FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MUSICMAKERS WORKSHOP PRESENTS: THE SUBURBS, JULY 8TH AT RECORDBAR, KANSAS CITY, MO Kansas City, MO -- The self-proclaimed “failed piano player”/songwriter John Velghe is set to perform at the first Notes to the Soul MusicMakers Workshop at the Recordbar Kansas City on July 8th. Velghe will be the opening act for The Suburbs. Velghe is a fixture in the local Kansas City scene. For more than 18 years Velghe has been recording albums and composing scores for film and tv. While he has released numerous albums for Lakeshore records, it is his latest work The Prodigal Sons that have given him as he puts it “ambitious vocal reach and vista-vision poetry.” Velghe describes his latest release Organ Donor Blues as an album for rocks true believers and a bare-knuckled face off with reality. Velghe will open for The Suburbs a Minneapolis outfit who like Velghe bring their own unique take on the spirit of rock and roll. Both acts will be performing at the first of the three Notes to the Soul MusicMakers Workshops. MusicMakers Workshop is an education event, designed to teach musicians the business side of music.
