Jacques Martin is in his first season on the Penguins coaching staff. Martin, 61, has spent nearly 30 years coaching at the NHL level, serving as head coach with St. Louis (1986-88), Ottawa (1995-2004), Florida (2005-08) and Montreal (2009-12) and as an assistant coach with Chicago (1988-90) and Quebec/Colorado (1990-95). Martin was an associate coach on the 2002 Canadian Olympic squad that won a gold medal in Salt Lake City. Martin was a Jack Adams Award recipient as NHL Coach of the Year with Ottawa in 1998-99, and was a finalist on three other occasions. Also as head coach of the Florida Panthers, Martin worked a dual role as general manager from 2006-08. Martin’s NHL head coaching resume includes 1,294 games, 613 wins and 12 playoff appearances in 17 seasons. He ranks 10th all-time in wins and seventh all-time in games coached in NHL history. Martin played college hockey at St. Lawrence University. Jacques has two daughters.
