The ARC ALS level 2 course that prepares participants to effectively manage the patient in cardiac arrest as a team leader

Audience

This course is designed for healthcare professionals who would be expected to apply the skills taught as part of their clinical duties, or to teach them on a regular basis.

This course aims to provide a competency based program designed to educate clinical and non-clinical staff in the assessment of Basic Life Support in Townsville Hospital Health Service (THHS). The course will provide a consistent approach to the assessment of Basic Life Support Competency Assessment required by all clinical and some non-clinical staff working in the THHS.

The aim of this course is for Registered Nurses (RN) to understand that a basic, patient focused health assessment drives their nursing practice, clinical decision making and clinical documentation. This session supports the NMBA Standard of Practice for Registered Nurses ➢ Standard 4: Comprehensively conducts assessments ➢ Standard 5: Develops a plan for nursing practice This course is targeted at all Registered Nurses (RN) only, regardless of experience level to reflect upon their current assessment and documentation processes. THHS Paediatric ALS - 2019 About

The THHS Paediatric ALS course prepares participants to effectively manage the paediatric patient in cardiac arrest as part of the resuscitation team and as a team leader.

Audience

This course is designed for healthcare professionals who would be expected to apply the skills taught as part of their clinical duties.

Appropriate participants include doctors and nurses working in critical care areas or on the cardiac arrest /medical emergency team

Urinary Care Workshop About

Duration

Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses will be competent to perform catheter insertion and related catheter care after successfully undertaking workshop components including theory and practical competency.

An Adult Urinary Obstruction, Retention and Bladder Scanning self-learning package is required to be complete and returned at least four weeks prior to the workshop. The package will be forwarded once registration is confirmed.

Registered and Enrolled Nurses A $65 registration fee applies to Nurses external to Townsville Hospital Health Service.

Learning Objectives

This interactive nursing workshop will look at the different types of urinary catheters available in clinical practice and the principles of bladder care management.

Program Outline

1. EN & RN roles and responsibilities with catheter care activities 2. Successfully demonstrate: • Safe aseptic technique of catheter insertion in males and females • Urodome/sheath application • Intermittent catheterisation • Bladder scanning procedure • Bladder irrigation • Supra-pubic catheter care Overview of pelvic floor exercises & associated urinary issues

Venipuncture Education Program About

To enable health care professionals to perform venipuncture in a safe and efficient manner.

Venipuncture is an invasive procedure. It is important to ensure your competency to promote comfort and safety for the patient.

On completion of the program the learner will: • have a theoretical and practical knowledge of venipuncture.

• Be certified as competent to practice venipuncture
