JENTAYU & FRIENDS VISIT 6 October 2019

CARNIVAL OF LOVE

Jentayu and friends band came to visit their favourite kids in PCH. The main reason for this meet-up is to share their music and love with our children. They held live band performances to prove that music is indeed an effective way to channel our emotions be it by singing, song writing or even by playing instruments. With this opportunity given, our residents used this platform to showcase their hidden singing talent. Our residents sang along to their favourite songs and were lucky to be the first few to listen to their new originals. Huge thanks to our friends for spending their weekend with us!

11 October 2019 In conjunction with the Children’s day, volunteers from Happy Sparrow has dedicated their time to spreading love and the joy of gifting to our residents. 20 of our residents had the honour of receiving a gift from their wish list. With big smiles and joyous hearts, they continued the day with games and prizes won during the carnival organised by our volunteers. What more can a child ask for than to be able to spend his day filled with laughter and gifts? Utmost thanks Mr Jack for initiating this gleeful and jovial day!

pertapis children's home TRADITIONAL GAMES WITH MASJID HAJI YUSOFF 12 October 2019 Keeping up with the theme of the day, Masjid Haji Yusof introduced some of the traditional games played during the old days. After a few rounds of mental games such as teka-teki and berbalas pantun, they proceeded with a few other physical games. Most of the activities are games that our residents are familiar with, congkak for instance, batu seremban (5 stones) and capteh. Each resident had a chance to try out a few rounds of each game along with the volunteers from Masjid Haji Yusof. But the game that had most attention was lereng which involves rolling a bicycle tyre controlled by a metal piece. As it was their ďŹ rst encounter, they had a hard time managing the direction of the rolling tyre. All in all, thank you volunteers of Masjid haji Yusof for the endless support!

WEEKEND WITH OUR FAVOURITE KIDS (SPF) 24 October 2019 Once again, our friends from Singapore Police Force (SPF) team took a day o from their busy schedule to spend some time with our residents. ARTJAM

RIVER SAFARI

15 November 2019

18 November 2019

The objective of this event is to raise awareness about plastic reduction and its impact on the marine ecosystem. As the residents are very interested in painting, the volunteers initiated a painting challenge to portray their love for marine life and what are the damages that humans have done over time. With this purpose in mind, they were set on creating the best art piece they could come up with as guided by our volunteers. The results were commendable and impressive. Thank you Kathyrn and Alicia for organising this great event!

As per the tradition, Masjid Haji Yuso brought our residents for an outing at the end of each semester. As we know, our world is experiencing multiple world crises, including animal extinction. Thus, Ustaz Ari brought them to River Safari with the purpose of cultivating and encouraging them to care and love animals with hopes that they would contribute to saving the environment. This trip proves that islam does not only encourage us to be respectful to others, but also to care for all living creatures by protecting and preserving the beauty of the world.
