WHY WE GIVE THANKS

Psalm 100

A Prayer for Giving Grateful Praise

1. Because His Joy Is Everywhere

The invitation to worship is universal.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. (vv. 1-2)

2. Because He Made Us His Own

The reason to praise is personal.

Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. (vv. 3-4)

3. Because His Goodness Never Ends

The practice of thanks is continual.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. (vv. 5-6)

Daily Dwell: November 2-November 8

Know that the L ord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.” - Psalm 100:3

ALL SAINTS DAY

For centuries, the Christian Church has recognized those who have been “promoted to the church triumphant.” In our services today, in the closing hymn/song, we will remember those members of this community of faith, who in the last twelve months have gone on to enjoy the direct and eternal presence of our loving God.
