“A Welcoming and Inclusive Community is a community where its citizens and members feel safe, respected and comfortable in being themselves and expressing all aspects of their identities. It is a place where each person shares a sense of belonging with its other members. It is home.” (www. mcos.ca). Both big and small actions can help to build community. As an individual, you can build community through participation, volunteerism and connecting with others. At Peachland Recreation, we have many opportunities and experiences to help you achieve that goal. From our programs and activities to our volunteer opportunities, we work to provide a diverse range of opportunities for our residents and visitors alike. As well, the District has launched a program where you can recognize neighbourly acts in Peachland. Do you know someone who helps in the community or helps a neighbour? If yes, you can nominate them for a Good Neighbour Award. See p. 4 for details.
