster management with the support of Red Cross Society, Chennai. The training focused on sensitizing the staff towards understanding the aim of First Aid, the situations where first aid would be required, how to perform CPR, wound, cut and gash care, bleeding and burns care, managing with every day minor accidents, identifying fracture symptoms, technique of handling such cases, and learn how to provide first aid to an unconscious and breathing casualty. The staff were made aware of the types of disasters that may occur and ways to safeguard, support and escape from the tough situations were brainstormed. They were also given knowledge on the emergency and necessary items to be carried and precautionary steps to be taken to lessen the effects. The training had practical exposure to the staff and the take away is a valuable treasure.

Essay competition for senior citizens

Nandini Voice for the deprived, a Chennai based non governmental organization is organizing an essay competition for senior citizens to describe their thoughts and share their perspectives on the life that they have led and how to make up for the lost opportunities in the rest of their life. The objective of the competition is to provide an opportunity to the senior citizens above 60 years of age to express themselves . Their views would help in providing the guidelines for shaping the future plans for youngsters , when they have the time and opportunity to do so. Highlights of the thoughts of the senior citizens would be published for the benefit of all concerned. Essay can be written in English or Tamil. Essay should have maximum of 1500 words. Last date for submission of essay is September 30,2018. Best of five entries will be awarded prize. Student excels in Karate Championship

S. Avinash of Std. 7, Velammal Main School (Mogappair campus) participated in second CSIKA National Karate Championship held recently at Padma Shree Sesha Mahal. He bagged the first place in individual KATA organized by Champions School of Indian Karate Association.
