IGNOU admission extended till Aug 31

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) admission to Masters, Bachelors Degree Programmes, PG Diploma/Diploma, for July, 2018 session is in progress. The admission to these programmes is made through online mode.

The last date for admission is extended upto 31 August 2018.

The online link is https://onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in/admission/ The programmes of IGNOU are useful to employed, unemployed, urban, rural, housewives and for upgradation of qualification/ skill development/continuing education/Life-long learning.

IGNOU admission is also open for its Special B.COM/M.COM programmes to those pursuing Chartered Accountancy/Cost Accountancy/Company Secretaryship and Prospectus to these programme are also available at IGNOU Regional Centre, Chennai through OFFLINE mode.

The Vedanta Academy CBSE School (Vanagaram) hosted the 2nd Neela Kesav Rolling Trophy Tournament (2018) on August 18, an inter-school football tournament for boys and throwball tournament for girls under 14 years of age.

22 teams of football and 16 teams of throwball showcased their teamwork and sportsmanship.

The tournament was presided over by the Director of Vedanta Academy (CBSE) Sundeep Vasu, Dr.Divya Sathish (The Governing Council Member) and R. Pratheepa (Principal).

A.D. Sukavaneshwar (International Basketball player) was the special guest.

In the Football tournament, the boys of SBOA Matriculation School, (Anna Nagar) lifted the winner’s rolling trophy, The PSBB school (K.K.Nagar) secured the first runner up and the second runner up trophy was taken up by the ChinmayaVidyalaya (Anna Nagar).

The girls of Velammal Matriculation School, (Mogappair) Throw ball team got the winner’s rolling trophy, The Little Flower Matriculation School, (Moulivakkam) secured the first runner up and the second Runner up was Hussain Memorial Matriculation School (Ambattur).

The winners were awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 5000 (1st Place), Rs. 3000 (2nd Place) and Rs. 2000 (3rd Place) respectively by Vedanta Academy Director, Sundeep Vasu.

This tournament united the teams around Chennai by embedding the values of team work, mutual respect and competitive spirit.

Velammal pays tribute to Kerala flood victims

Students of Velammal Main School, Mugappair Campus paid a floral tribute to the flood victims of Kerala on August 24. A two minute silence was observed to mark their concern over the victims. The occasion was finally wrapped up by praying and wishing everything back to normal in Kerela.

Chennai Traffic Police displayed a awareness hoarding for rider and pillion riders also to compulsorily wear helmets.

Velammal Main School, Mogappair campus, Std. 7 students gathered a new experience beyond the campus by visiting the Regional Meteorological department at Numgambakkam on August 21. The students were taken to the observatory laboratory and made to visualize the storm warning panel.

Balachander (Met. Dept. Director) and his team vividly explained the weather forecast from the satellite through radar and sensor. The students discussed about the weather forecast, the impact of climatic changes and wet bulb thermometer. They also witnessed the working of the rain gauge and radar working system. The highlight of the day was learning how to predict rain and storm. The students had an interaction with the team and were thrilled on knowing the facts about recent calamities. The students enjoyed by experiencing the devices and learnt everything practically.

The participants remembered about the various welfare measures implemented to disabled persons in Tamilnadu, during his regime as Honourable Chief Minister of Tamilnadu.

Welfare assistance were distributed to differently abled persons in the end of the programme.

Free eye camp held for senior citizens

Sri Krishna Sweets organized an event under the banner Kuraiondrumillai as part of Naal Thorum Nalathu Seivom at Sri Aishwarya Old Age Home in Virugambakkam.

The programme started with Sai bhajan followed by lunch and free eye camp to senior citizens by Sight Care Foundation.

Krishnamurthy of YACD said Sri Krishna Sweets have been doing many social and cultural events round the year as part of Naal Thorum Nalathu Seivom. M. Murali has derived a concept of ‘Kuraiondrumillai’ to serve old age homes to spend time with them and share his love with the people at the home.

Eashwar who runs the home appreciated Sri Krishna Sweets for organising bhajans and providing food to senior citizens. He said many more organizations must come forward and engage themselves in supporting senior citizens.

Velammal Throwball team wins Rolling Trophy

Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus, U-14 girls Throwball team won the Neelakeshav Rolling Trophy with a tremendous score of 15-3, 15-2. It was organized and conducted by Vedanta Academy, Vanagaram recently. S Niveditha, Std 9 was awarded for the best player. They competed against 18 schools.
