SENIOR CAPSTONE PROJECTS

ADAN

ALVARADO

Adan, with a STEM concentration, completed his project by hosting a baseball clinic for children. He researched the importance of childhood physical activity and learning a new sport. He also focused on the valuable lessons learned from being on a team like responsibility, self-confidence, and leadership. Adan hosted a community baseball clinic, inviting both Phoenix Christian elementary students as well as the larger central Phoenix community. Adan put on an incredible camp with 31 children in attendance.

Adan plans to attend Grand Canyon University and study criminal justice. He will also transfer over 30 college credits through Phoenix Christian’s dual enrollment program.

Malia concentrated in STEM during her career at Phoenix Christian. Malia decided on a unique and challenging project, creating an art exhibit displaying the beauty of the human body. Her experience in Honors Anatomy inspired her as she began to contemplate a topic. Malia is also a gifted artist but had spent little time developing that interest. So, an idea was born: The Art of the Human Body Exhibition.

Malia hoped to create unique pieces that depicted “cool” yet overlooked elements of the human body. Her exhibit included seven different pieces using acrylic paint, canvas, clay, and other mediums to showcase “how wonderfully made we are.” The exhibit onlookers were captivated by one of her abstract pieces depicting two people. The rest was left up to viewer interpretation! Malia plans to attend NAU and pursue a degree in environmental science. She will also transfer 16 dual enrollment credits!
