A great Family Friendly Event… The Bearded Theory Festival The Polly’s List families were so pleased to be invited back for the second year running to attend the Bearded Theory Festival at Kedleston Hall. Such a great venue and right on our doorstep, we arrived as early as possible to get into the Festival spirit.

There was a great selection of food to suit all tastes on offer, not the usual array of junk food, but delicious spit roast chicken and potatoes, paninis and pancakes to Tibetan and Thai curries. Also on offer was fresh coffee, luxury hot chocolate and cooked breakfasts which were perfect for the Sunday A vibrant mixture of friendly and colourful characters, stalls selling bright festival clothes, morning. jewellery and unusual souvenirs. Our families The Festival grounds and campsite were kept loved the Children’s Village and Angel clean and litter free and it was great attending Gardens completely dedicated to children’s entertainment including painting, storytelling, something like this that the whole family could enjoy. It’s easy to see why it prides drumming workshops, wand and garland making, body zorbing and a dedicated stage itself on being one of the best family festivals in the country. We’re looking forward to next hosting child acts (which adults seemed to year’s Festival already! enjoy too!). We were entertained by around 100 acts over Early bird tickets on sale now for 17, 18, 19 May 2013. This summer, National Trust is offering the opportunity to spend a fantastic and unusual day out at Kedleston Hall on Saturday 4th August.

Visitors of all ages, but especially the little ones, will feel the excitement of a treasure hunt when they pick up one of the new maps of the park, designed specifically for the occasion, and set out to discover the sculptures and interact with them.

Family Fun Day 9.30am – 4pm on Tuesday 24 July 2012 Head down to Derby Market Place and join in the fun on Tuesday 24 July, when the 4th annual Derby Family Fun Day takes place. There is lots to do, whatever the weather and this year you can hop aboard Harry the Kidz Bus, a red double decker that’s packed with the latest soft toys, slides and ball pits. Join in with the traditional games supplied by the National Trust, be creative with badge making or get your face painted as your favourite animal or fairy princess. Come and listen to a story in Storytelling corner or be creative by making an Olympic themed flag or mobile to show your friends. While you’re here see what goodies local attractions such as Alton Towers and Gulliver’s Kingdom have to offer on their stalls and get a chance to stroke a Shetland Pony. Make sure you check out our unique Animalympics Zoo, where you can see a great selection of animals, including: snakes, lizards, a 4 foot monitor lizard, creepy crawlies, rabbits, chickens and ducks. Numerous displays are also provided, full of information on the animals’ natural abilities compared to those abilities of the Olympians.

There will also be delicious cupcakes on sale, courtesy of Marmalade and Tea and tasty Bluebells ice-cream. So, how are you going to keep the kids entertained during the school holidays?
