BUILDING ON FAITH
At Pensacola Habitat for Humanity, we believe that building homes also means nurturing hope, connection, and spiritual well-being. As part of that mission, our Faith Relations Coordinator, Monique Turner, is here to support homeowners who would like to integrate faith into their homeownership journey.
Monique is available to coordinate home blessings, assist those looking for a church home, connect homeowners with faith-based counseling, and help individuals or congregations explore how they can support Pensacola Habitat for Humanity’s work. MONEY MINDFULNESS
MENTAL HEALTH AND HOME OWNERSHIP
A stable home is a foundation for emotional and financial well-being but it also takes mindful care to maintain both. This Mental Health Awareness Month, take a few small but powerful steps: Set a Home Care Budget: Create a simple monthly plan for regular maintenance and unexpected repairs to avoid financial surprises and reduce stress. Prioritize One Financial Goal: Whether it’s paying down debt, building savings, or preparing for a project, focusing on one goal at a time can bring a greater sense of control and peace of mind. Protect Your Space and Routine: Make your home a stress-reducing zone. Small actions like creating a cozy corner, scheduling a "no-spend" day, or planning regular quiet time help protect both your mental health and your budget Strong financial habits support a stronger, calmer home life and caring for both your house and your mind helps you thrive for the long run.

SEASONAL HOME MAINTENANCE
SEASONAL YARD
CARE
Your lawn will need to be mowed more frequently. Aim to mow your lawn often enough so that you're removing no more than one-third of the grass blade length at each mowing session.
Leave grass clippings on the lawn whenever possible, as they can provide valuable nutrients to the soil and help retain moisture.
FIRSTAID
Apply a layer of organic mulch, such as pine straw, wood chips, or shredded bark, around trees, shrubs, and garden beds to help retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature.
Adjust your watering schedule during periods of heavy rainfall to avoid overwatering and waterlogging the soil
Your lender may require you to maintain a termite bond for the life of your mortgage. Schedule your annual termite inspection.
MATT’S MAINTENANCE MINUTE
"While Florida may not face frequent wildfires, fire safety is still essential, especially during barbecue season. May is National Wildfire Awareness Month and National Barbecue Month, making this the perfect time to check your grill setup, store flammable materials properly, and keep outdoor spaces clear of debris. Simple precautions can help protect your home, your family, and your neighbors"
