Days of Elijah

MAH KOUYATE, SOLOIST • CHANCEL CHOIR

REFRAIN:

Behold He comes! Riding on a cloud!

Shining like the sun! At the trumpet call, Lift your voice! Year of jubilee!

Out of Zion’s hill salvation comes!

These are the days of Elijah,

Declaring the Word of the Lord; And these are the days of Your servant Moses, Righteousness being restored;

And though these are days of great trials, Of famine and darkness and sword;

Still we are the voice in the desert crying “Prepare ye the way of the Lord!’” REFRAIN

These are the days of Ezekiel!

The dry bones becoming as flesh.

And these are the days of your servant David

Building the temple of praise.

And these are the days of the harvest, The fields are as white in the world; And we are the laborers in your vineyard

Declaring the word of the Lord! REFRAIN

There’s no God like Jehovah!

There’s no God like Jehovah!

There’s no God like Jehovah!

There’s no God like Jehovah!

You’ll Never Walk Alone/Climb Every Mountain RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN/ARR MARK HAYES

When you walk through a storm, Hold your head up high

And don’t be afraid of the dark. At the end of the storm is a golden sky And the sweet silver song of a lark.

Walk on through the rain,

Though your dreams be tossed and blown. Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart, And you’ll never walk alone.

You’ll never walk alone.

Climb every mountain, Search high and low.

Follow every byway, Every path you know.

Battle Hymn of the Republic

Mine eyes have seen the glory

Of the coming of the Lord; He is trampling out the vintage

Climb every mountain, Ford every stream.

Follow every rainbow, Till you find your dream!

A dream that will need

All the love you can give.

Every day of your life

For as long as you live.

Climb every mountain, Ford every stream.

Follow every rainbow

Till you find your dream!

CHANCEL CHOIR

Where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning

Of His terrible swift sword: His truth is marching on.

REFRAIN

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His truth is marching on!

I have seen Him in the watchfires Of a hundred circling camps;

They have builded Him an altar

In the evening dews and damps; I can read His righteous sentence In the dim and flaring lamps, His day is marching on!

REFRAIN

In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in His bosom

That transfigures you and me:

As He died to make men holy,

Let us live to make men free,

While God is marching on.

Sure On This Shining Night

CHANCEL BELLS

Sure on this shining night

Of star made shadows round,

Kindness must watch for me

This side the ground,

On this shining night, This shining night.

Chanson de Matin

The late year lies down the north,

All is healed, all is health.

High summer holds the earth.

Hearts all whole.

Sure on this shining night.

I weep for wonder

Wandering far alone

Of shadows on the stars.

Sure on this shining night.

Sous le ciel de Paris

ALVARD MAYILYAN, SOLOIST • MATTHEW KAMINSKI, ACCORDION

TRANSLATION:

Under the sky of Paris, a song flies away

It was born today in a young man’s heart

Under the sky of Paris, lovers walk around

Their happiness builds upon

A tune made for them

Under Bercy bridge a philosopher sits

Two musicians, some onlookers,

Then thousands of people

Under the Paris sky, they’ll sing until dusk

The hymn of people in love with this old city

Near Notre Dame, sometimes drama broods

But at Paname, everything comes together

Rays from the summer sky, sailor’s accordion

Hope blooms in Paris’ sky.

HUBERT GIRAUD

ALVARD MAYILYAN, SOLOIST • MATTHEW KAMINSKI, ACCORDION

TRANSLATION:

What good is it, love?

People are always telling their foolish stories. But what good is it, love?

Love can’t be explained; It comes, just like that, From where no one knows And suddenly it takes hold. Me, I’ve heard it said That it makes you suffer It makes you cry, What good is it?

It brings us joy with tears in our eyes, It is sad and marvelous. People say it’s a deceiver, That there is one

in every pair

Who is never happy.

Even when one has lost,

A love one knew, There is a taste of honey, Love the eternal That’s all very pretty, But when all is over and done, It leaves you nothing

But a huge unhappiness.

All that now seems

To be tearing you apart, Tomorrow will be A memory of pure joy.

All in all, if I understand it, Without love in your life,

Daniel, Daniel, Servant of the Lord

Without its joys and sadness, You’ve lived for nothing. Ah yes. Look at me. I have believed in it every time And will believe always. That is what love is for.

But you, you are the last You are the first.

Before you there was nothing; With you I feel fine. It is you who I want, you who I need, You whom I will love always: That’s what love is for.

PEACHTREE CHORALE

REFRAIN

Oh, the king cried, “Oh! Daniel, Daniel, Oh, Daniel, Daniel, oh! That-a Hebrew Daniel, Servant of the Lord!”

Among the Hebrew nation.

One Hebrew, Daniel was found. They put him in a-the lion’s den. He stayed there all night long. REFRAIN

Now the king in his sleep was troubled, And early in the morning he rose, To find God had sent a-his angel down To lock the lion’s jaws! REFRAIN

I Know I’ve Been Changed TRAD SPIRITUAL/DAMON DANDRIDGE SEAN SAVAGE, SOLOIST • PEACHTREE CHORALE

I know I’ve been changed the angels in heaven done signed my name

I prayed all night, I prayed all day too, I’ll keep on praying ‘til I come through.

I stepped in the water and the water was cold It chilled my body but not my soul

If you don’t believe I’ve been redeemed, Just follow me down to that Jordan stream

Beautiful River (Shall We Gather at the River)

TRADITIONAL/ARR JOHN RUTTER

CHANCEL CHOIR

Shall we gather at the river, Where bright angel feet have trod; With its crystal tide forever

Flowing by the throne of God?

Yes, we’ll gather at the river, The beautiful, beautiful river, Gather with the saints at the river That flows by the throne of God.

On the bosom of the river, Where the Savior King we own, We shall meet, and sorrow never, ‘Neath the glory of the throne.

Yes, we’ll gather at the river, The beautiful, beautiful river, Gather with the saints at the river That flows by the throne of God.

Ere we reach the shining river, Lay we every burden down; Grace our spirits will deliver, And provide a robe and crown.

Yes, we’ll gather at the river,

The beautiful, beautiful river, Gather with the saints at the river That flows by the throne of God.

Soon we’ll reach the shining river, Soon our pilgrimage will cease; Soon our happy hearts will quiver With the melody of peace.

Yes, we’ll gather at the river, The beautiful, beautiful river, Gather with the saints at the river That flows by the throne of God

I’ll Be On My Way

SEAN SAVAGE, SOLOIST • CHANCEL CHOIR

When I am gone, don’t you cry for me, Don’t you pity my sorry soul. What pain there might have been Will now be past and my spirit will be whole.

I’ll be on my way, I’ll be on my way.

I’ll have left my feet of clay upon the ground, I will be glory bound, I’ll be on my way.

When I am gone, please forgive The wrongs that I might have done to you; There’ll be no room for regrets up there, High above, way beyond the blue.

I’ll be on my way, I’ll be on my way.

I’ll have laid my frown And all my burdens down, I’ll be putting on my crown,

I’ll be on my way.

When I am gone, don’t you look for me

In the places I have been; I’ll be alive but somewhere else, I’ll be on my way again!

I’ll be on my way! I’ll be on my way!

I will lift my wings and soar into the air, There’ll be glory everywhere, I’ll be on my way.

I’ll be on my way! I’ll be on my way!

I’ll have laid my frown

And all my burdens down, I’ll be putting on my crown, I’ll be on my way.

I’ll have left my feet of clay upon the ground, I will be glory bound, I’ll be on my way!

MAH KOUYATE, SOLOIST

When I think of home, I think of a place

Where there’s love overflowing

I wish I was home, I wish I was back there

With the things I’ve been knowing Wind that makes the tall grass

Bend into leaning,

Suddenly the raindrops that fall

Have a meaning, Sprinkling the scene, Makes it all clean.

Maybe there’s a chance for me to go back

Now that I have some direction;

It sure would be nice to be back home

Where there’s love and affection

And just maybe I can convince time to slow up, Givin me enough time in my life to grow up:

Time be my friend, And let me start again.

Suddenly my world’s gone And changed its fate

And I still know where I’m going I have had my mind spun round in space

And watched it growing

And if you’re listening, God, Please don’t make it hard

To know if we should believe

The things that we see

Tell us should we try and stay

Or should we run away

Or will it be better just to let things be.

Living here in this brand new world

Might be a fantasy

But it’s taught me to love, And its real, so real to me

And I’ve learned that we must look

Inside our hearts to find

A world full of love, like yours,

Like mine: like home!
