Velammal awarded for one of the five best Schools
Velammal Matric.Hr.Sec.School (Mogappair) and Velammal Vidyalaya (Alapakkam) have been conferred as one of the five best schools in Tamilnadu. The school received the accolade for its exemplary service in the field of education and extra curricular activities. The award was presented by Dr. R.M.Vasagam (Former Senior Scientist, ISRO), organized by School Consultants India, held at Bangalore on Feb.3.
Project day held at First School
Alpha Arts and Science College (Porur) organised its 20th annual sports meet on Feb.8. The programme started with Tamil Thaai Vazhthu. S. John Sundar (Assistant commissioner of Police, Koyambedu Range) was chief guest. Dr. Ashalatha (Principal of the college) presided over the function and delivered the presidential address. John Sundar declared the sports meet open and the students of various disciplines enthusiastically participated in the various athletic events and exhibited their talents followed by the prize distribution. The programme concluded with the valedictory where Dermiz (Physical Director) presented the annual report of the sports meet.
The Project Day 2018 held at First School (Manapakkam) focused on the theme “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” on Jan.27. The little ones paid tribute to Mother Earth, danced to the songs of nature and
entertained the audience with a skit about the story of a seedling. Drawing, painting, sloka recitals, story telling and fancy dress competitions were conducted for children. Nestle and N Gopaldas
Jewellers held competitions for the parents of First School-ers. The Cookery show and the exhibition themed ‘wealth out of waste’ used to express their talents. The event witnessed high
energy levels with an open floor Zumba session, western dance by Bare Bonz dance studios and classical dance performed by the students of Akhilandeshwari Dance School.
