Tabung Amal Jariah Community Project SUSS Virtual Community Engagement Fair (30th Sep) We have been invited by Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) to be one of the speakers in their annual Community Engagement Fair this year. It is held by SUSS annually to introduce to their new undergraduates of the various community engagements available. We were invited to share about TAJ Community Service and how TAJ has been collaborating with SUSS students since 2015 – via the ‘Learn, Love, Live’ (LLL) group – to provide weekly tuitionmentoring sessions as well as recreational outings for the children & parents of our TAJ beneficiaries. We also shared our plan to expand our collaboration with SUSS to provide opportunities to their Social Work undergraduates to do their field work or case study or attachment with us. It is a good opportunity to share with the new undergraduates, to create awareness on what we do, who are our beneficiaries and how we help them. We hope that the brief sharing will spur the passion of these undergraduates to contribute back to the community.

Monthly Ration Distribution – Expansion of Home Delivery We have been delivering food rations to the homes of some 20 of the vulnerable amongst our TAJ beneficiaries. With this increase number for home delivery, we will be collaborating with volunteers to deliver the much-needed rations to the vulnerable beneficiaries.

Tuition for primary & secondary school-going TAJ Children (Year 2022) With COVID-19 affecting the financial stability of our beneficiaries, some are having difficulties to send their children for tuition which deprives them of the support they need to fulfil their potentials due to circumstances that they are in. Therefore, we are currently working to match our beneficiaries with the tuition centres nearest to their residence, one of which is the MENDAKI Tuition Scheme (MTS), and to financially support them so that the TAJ children who are in primary and secondary schools could receive the necessary support for their academic performance.

Major Event Qurban Meat Distribution (25th July) Qurban Meat Distribution is one of the most anticipated annual event in PERTAPIS that is held every Hari Raya Haji. Hari Raya Haji is when Muslims are reminded of the significant events of the family of Prophet Ibrahim that teaches about placing complete faith & trust in God. Muslims will be clad in their finest clothes and congregate in the mosques to listen to sermons and offer prayers.

One of the most significant ritual observed during this period is the sacrifice of sheep, goat or cow (Qurban) which are then distributed to the worshippers and the needy. This charitable practice of distribution to the needy holds a valuable lesson for the Muslims which is to remember God’s blessings and share with others who are not as fortunate.

Major Event - Page 33

Major Event This year, 173 goats and 8 cows were sacrificed and distributed. Before COVID, those who contributed the sacrificial meat (i.e., the Jemaah) would personally come to collect the sacrificed meat.

This year however, due to the COVID restrictions imposed during that time, the sacrificed meat was packed and delivered to homes of the Jemaah by a team of staffs and volunteers. A portion of the sacrificed meat were then distributed to our TAJ beneficiaries so that they can also celebrate the festive season and remember God’s blessings. Necessary precautions were taken to ensure the safety of our staffs and volunteers throughout the preparation and home delivery to the Jemaah.

Major Event - Page 34

Major Event Our deepest appreciation to all our Jemaah who have opted to perform their Qurban with PERTAPIS, and to the team of staffs and volunteers for their support in making the event a success.
