Quarant-Zine Spring 2021

Faded

Written by Jackie Friedland The world is a loud place When you live in one of the busiest cities in the Bay Area Banging, shouting, crashing, It never stops, Even when you honestly wish you could just sleep at 5 am It drove me insane Screaming, falling, Blasting It never stops I tried everything Ignoring, muting, deleting I thought nothing would ever silence the city Then it did The noise that drove me insane, Made me listen to music at Unhealthy volumes It stopped Quiet, Empty, Silent The city stopped fighting me I thought that I had finally won the battle But it turns out that when your world is a city, The noise is what gives it life It is the people Bustling, laughing, running Without it a city is merely Uncanny, broken, Sad Faded
