Bienvenidos Welcome

The end of every year is increasingly more emotional than the last for me, with all our accomplishments. This year in particular, to bring our students to perform in a more prestigious theater has been met with constant challenges and a lot of hard work. It has been a very successful year. As usual, our competition teams upheld their reputation, bringing home top prizes from all the competitions they attended. Our greatest surprise this year was our brand-new Pee Wee team. Despite their young age and the fact that it’s the first time they competed, the girls were able to perform at a competition level and captured the judges’ and audience members’ hearts, bringing home top prizes, as well. Even the students in our regular dance classes proved to be stronger than ever. From the tiny babies learning their first steps, to our older and more experienced dancers, they all demonstrated an extraordinary level of energy and motivation in class, on stage and in front of the cameras. I owe a big part of our success this year to the team that works alongside me: my teachers. They have stood by my side, representing everything this studio stands for— friendship, respect, loyalty and teamwork. Thank you to all the parents for giving us the opportunity to teach your children. Thank you for your trust and loyalty. And to all the dads out there, we wish you all a happy Father’s Day! I also want to take a moment to thank my wonderful parents and brother, who shaped me into the person I am today. My dreams have come true because you always believed in me. A giant ‘thank you’ to all them others who have helped me prepare for this event. I owe you the world for your hard work, cooperation and loyalty. But the ones who really deserve the standing applause are all the students; your children. Day in and day out they give us a level of satisfaction in what we do and are constantly striving to improve. Thank you for reminding me every day that I love my job, and that you are the ones who inspire me. Please, enjoy tonight’s performance of “

She commenced her dancing career with ballet and flamenco at the early age of five. Due to her family roots from Lebanon, she felt compelled to begin studies in Middle Eastern dance when she was 13 years old. Adriana moved from Colombia to Miami in 2001 and throughout the past 10 years, has strengthened her dance technique in varied forms of dance by participating in several National Belly Dance Shows and by attending a myriad of intensive courses and seminars. Prior to her move to the U.S., she was a member of the flamenco company “Triana,” in Colombia from 1999 to 2001. Continuing with her passion for dance, she auditioned and was chosen for the 2003 version of “Duende,” a Spanish ballet with the Florida Dance Festival, directed by the internationally accredited Rosa Mercedes. Adriana also obtained certification in Los Angeles for the new high energy, Latin aerobic style called “Zumba.” She has also participated in numerous activities within the cultural world, with Florida Grand Opera, Miss Hispanic International, Carnival Cruise, such as being a guest on a Telemundo show, musical videos, commercials and the opening of the show “Frecuencia” - a TV show from Emilio Estefan Productions, amongst others. ODAYMIS PEREZ-ROURA

Odaymis’ passion for dance began at the age of four when she took her first ballet class at Mirochnik Ballet. She spent the next few years studying ballet at Mirochnik under the direction of Madelyn Alfonso. When Mirochnik Ballet closed, she went to dance for Ballet Etudes Company of South Florida under the direction of Susana Prieto. During her time at Ballet Etudes she performed in The Nutcracker every year, as well as Giselle, Swan Lake, and Sleeping Beauty, amongst other well-known ballets performed at the Jackie Gleason. It was a wonderful experience she will never forget. She also danced at Dance Attack and performed at competitions nationwide. There

she studied jazz, lyrical, hip hop and modern dance from Cookie Ramos and John Culbertson. It was at Dance Attack that she was able to expand on her ballet foundation and diversify her dance training. In 2008, she auditioned to become a Miami Heat dancer and was selected. She was a member of the squad from 2008 until 2011 and was voted Hottest Heat Dancer of All Time in 2009. She believes dancing for the Miami Heat was a wonderful experience that allowed her to grow into a better performer and provided her the opportunity to study under many great choreographers from around the country. She has been teaching dance for 9 years, and feels blessed to have the opportunity to teach and help shape students into better dancers and performers, as her teachers did for her. The art of dance has become a part of who Odaymis is and she looks to share that passion and inspire all the students she teaches throughout her career.
