A LET TER FROM MARIO LEMIEUX & RON BURKLE The Pittsburgh Penguins are more than just a hockey team. Community service is part of our DNA. Yes, we are committed to putting a strong team on the ice and winning Stanley Cups, but we’re just as committed to making a deep and lasting impact off the ice – especially to the youth of the Pittsburgh region. Whether it is supporting our city in a time of need, funding educational initiatives, providing free floor hockey equipment to elementary schools or assisting our players with a holiday visit to Children’s Hospital, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation is the catalyst that makes it all happen. Now entering its 10th season, the Foundation has excelled at fulfilling the team’s overall mission to “energize and inspire our fans” and “positively impact our community.”
And the players help in so many other ways. Be it Sidney Crosby providing free hockey equipment to youngsters; Matt Murray helping youth from the Ward Home with his Saves MATTer program; Kris Letang stepping up for his “littlest hero;” Evgeni Malkin donating to assist victims of a tragedy in his hometown of Magnitogorsk, Russia; or all of our players and coaches visiting Children’s Hospital and granting special wishes throughout the season, the Foundation is fortunate to have such community-minded partners who make us proud both on and off the ice. Last year alone, thanks to the support and generosity of our fans, the Penguins Foundation committed over $7.9 million to assist the young people of our region. We hope you enjoy this report of the Foundation’s efforts during the past season and look forward to another successful campaign in 2019.20. Thank you for your support!
We are especially fortunate to have a group of players who share our community and charitable vision – exemplified by their suggestion to wear special “Stronger Than Hate” patches on their uniforms following the horrific shooting tragedy that rocked our city last season. The Penguins Foundation and our fans stepped forward to raise more than $600,000 in response.

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
THE S TORY OF THE PENGUINS FOUNDATION The year 2010 proved to be a year of transition for the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. The team’s longtime home moved from the Civic Arena to a new stateof-the-art arena. That same year, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation was created, enveloping all of the organization’s charitable efforts under one umbrella.
THE MISSION OF THE PENGUINS FOUNDATION
Ironically, the demolition of the Civic Arena created the funding needed to build a base for the Foundation and its programs. Ornaments forged from the Civic Arena’s roof raised $2.5 million to fund the Foundation’s first programs thanks to support from the best fans in hockey.
To actively promote physical well-being, encourage teamwork, stress the value of education, and provide essential life skills to young people in our community through youth hockey and other activities.
Focused on our region’s youth, the Penguins Foundation has embraced a vast array of programs that emphasize four pillars: youth hockey, wellness, education and community development. With strong leadership provided by Penguins ownership, the Foundation strives to continue its mission of serving the people of Pittsburgh through new and innovative programs - ultimately building the brightest future for our great city.
Pittsburgh is using hockey as a catalyst to build strong and vibrant communities. That is only good for the sport because the stronger the community, the stronger our fandom is going to be and the stronger the growth of the sport is going to be. It’s been exciting to see that. STEEL CIT Y STRONG S TRONGER THAN HATE On October 27, Pittsburgh, the city of kindness and a place where everyone is a neighbor, came face-to-face with an egregious hate. Eleven neighbors’ lives were taken at the Tree of Life Synagogue. The events that took place in Squirrel Hill that Saturday morning echoed throughout the entire world and shook a community to its core. Hate left its mark, but the love that built this city quickly embraced the individuals and families affected. The Pittsburgh Penguins and Penguins Foundation, together with the support of our compassionate fans, raised over $600,000 for the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and established a fund for the City of Pittsburgh Department of Safety to benefit police officers wounded during the attack.
$600,000+ The funds were raised starting on October 30 with a gameday collection in support of the victims and first responders as fans walked into the gates of PPG Paints Arena. That night, the Penguins players took to the ice in their home jerseys, which were adorned with a Stronger Than Hate patch in honor of the victims and community that was shattered by violence. The jerseys were placed on auction, which raised over $150,000. In addition, that evening’s 50/50 Raffle and silent auction were donated to the cause, while patches identical to those worn by the players were available for fans to purchase to show their support. Without a doubt, the outpouring of support shown by this city proved that steel is stronger than hate.
We woke up to the terrible news this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and families affected by what happened this morning. PL AYER GAMEDAY PROGRAMS CROSBY & MAL KIN CHARIT Y SUITES During the 2018.19 season, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin hosted 37 different charitable organizations through the Crosby & Malkin Charity Suites program. Each organization was selected due to their goal of assisting children who are coping with difficult health issues, economic struggles or family challenges. Organizations welcomed to the Charity Suites included Best Buddies, the DePaul School for Hearing & Speech, Down Syndrome Association, Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Children’s Institute and many more.

We just wanted to make it a full experience. All these kids either haven’t been to games or haven’t been to many. It’s their first time experiencing it. They come down with big smiles on their faces and they’re all excited, and even after losing a game… I cheer up a little bit and move past it. Bryan Rust Pittsburgh Penguins
Goaltender Matt Murray introduced his Saves MATTer program at the start of the 2018.19 NHL campaign with the goal of raising significant funds for three organizations: Ward Home (Pittsburgh, PA), Children’s Aid Services (Ontario, Canada) and Dilico (Ontario, Canada). Matt pledged $30 per save with 1,465 saves made over the season amounting to a personal donation of $43,950. The Penguins Foundation supported Matt’s efforts with an additional $30,000 contribution in honor of #30 to bring the Saves MATTer grand total to $73,950. In addition, Matt welcomed the youth from Ward Home to a Penguins home game in October as his special guests. The visit included autographs from Matt, as well as a post-game meet-and-greet complete with photos and selfies of course!

SE AT S FOR S TRENGTH Three Penguins players joined forces in 2018.19 to battle against mental and emotional health struggles affecting youth. Bryan Rust, Jake Guentzel and Riley Sheahan launched Seats for Strength to assist children coping with such struggles. This new program allowed children from Allegheny Family Network to attend each Penguins home game and to meet the players post-game for autographs, photos and smiles. With an assist from Play It Forward Pittsburgh, the program was facilitated and supported by the Penguins Foundation through a donation of gifts and meal vouchers.

One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is being able to call wish families to invite them to a Penguins game in the Charity Suites. I’m constantly told this invitation is ‘coming at just the right time.’ A child’s medical issues can continue long after their wish is granted, but special perks like cheering on the Pens from a Charity Suite is a great way to put a smile back on their face. PENS OFF THE ICE PROJEC T BUNDL E - UP The full Penguins roster spent the afternoon of November 9 shopping with children through the Salvation Army’s Project Bundle-Up program. Each little fan was paired with one of their hockey idols to peruse the store in search of the warmest winter accessories. Winter jackets, hats, mittens and more were selected by the kids and gifted by the team making for a memorable day at DICK’S Sporting Goods.
MAL KIN FOR MAGNITOGORSK Our team comes from all over the world, but each player has made this city and community their home away from home. In January, an apartment explosion in Magnitogorsk, Russia, less than 10 minutes away from the home of Evgeni Malkin, shattered the lives of 39 victims and upset a once quiet and quaint community. Evgeni quickly jumped to support his neighbors and made a $60,000 donation. The Penguins Foundation followed suit to assist #71 and added a $30,000 contribution. We are proud to support the causes near and dear to our players and are continually humbled by their passion to go above and beyond to help others.

Ian Rosenbaum may look up to Pens defenseman Kris Letang with stars in his eyes, but the 7-year old youth hockey player from Johnstown, PA proved to be Kris’ littlest hero. Ian, who has a form of T-cell leukemia, met Kris early during the 2018.19 season, shortly after his diagnosis. The mightiest Mite from the Johnstown Warriors program then reunited with Kris for a fundraising initiative to help with Ian’s medical costs during a Johnstown Tomahawks game. Kris added $58,000 to the total for Ian - a true warrior.

HONORING OUR HEROES VE TERANS CEL EBRATION On November 10, the Pittsburgh Penguins welcomed Veterans to PPG Paints Arena for morning practice, a locker room tour and the Penguins game that evening. In addition, the players wore military-style jerseys in support of the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania with over $24,000 raised to support our nation’s bravest.

IN - GAME SALUTE The Penguins organization acknowledges military members for their heroism and dedication to protecting our nation during each Penguins home game. Through a special in-arena welcome and via the Hometown Hero program in partnership with I.C. Light, military members were honored for their service throughout the 2018.19 season.
OPERATION TROOP APPRECIATION SUPPOR T The Penguins Foundation teamed up with Operation Troop Appreciation to send hockey equipment to Baghdad for servicemen and women abroad to continue playing the game they love. Goalie pads, sticks, and helmets were shipped from Pittsburgh across the world showing that no matter what you do or where you are, it can always be a Hockey Night in Pittsburgh.
Winning the Dumoulin Veterans jersey was thrilling. Giving it to my Veteran Son-In-Law was priceless and helping Veterans through the Penguins Foundation was an honor. Marjorie King Penguins Foundation Donor

SHUTOUT HUNGER FOOD DRIVE On World Food Day on October 16, the Penguins Foundation hosted the 27th Annual Score Against Hunger Food Drive where fans were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to PPG Paints Arena in support of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Collections were held outside each gate where a total of 899 lbs. of food was gathered to aid families and individuals in our community who struggle with food insecurities.
RAINBOW KITCHEN PL AYER ME AL American-born players Casey DeSmith, Jack Johnson, Chad Ruhwedel, Jake Guentzel and Bryan Rust visited the Rainbow Kitchen on November 14 to serve a Thanksgiving meal to local residents in Homestead. The players were proud to assist Rainbow Kitchen, which provides a vital safety net for hungry children, struggling families, low-income elderly, disabled individuals and Homestead residents who are homeless or unemployed.

‘TIS THE SEASON TO GIVE CHIL DREN’S HOSPITAL VISIT A tradition that began in the early 1980s, the annual Penguins Children’s Hospital Visit is truly an incredible event. In 2018.19, on December 5, each Penguins player shared the joy of the holidays with the kids staying at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh by visiting each child’s room and providing special gifts selected by the team.
A HAT TRICK OF TOYS During the 2018.19 season, the Penguins organization supported the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program in three ways - a hat trick of toys! Fans from near and far were able to make a monetary donation online to assist 96.1 KISS Radio’s popular Stuff-A-Bus program with the Penguins Foundation adding $10,000. The organization also collected toys at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, which were then delivered by Enterprise Rent-A-Car directly to Mikey and Big Bob at the official Stuff-A-Bus drop-off location in Robinson. Finally, the Penguins Foundation hosted a gameday collection of toys during the December 1 home game with 900 toys and over $3,000 raised. All three initiatives assisted Toys for Tots in an effort to give kids in our region a very merry holiday season.

SHOEBOXES OF CHEER OPERATION SHOEBOX Operation Shoebox brightened the holidays for senior citizens with shoeboxes stuffed with gifts and essentials to residents at Kane Community Center. On December 19, members of the Penguins staff delivered 91 shoebox gifts (a new record!), which were donated by the front office and hockey operations staff, leading into the Christmas holiday.
THE SHOEBOX PROJEC T For the second season, the Penguins Foundation supported the Penguins Wives Association’s efforts for The Shoebox Project. The ladies of the Penguins filled approximately 500 shoeboxes with items that would help any woman feel special. The shoeboxes were then gifted to women’s shelters throughout Western Pennsylvania prior to the holidays.
I chose to support The Shoebox Project because I believe self-confidence is one of the best gifts you can give. The women we serve are so positively impacted by simply receiving something that lets them know they are worthy and are being thought of. It’s not uncommon for the women who receive our gifts to have only a garbage bag to carry their belongings and some have fled difficult circumstances so they have nothing at all. This project would not be possible without the incredible support of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and Citrone Thirty Three Foundation. They have helped us grow to serve every domestic abuse and homeless shelter in Allegheny County. We began with a drive of 50 boxes three years ago and were able to give 499 women a gift this year. GREEN FOR GOOD FEEL IN’ LUCKY During St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the Pittsburgh Penguins sported green jerseys during pre-game warm-ups at back-to-back Penguins home games on March 16 and 17. Proceeds from this fan favorite jersey auction, along with a sale of autographed lucky pucks, raised $57,000 to benefit the Penguins Foundation. The unique set of Gaelic jerseys revealed several unique name translations for the Pens including: Guentzel (“Battle Army”), McCann (“A Wolf Cub”) and Malkin (“Mighty in Battle”).
SPOR T S MAT TER The Penguins proudly supported the DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation’s “Sports Matter” initiative during the 2018.19 season. By wearing green laces and through a special jersey auction on January 4, the team raised both awareness and over $26,000 towards this initiative, which emphasizes that sports make people better by building character, increasing confidence and motivating kids to stay in school. The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation made a $25,000 donation to Hockey Sticks Together’s Pittsburgh I.C.E. program.

THE PURR - FEC T CAUSE PENGUINS & PAWS CHARIT Y PE T CAL ENDAR The Penguins Foundation partnered with Humane Animal Rescue and Rachael Ray Nutrish to create the team’s annual calendar: Penguins & Paws. Featuring adoptable animals and the players’ very own pets, the calendar raised over $74,000 for Humane Animal Rescue, a local shelter in Pittsburgh.
PE T SUPPL IES COL L EC TION The Penguins held their annual Pet Supplies Collection on March 29 to benefit Humane Animal Rescue with an assist from Rachael Ray Nutrish. Since 2012, the Penguins have collected over 6,100 pet supplies and approximately $28,000 to benefit shelter animals thanks to the fan base’s purr-fect generosity.

WISH UPON A STAR PENGUINS FOR A DAY On January 5, Penguins General Manager Jim Rutherford signed three children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation to honorary one-day contracts making them official Pittsburgh Penguins players for the day. The three new members of the Penguins team geared up with their very own Penguins jerseys, hit the ice with their Penguins teammates, received a behind-the-scenes tour of the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex and ultimately lived out their dreams thanks to their hockey heroes at the Pens.

PL AY ALL DAY CNX PL AYGROUND In April, the Penguins Foundation and CNX unveiled a state-of-the-art playground at Northmoreland Park in Westmoreland County, which sees over 100,000 visitors annually. The new playground was greeted by a group of preschoolers eager to test out the facility, which includes the helix, a giant playweb climber, and, of course, swings and a sliding board. Under the Penguins Foundation’s Operation Restore umbrella and the league’s NHL Green initiative, the playground will be an important community asset for children and generations to come.
KABOOM! The Penguins Foundation teamed up with KaBOOM! and Keurig Dr Pepper on ‘Let’s Play Everywhere’ initiatives across Allegheny County. The partnership issued 10 grants totaling $200,000 to create opportunities for free, unstructured, unplanned play to ensure that all kids, no matter where they come from or where they live, get the active play they need to thrive. NEAR NATURE POND HOCKE Y TOURNE Y At Lake Elkie in Ontario, 350 people, including hockey players, patients, hospital staff and their families, stepped into a winter wonderland on February 3 for the inaugural Pond Hockey Tourney, which raised money in support of the Penguins Foundation, Mario Lemieux Foundation, and SickKids. Individuals geared up and played in the 3-on-3 pond hockey tournament while their families enjoyed fun snow day activities at a scenic Canadian winter festival. Led by the Kimel family and friends, the Pond Hockey Tourney raised $18,000 for the Penguins Foundation, while setting the scene for perfect winter memories for SickKids and their families.
THE CASCADES On July 19, the Penguins Foundation held a ceremonial groundbreaking at the Cascades in South Park with Allegheny County, the Allegheny County Parks Foundation, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Citrone Thirty-Three Foundation. This groundbreaking marked the beginning of the restoration of the Cascades, an Operation Restore and NHL Green project, which was originally built in 1927 by Paul Riis. Once complete, the Cascades will provide the community with a historic, educational and fun escape featuring a series of shallow pools and trickling waterfalls. PENS IN THE PARK The Penguins Foundation teamed up with Allegheny County Parks to present the 3rd Annual “Pens in the Park” series. In January, children were invited to the area’s outdoor ice rinks to attend this family-friendly event. Kids had the opportunity to try on hockey equipment and hit the ice with former Penguins Stanley Cup Champion, Tyler Kennedy, and Iceburgh through the Foundation’s Give Hockey a Shot program.

FULL STEAM HEAD S TE AM EDUCATION In 2015, the Penguins Foundation teamed up with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit 3 (AIU3) to create the first-of-its-kind STEAM Lending Library, which allows area schools to borrow the latest in educational technology. Over 40 school districts in Allegheny County have participated in the STEAM Lending Library since its inception, and it continues to grow, with 2,633 items borrowed during the 2018.19 academic year alone. To expand the Penguins Foundation’s efforts in STEAM education, in 2017, the Foundation worked with Seneca Valley School District to fund the conversion of their seven existing libraries into ramped up tech learning centers. These lending libraries, consisting of over 530 items, now provide exposure to educational technology to students in Butler County. During the course of the academic school year, the Seneca Valley program impacted nearly 4,000 students in grades K-6. In 2018, the Penguins Foundation, with the support of a grant from UPMC, provided high-tech, educational devices to expand the STEM Lending Center of Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 (AIU8). This initiative has allowed students from 35 school districts and non-public schools access to STEM learning, impacting nearly 50,000 students in Bedford, Blair, Cambria and Somerset Counties.
Already the lending libraries are generating tremendous opportunities for students. With this PAsmart advanced grant more children will be able to have those wonderful learning experiences. FUTURE GOAL S A league-wide initiative co-sponsored by the NHL and NHLPA, the Future Goals Hockey Scholar program helps students learn science, technology, engineering and math concepts that are present in hockey by using simulations on iPads and computers. To date, Future Goals has reached over 59,000 students and yielded over 154,000 hours of STEM learning opportunities.

TABL E T S IN EDUCATION The Tablets in Education program completed its 6th year providing the latest in tablet technology to elementary school students and children in Allegheny County and the surrounding communities. Over 3,900 Kindle tablets have been provided by the Penguins Foundation to schools enrolled in this innovative and high-tech program. In addition, over 100 apps with an emphasis on education are also available through Tablets in Education, with the Foundation investing over $350,000 in app purchases. Since 2013.14, the Penguins Foundation has supplied Kindle tablets to over 275 elementary schools, educational organizations, and special needs programs, impacting over 100,000 students in 11 counties surrounding the city of Pittsburgh.
The STEM Lending Center at Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 has experienced substantial growth over the past 3 years enriching over 10,000 students in our four county region during the 2018.19 school year. The STEM resources, in the lending center, extend access to the rural schools who are often limited in what they can provide. Through the lending center approach, we are able to empower students for their future and enhance learning experiences for all students within our region. None of this could have been possible without the generous support of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation. Their commitment to advancing STEM education through Intermediate Unit Lending Libraries is commendable and much appreciated. PASMAR T GRANT On February 6, the Penguins Foundation was awarded as the first recipient of the PAsmart advanced grant by Governor Tom Wolf. The $442,000 grant will allow the Penguins Foundation to accelerate the growth of Foundation programs focused on technology in education with the goal of bringing 10 STEAM Lending Libraries to Western Pennsylvania ultimately impacting 400,000 students.

ALL - STAR SCHOL ARS PENGUINS FOUNDATION SCHOL ARSHIP In 2014, the Penguins Foundation created a new scholarship program, which included all Pittsburgh Public Schools plus select schools in Allegheny County. Each scholarship is valued at $1,500 for the first year of college with an additional $1,000 award for the student’s second year if a 3.0 GPA is maintained with a minimum of 24 credit hours earned. In 2018.19, the Penguins Foundation awarded 18 scholarships in partnership with UPMC and with the strong support of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit 3 (AIU3).
BOB JOHNSON MEMORIAL SCHOL ARSHIP In 1992, an annual scholarship was created in memory of Bob Johnson, the Penguins late head coach who led the team to its first Stanley Cup Championship. Co-sponsored by the Penguins Booster Club, the $5,000 scholarship is awarded to a Western Pennsylvania high school senior for academic excellence, community service and for providing leadership and sportsmanship as a member of their high school’s hockey team. To date, 29 Bob Johnson Memorial Scholarships have been awarded, with the 2018.19 Bob Johnson Memorial Scholarship going to Brooke McArdle, a former member of Penguins Elite, who now attends Elmira College.
I would like to thank the Pittsburgh Penguins scholarship committee for allowing me the opportunity to achieve my academic goals while serving my community on and off campus during my first year of college. Off campus, I was able to volunteer my time in assisting the homeless, domestic violence victims, and veterans in the Erie community. On campus, I raised money and awareness for childhood cancer through THON and shared my school pride as a mentor to new and prospective students. I cannot thank you enough for rewarding me with the scholarship which allowed me these opportunities. They have been life changing events. PENGUINS ALUMNI SCHOL ARSHIP The Penguins Alumni Association annually awards a $2,000 scholarship to a Western Pennsylvania high school senior who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, good citizenship, school and community involvement, and has shown an intense love for the game of hockey. Since 2005, the alumni have awarded 15 scholarships to deserving student-athletes. The 2018.19 recipient, Ryan Heil, attended North Allegheny Senior High School where he was a goaltender on the varsity hockey team.

TE ACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
Launched during the 2018.19 season and academic year, We Are the Future provided high school seniors, who are members of the National Honor Society, with the opportunity to receive a pair of complimentary Penguins tickets courtesy of the Penguins Foundation. In total, over 4,600 tickets were distributed to students in the following counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Mercer, Somerset, Washington and Westmoreland.
During Teacher Appreciation Week, the Penguins Foundation highlighted each Penguins Future Goals Teacher of the Month from the 2018.19 season, sharing with the community how these teachers encourage STEM learning in the classroom through Hockey Scholar. The Penguins Foundation also hosted a social media contest for teachers to share how they utilize Hockey Scholar. The winner, Andrew Cress from Duquesne City School District, shared that his students were so engaged with his Hockey Scholar classroom contest, they asked to play it during recess. We appreciate all the work teachers do throughout the year to help in our goal of making sure kids are the future.

The Penguins organization was proud to assist Pittsburgh Public Schools’ annual Take a Father to School Day initiative with this year’s theme: Expect Great Things. Students, fathers, parents and staff were greeted by Iceburgh at Pittsburgh Miller African Centered Academy elementary school in the Hill District. All students were given Penguins goodies at the Take a Father to School Day Rally in May in support of ensuring positive male role models for children in the Greater Pittsburgh community.
In May, the Penguins Foundation was presented with the Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units (PAIU) Friend of Education Award at the PAIU 2019 Conference at Seven Springs. Recognized for dedication to education and ensuring all students have an equal opportunity to learn, the Penguins Foundation received this prestigious award as selected by educators across the state.
This program gives students in all communities of southwestern Pennsylvania the opportunity to be rewarded for their hard work and determination. As educators, we are grateful for the support that the Penguins Foundation continually provides to the learners in our region. ASSISTING THE ARTS VERY SPECIAL AR T S E XHIBIT The Penguins Foundation teamed up with the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV and the Citrone Thirty-Three Foundation to present the annual Very Special Arts Exhibit at the Pew Fine Art Gallery at Grove City College. This 10-day event featured artwork created by students with disabilities from school districts in Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties. Students were able to share their proud creations with family, friends and other artists throughout the exhibit, which highlighted that their talents and imaginations are limitless.

HOL IDAY CARD CONTES T During December, the Penguins Foundation looked for an assist from students in Western Pennsylvania in an effort to share a Penguins message of holiday cheer. The Foundation hosted a contest for children to design the organization’s 2018 holiday card. In total, 12 students were selected for their unique, hockey-themed artwork and were treated to 100 copies of their card design plus party suite tickets to a Penguins game.

RE THINK THE RINK For the second straight season, the Penguins, Covestro and Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Engineering teamed up to “Rethink the Rink” – a unique effort to make the game of hockey safer at all levels. This season, Rethink the Rink challenged CMU students to focus on player safety equipment. A “Make-A-Thon,” held in mid-March, brought students together to uncover material solutions to strengthen player protection without inhibiting performance.

LOVE YOUR MELON RONAL D MCDONAL D HOUSE CARE MOBIL E In 2018.19, the Penguins Foundation announced plans to construct a new Care Mobile in partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown, which will feature a Penguins-themed distraction therapy treatment room. Thanks to the tremendous support of the Penguins fan base, the Care Mobile will be heavily
funded by the Penguins Foundation’s unique Love Your Melon beanies. Sales were driven in large part through designated Love Your Melon Penguins gamedays and efforts by the team and Penguins Wives Association to support the cause. In 2018.19 alone, the Penguins Foundation raised over $80,000 towards the Care Mobile. What is the Care Mobile? • The Care Mobile is a 40-foot vehicle run by the Ronald McDonald House and staffed by UPMC Children’s Hospital. • The Care Mobile provides 17 different services and tests including wellness visits, immunizations, physicals, sick visits and more. • The Care Mobile originally launched in 2000 as the 2nd in the world.
Our Care Mobile program provides a service like no other. It gives children who live in underserved communities in our region the opportunity to access quality medical and dental care right in their backyard. The support of the Penguins Foundation through the Love Your Melon campaign will help us fund a new Care Mobile ensuring children can continue to receive the services they need. L OVE YOUR MEL ON WEEK In celebration of the partnership with Ronald McDonald House, the Penguins Foundation hosted a dedicated Love Your Melon Week to kick-off sales of the 2018.19 edition beanies. Each day of the week marked a special event: December 3: The Penguins Foundation hosted a social media contest for fans to enter-to-win tickets to the December 6 Penguins game. December 4 & December 6: The Penguins Foundation hosted children and families staying at Ronald McDonald House to watch a Penguins game and enjoy once in a lifetime experiences from riding the Zamboni at intermission to high-fiving the team as they came off the ice. December 5: The Pittsburgh Penguins made their annual holiday visit to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh where they spent time with patients and delivered gifts to each room, one gift being a new Penguins Love Your Melon beanie. December 7: The Penguins wives and girlfriends gathered in the kitchen of Ronald McDonald House in Pittsburgh where they cooked an extensive breakfast for families to enjoy before the long day of doctor visits. Each family was given a Penguins Love Your Melon beanie, and even got a surprise visit from Iceburgh.

WHO DO YOU FIGHT FOR? MARIO L EMIEUX FOUNDATION NIGHT The Penguins organization proudly celebrated the 25th anniversary season of the Mario Lemieux Foundation by hosting Mario Lemieux Foundation Night on November 15 at PPG Paints Arena. The dedicated gameday highlighted the impact that the Lemieux Foundation has made on the community related to cancer research and patient care with the Penguins Foundation donating proceeds from the 50/50 Raffle and Gameday Auction to these incredible causes.
BRE AKAWAY FROM CANCER The Penguins Foundation assisted Amgen’s Breakaway from Cancer initiative to stand against cancer and fight for those who have battled or are currently battling cancer. The Penguins Foundation provided $25,000 to aid in this fight during a pre-game check presentation on March 17.
HOCKE Y FIGHT S CANCER Held each November, the league-wide Hockey Fights Cancer (HFC) initiative aims to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. This season, on November 5, the Penguins hosted HFC during that evening’s home game. Cancer patients from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center were special guests of the organization. To draw attention to the cause, the Penguins coaching staff and broadcasters donned purple ties, while the players warmed-up in purple jerseys. In addition, during the Penguins road game on November 23, players used purple stick tape during pre-game warm-ups in support of HFC. Over $40,000 was raised through the Hockey Fights Cancer jersey and stick auction to benefit the Mario Lemieux Foundation and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center!
I don’t think any person in the history of sports has had more of an impact on a franchise than Mario Lemieux on the Pittsburgh Penguins. But beyond being a Hall of Fame player and a Stanley Cup-winning owner, he has made an indescribable impact on the Pittsburgh region with his commitment to the community, especially through the Mario Lemieux Foundation. KEEP YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME HE ADS UP PIT T SBURGH The Penguins Foundation and UPMC Sports Medicine teamed up in 2011 to create HEADS UP Pittsburgh, the first program of its kind and a blueprint for the NHL, to combat an epidemic of concussions in young athletes. The program has expanded each year to serve more youth and to provide the latest training tools to aid in concussion reduction. To date, over 20,000 children have been tested in over 25 sports with education awareness provided to over 50,000 parents, coaches, referees and teachers. In addition, 500+ young athletes are involved in concussion research.

JUST SAY NO HEROIN OUTRE ACH PRE VENTION & EDUCATION ( H.O.P.E. ) The Penguins Foundation and EVERFI partnered to support the FBI Pittsburgh Division and Citizens Academy on their Heroin Outreach Prevention and Education (H.O.P.E.) Initiative in 2018.19. H.O.P.E. teaches students about opioid abuse and provides an understanding of how abuse can be prevented. To put this knowledge into action, students were challenged to create a PSA for entry into a video contest with the Penguins Foundation providing a monetary donation and party suite tickets to the winning schools.
PRESCRIP TION DRUG SAFE T Y In an effort to help address adolescent drug abuse and misuse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Penguins Foundation, Rite Aid Foundation, EVERFI and Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro teamed up to bring the Prescription Drug Safety program, an innovative digital course about prescription drug abuse prevention, to Pittsburgh-area high schools at no cost. The series of six interactive modules educates students on opioids, depressants and stimulants and teaches the appropriate use for each drug, as well as intervention skills.
The FBI Pittsburgh Division’s H.O.P.E. Initiative values it’s corporate and community partners in our goal of raising awareness to our area’s youth on the dangers of opioid misuse and abuse. This project is unique, in that, it creates a peer-to-peer product that can be shared to anyone, anywhere. The students and school districts loved the incentive the Penguins Foundation has provided, and in the end, every team learned more about how severely this affects our community. PENSFIT PensFIT is a Penguins Foundation initiative designed to introduce children to the sport of hockey and facilitate an increase in physical activity by supplying schools with complete sets of floor hockey equipment for use in physical education classes. Since the launch of PensFIT in 2012, the Penguins Foundation has provided free floor hockey equipment to more than 650 schools and community centers in 10 different counties. PensFIT has given over 180,000 students exposure to hockey!

DONATE TODAY PENGUINS BL OOD DRIVES The Penguins organization hosted several blood drives at PPG Paints Arena during the 2018.19 season in partnership with Vitalant (formerly Central Blood Bank). The first blood drive of the season occurred on October 29 in response to the tragic shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. 254 people participated in this initial blood drive, with additional drives held throughout the season, in an effort to provide life-saving assistance for those in need.
ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS Two Penguins fans connected for a life-saving donation thanks to one sign. Kelly Sowatsky, who was in desperate need of a kidney transplant, brought a homemade sign emphasizing “I need a kidney!” to a Pens game, which was seen by fellow fan Jeff Lynd. After discovering that the pair were a match, Jeff donated his kidney to Kelly on November 6 in Pittsburgh. The story caught the media’s attention providing a huge assist to organ donation awareness. To further the call for organ donors, on April 4, the Penguins hosted Organ Donation Awareness Night in partnership with UPMC. Without a doubt, the passion for the Penguins links people, but compassion for our neighbors is what makes extraordinary assists happen.

FOR CHILDREN’S PENGUINS HYDRATION S TATIONS A new initiative for the 2018.19 season, the Penguins Foundation assisted Christopher’s Kitchen in placing 16 hydration stations at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Through these hydration stations, families of patients have access to Penguins reusable water bottles and cold filtered water. There are many things for the families at UPMC Children’s Hospital to be worrying about and access to clean, filtered water should not be one.
DVE ROCKS FOR CHIL DREN’S RADIOTHON In September, the Penguins organization and Penguins Foundation supported the 11th annual DVE Rocks Children’s Radiothon. Penguins alum Colby Armstrong hosted an hour on air driving donations for the kids of UPMC Children’s Hospital. Members of the Penguins, both past and present, assisted with Colby’s fundraising efforts, which resulted in 370 Rock Star donor registrations - a new record for this phenomenal fundraiser!
As a member of the Christopher’s Kitchen Board, every partnership and donation is a step in the direction of our ultimate goal: to ensure that no family has to worry about their basic needs while caring for their healing children. Our partnership with the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation to support the installation of the hydration stations into the hospital is instrumental to not only our foundation, but directly to the patients and families who will benefit from having access to the stations whenever they may need. As someone who has worked in healthcare in many capacities, I am deeply grateful for this specific partnership as I know how great the impact of a simple glass of clean water can be on the overall well-being of anyone involved in the health and care of a child. IN THE ZONE C.O.O.L . ZONE In partnership with Matilda Theiss and the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC, the Children Overcoming Obstacles and Limits (C.O.O.L.) Zone, is an early intervention behavioral health evaluation program for kids ages 3 through 11. Shaped like an “Igloo” to provide a safe space for children, the C.O.O.L. Zone serves children experiencing a range of behavioral and emotional disruptions such as: aggression, anxiety, depression, withdrawal, emotional difficulties and traumatic responses. The “Igloo” is set in a child-friendly classroom space with colorful wall art and toys to help children communicate in therapy in an age-appropriate way. Each space is equipped with the latest activities and items to support each child’s mental health needs including sensory items, calming areas, group activity corners, social-emotional games, private areas and more. Since 2015, the C.O.O.L. Zone has assisted over 240 children in the Pittsburgh region. During the 2018.19 season, the Penguins Foundation opened the 5th C.O.O.L. Zone location at Hosanna House, which is the 1st community-based location!

SID & THE KIDS When our son, Connor, got into the Little Penguins organization, we were all so excited. Not just for being Penguins fans, but also because we received a free complete box of new, quality hockey gear! Of course, we were also a little nervous as nobody in our family had played hockey before. However, the program is so well executed. The instructors were able to quickly assess the players’ skill levels into sub-groups so all beginners could progress and develop at their own comfortable pace. No skater left behind! I was also impressed with the instructor to student ratio. From the first practice session on, they were able to coordinate skill-drills with kids of all skating abilities. Hats off to the Little Penguins coaches… Great work! Our son enjoyed the program very much and wants to keep playing. Thanks Penguins Foundation for the opportunity!

With the tremendous support of Sidney Crosby, the Little Penguins Learn to Play program has given over 12,000 children throughout the tristate area an introduction to the sport of hockey since 2008. With assists from Reebok and DICK’S Sporting Goods, Little Penguins has increased participation in youth hockey among children ages 4 through 9 by providing free head-to-toe equipment, including skates, to all registered participants. In addition, the NHL and NHLPA have adopted the program, which is now a league-wide initiative. 100 lucky kids won the chance to skate with Sidney Crosby by finding a golden ticket in their Little Penguins gear!

HOCKEY IS FOR EVERYONE YOU CAN PL AY In support of the NHL’s “Hockey is for Everyone” (HIFE) initiative, the Penguins celebrated inclusion and diversity in hockey by hosting “Hockey is for Everyone Night” on February 21 during a home Penguins game. The night featured eight special Junior Starters, an intermission contest between members of Pittsburgh Blind Hockey and representation on the concourse from area organizations who fall under the HIFE umbrella. Before the game even began, the Penguins surprised one young fan from the Johnstown Sitting Bulls with a new sled, which was presented by Paralympic Gold Medalist Daniel McCoy. In addition, the Penguins players used rainbow-colored Pride tape on their sticks for pre-game warm-ups with over $11,000 raised to assist You Can Play, an advocacy organization that promotes safety and inclusion for all who participate in sports, including LGBTQ athletes, coaches and fans.
HER HOCKE Y On March 31, the Penguins Foundation hosted the first-ever “Her Hockey Night” during the NHL and NHLPA’s Gender Equality Month. To further engage in the HIFE message, a #HerHockey social media campaign shared stories from both females and males on the impact that this great game has had on women and girls. From never missing a hockey practice to never missing a Penguins game, fans shared how not only the sport of hockey but the Pittsburgh Penguins franchise has shaped their lives and hockey goals. Without a doubt, the highlight of Her Hockey Night was when sisters Talya and Liviya, both goaltenders, took the ice for the National Anthem to stand next to their hero, the Penguins-own Matt Murray.
It’s unique to have three professional teams from two cities representing different sports supporting Point Park University in this exciting esports venture. The Penguins are honored to be part of it.
ADAP TIVE ESPOR T S SUPPOR T The Penguins Foundation proudly supported the inaugural Steel City Showdown, the first major esports tournament in Pittsburgh history, in May at Point Park University. In partnership with the Pittsburgh Knights, CAVS Legion GC and iHeartMedia, the event benefitted AbleGamers, a charity that provides custom gaming setups and assistive technology to people with disabilities - ultimately helping to bring hockey to everyone through the power of video games.

Starting in 2012, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and Highmark partnered to build 12 dek hockey rinks through Project Power Play. The initial phase included a budget of $2.3 million over a four-year period with added support from the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County and the surrounding communities. In 2018, the Penguins Foundation launched the next phase of Project Power Play through construction of two deks.
Launched during the 2017.18 season, Learn to Play Dek Hockey provides a similar product to Little Penguins except it is offered off the “ice” at dek hockey facilities throughout the region. The program provided 1,000 kids with free dek hockey equipment in 2018.19 as part of the 6-8 week “learn to play” session.

In partnership with PittComm, the Penguins Foundation searched near and far for one lucky community rink to receive $100,000 in renovations. More than 400 entries were received with three finalists chosen: Hess Ice Rink in New Castle, Kirk S. Nevin Arena in Greensburg and The Ice Mine in Connellsville. Over 130,000 votes were cast with Hess Ice Rink prevailing as the top votegetter and recipient of the grand prize with plans to improve the rink’s locker rooms, lobby, seating and skate rental. In addition, The Chemours Company, an official partner of the NHL, provided all three finalists with a set of divider boards to assist with their on-ice programming and youth development.
The Penguins Foundation partnered with CHANNELLOCK for a $50,000 donation to grow hockey in Meadville and the surrounding region. The donation made to the Meadville Area Recreation Foundation will assist youth programming at the George S. DeArment Ice Arena.

The Try Hockey for Free program is a great opportunity to introduce children to the game of hockey free of charge and to feel like a true hockey player with head to toe equipment for the session. It is very important for us to provide as many children as possible with a positive first on-ice hockey experience. This program has been a great way to continue to grow the game in Western Pennsylvania by providing a free transition program from our school and dek programs onto the ice. Many of these participants have transitioned into our next step on-ice programs such as local learn to skate and our Little Penguins Learn to Play programs.
Created during the 2016.17 season to provide children with an opportunity to try hockey for free, Give Hockey a Shot was designed to allow young athletes, ages 6-12, to play this great game regardless of income. Give Hockey a Shot allows rinks in the Pittsburgh region to “borrow� one of three fully stocked equipment trailers for up to 30 days with each trailer housing 40 sets of youth hockey equipment.
TRY HOCKE Y FOR FREE Launched in 2017.18, Try Hockey for Free donated 50 sets of youth hockey equipment to 25 rinks in Western Pennsylvania. This donation has allowed the selected rinks to host multiple Try Hockey for Free events - ultimately introducing youngsters ages 4-8 to the sport.

HOCKEY STICKS TOGETHER
The Pittsburgh Penguins organization supported the formation of the Hockey Sticks Together Foundation to oversee programs that embody the NHL’s “Hockey is for Everyone” (HIFE) initiative. Each season, the Penguins Foundation provides a significant monetary contribution to Hockey Sticks Together to share hockey with those who are disabled or underserved. Many milestone moments have occurred for Hockey Sticks Together since its inception. In the fall of 2018, Hockey Sticks Together hosted the first Blind Hockey International Series between teams from Canada and the United States welcoming over 100 vision impaired athletes to the ice. In addition, Hockey Sticks Together hosted the first USA Hockey Special Hockey Classic for over 300 intellectually and cognitively disabled athletes. And, next up, Hockey Sticks Together will host the 2020 USA Disabled Hockey Festival with the support of the Penguins Foundation. The Festival will bring together over 1,700 athletes representing the physically disabled, special needs, blind, deaf and disabled veterans from across the United States to Pittsburgh.

THE SWEETHEART SWING NIGHT OF ASSIS T S Spit shine your shoes… we’re going dancin’! On Valentine’s Day, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Highmark were proud to present the 2nd Annual Night of Assists charity gala in support of the Penguins Foundation. The ice of PPG Paints Arena was transitioned into a dance floor for this 1940s themed event where guests were treated to big band music amidst dapper décor. Penguins players dressed the part with suspenders and newsboy caps, which added to the swing era event vibe. Guests had the opportunity to play casino and themed games with the team, interact with select players in the photo booth or simply chat over crafty cocktails with those tending the bar. Guests attending the V.I.P. Reception, proudly presented by TribLive.com, enjoyed a wine and champagne tasting, while listening to tunes of the times selected by Guest DJ Brian Dumoulin. Without a doubt, Night of Assists: The Sweetheart Swing was THE Pens party of the year! In total, $450,000 was raised for the Penguins Foundation during the 2nd Annual Night of Assists!
Walking into the arena that night was like walking into a time machine and coming out in the swing era where everything from the music to the food was jazzed. Getting to interact with our on-ice heroes in old time photos, playing black jack and even bartending made this night something I will remember for a long time to come. TWO MILLION FOR T WO CHARITIES PENGUINS CHARIT Y NIGHT ON AT&T SPOR T SNE T The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and Mario Lemieux Foundation teamed up for the 8th Annual Penguins Charity Night on AT&T SportsNet on March 16 raising over $2 million for the two foundations in just one day. A total of 8,100 Penguins Charity Bags were sold both online and at the Penguins game. Each Penguins Charity Bag included team merchandise and memorabilia, as well as the chance-to-win an autographed jersey. Since 2012, this annual event has raised over $12 million, with proceeds benefitting the Mario Lemieux Foundation for cancer and neonatal research and the Penguins Foundation’s youth initiatives. Penguins Charity Bags were distributed to each state and province in the United States and Canada with 61% of sales to fans within Pennsylvania!

FUND - RACING 6.6K RUN & FAMILY WAL K The Penguins Foundation and Mario Lemieux Foundation hosted the 6th Annual 6.6K Run & Family Walk presented by Highmark on October 14. Approximately 6,000 runners and walkers participated in support of the charities with the race beginning and ending at PPG Paints Arena. In addition, 400 volunteers assisted thanks to GNC. Once again, Mario Lemieux made the event memorable by congratulating fans at the finish line and members of the Penguins Alumni Association assisted throughout the course route. In total, over $207,000 was raised by organization’s fittest fans to benefit the Penguins Foundation and Lemieux Foundation.

Since its inception, 82,500 students in grades 1-8 have participated in the Penguins Open Practice, while learning about the importance of education, health, nutrition and teamwork.

SUMMER S TICKS GOL F CL ASSIC On September 11, the Penguins organization swung into the new hockey season by hosting their Summer Sticks Golf Classic presented by UPMC and Verizon. For the first-time ever, the event was held at Pittsburgh’s new Topgolf facility where current Penguins players, alumni and coaches joined teams comprised of donors and fans as celebrity golfers in each bay. In total, over $127,000 was raised from Summer Sticks, which will provide scholarships for students from the region pursuing their higher education goals.

THE KIDZ ZONE FREE GAME FOR KIDS To start the 2018.19 season, over 18,000 free tickets were distributed to local youth hockey organizations and children’s charities for the September 23 pre-season game dubbed the Free Game for Kids presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods. A team tradition since 2010, the Free Game for Kids has given our youngest fans an opportunity to attend a Penguins home game with a complimentary ticket courtesy of the Penguins Foundation.

PUCKS & BUCKS 50/50 RAFFL E
GAMEDAY AUC TION
During each Pittsburgh Penguins home game, the Penguins Foundation hosts the ever-popular 50/50 Raffle. Proceeds from the 50/50 Raffle support local 501c3 charities annually through the Penguins Foundation Grant program. Since 2012, the Penguins Foundation has raised over $12 million from the 50/50 Raffle and donated over $6 million in Penguins Foundation Grants. Through eight seasons, the Penguins Foundation’s Gameday Auction has raised over $1.2 million with $133,000 raised in 2018.19 alone. The Foundation’s Gameday Auction is located behind the KeyBank Club at PPG Paints Arena or fans may bid online at pens.givesmart.com. Unique items and autographed pieces are available during each home game - including one-of-a-kind creations from Pittsburgh artists: Cody Sabol, Tempy Moore and Tom Mosser!

WARM - UP PUCK SAL E For the second straight season, the Penguins Foundation gave fans the chance to own a piece of the game through the sale of official game-dated NHL pucks used in pre-game warm-ups by the Penguins. Sold both at PPG Paints Arena and online, this initiative for the Penguins Foundation raised approximately $24,000 to support the Foundation’s youth initiatives.
I started selling 50/50 as a way to earn a little extra money and decided to do something that will make a difference for our community. The Pens Foundation touches so many lives and it makes me proud to be a part of the work they do. We are a great big family all working to make positive improvements in our community. CHERISHING CHARIT Y WENDEL L AUGUS T FORGE COL L EC TION Since 2010, the Penguins Foundation and Wendell August Forge have collaborated season after season to create unique memorabilia for fans to admire and collect, with proceeds benefiting the Penguins Foundation’s youth and special needs programs. The lasting tradition of the Penguins legacy combined with the timeless treasures created by Wendell August Forge have established a fantastic way for fans to cherish their favorite team while fundraising for the futures of children in the community.
The artisans at Wendell August Forge have been working with the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation over 10 years. Each Penguins keepsake gift is handcrafted right outside of Pittsburgh by Penguins fans. This partnership has not only helped our company create and preserve jobs but has help create some of the most unique memorable giftware to share and to showcase for the entire NHL. We are honored to give back a portion of each purchase to the Pens Foundation to support programs that make such an impact on the youth of our community. PENGUINS WIVES ASSOCIATION WEL COME TO OUR TABL E COOKBOOK The Penguins Wives Association designed “Welcome to Our Table” complete with over 70 cherished recipes from the ladies of the Pens. Cookbook sales benefitted a new angel fund, BridgeTogether, created by the Penguins wives and girlfriends with monies set to be gifted to non-profits in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area. To date, over $46,000 has been raised from cookbook sales to support this great city of Pittsburgh, which is so dear to their hearts. HOL IDAY BASKE T S AUC TION In December, the ladies of the Penguins Wives Association created baskets filled with items unique to their significant other for this truly one-of-a-kind auction. Over the past 12 years, the team’s wives and girlfriends have donated over $146,000 to local charities through the Holiday Baskets Auction with $16,000 raised in 2018.19.
SPECIAL VISIT On December 7, members of the Penguins Wives Association made a home-cooked meal for children and families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Pittsburgh. During this visit, the ladies distributed Love Your Melon Penguins knit hats to children, as well as Penguins gifts.
GAMEDAY SUPPOR T Throughout the 2018.19 season, the Penguins Wives Association supported the Foundation’s initiatives in countless ways. Whether it be the annual toy drive, food collection or any other worthwhile cause, you will always find the ladies of the Penguins Wives Association lending a helping hand to the Foundation.

PENGUINS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION CAS T & BL AS T In August, the Penguins Alumni Association hosted its inaugural Cast & Blast for A Cure Fly Fishing Derby with proceeds benefitting the Women’s Cancer Research Center at Magee-Womens Research Institute in Pittsburgh. The event included two days of competition with fly fishing, sporting clay shooting and, of course, campfire storytelling by Pens greats.
SCORING SCHOL ARSHIPS Members of the Penguins Alumni Association were celebrities at the organization’s annual Summer Sticks Golf Classic presented by UPMC and Verizon. Penguins Alumni golfed alongside current players and guests for this unique event held at the new Topgolf facility in Bridgeville in support of the Penguins Foundation’s scholarship initiatives.
ONGOING SUPPOR T During the 2018.19 season, the Penguins Alumni Association continually supported and partnered with the Penguins Foundation. From hockey clinics to scholarship presentations to special appearances, the Penguins Alumni make amazing assists to the Foundation and Pittsburgh community.

UPMC LEMIEUX SPORTS COMPLEX YOUTH HOCKE Y INITIATIVES
FUNDRAISING & E VENT SUPPOR T
The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex is our home away from home for youth hockey programming. The official practice facility of the Penguins hosts camps, clinics, practices and more for future NHL-ers in our region and makes high-level hockey training accessible to young athletes looking to advance in the game. Ranging from teaching the littlest Pens fans to skate to building innovative fitness programs for the next generation, the efforts at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex are focused on growing the sport and showing that hockey is truly for everyone.
Throughout the 2018.19 season, our friends at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex assisted the Penguins Foundation through hosting fundraising endeavors, supporting awareness initiatives and holding Foundation events on-site. The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex staff plays a huge part in building the Foundation’s outreach efforts and are certainly an extension of the Pens Foundation family! THANK YOU! Every experience I have had with this organization has been a first rate and heartfelt experience. Every person I have met in the organization goes above and beyond and the real winners are the kids. I chose to support this foundation when I first learned of it because of my own nephew’s interest in learning to play hockey and my desire to see all kids not only be interested in what I know to be the greatest sport with the best athletes in the world but also to help those kids that need it, that are going through some tough times and difficulties that I cannot imagine. Supporting the Penguins Foundation is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I can’t be thankful enough for the opportunity to do more.
