MOUNTAIN GRAVITY 2013

Anche quest'anno l'ultima settimana di Agosto si è svolto uno degli eventi più attesi dell'anno, principalmente per gli amanti del mountain swooping e dei lanci in una delle location più suggestive. Anche questa edizione si è mantenuto l'evento a numero chiuso tramite registrazione online obbligatoria, cercando di puntare sempre più sulla qualità che sulla quantità mantenendo così più attenzione sull'aspetto sicurezza. Scelta che ha ampiamente ripagato organizzatori, load organizers e partecipanti regalando: 185 paracadutisti iscritti, 132 decolli di beech 2403 lanci di cui 594 mountain swooping e 1809 in caduta libera 18 nazioni presenti. Paracadutista d'eccezione il nostro mitico Rodolfo “Nuvola” Emondi, 82 anni, che ha effettuato anche un super salto in head down 4way con me, Martijn e Ilaria Iannopollo. Il meteo, contro ogni aspettativa basata sui vari servizi di previsione, ci ha permesso di saltare tutti i giorni, la temperatura è stata decisamente migliore dell'anno passato regalandoci giornate estive negli ultimi 5 giorni. E' proprio vero che, come viene detto le prime volte quando si è allievi, per sapere se farà bello bisogna spegnere computer/telefono e andare in dz. Quest'anno il livello dei “mountain swooper” si è decisamente alzato: flyers molti bravi da tutta Europa hanno effettuato voli davvero emozionanti ed adrenalinici sulle due linee (Vince ed Henry, Alberi e Canyon) permettendo di “swoopare” in formazione a 3-4 con dei video che lasciano a bocca aperta! Lanci di mountain swooping, freefly, rw, wingsuit e quest'anno anche la presenza in campo di Brian Vacher del PD Factory Team con un corso vele di tre giorni. Come al solito, tutte le sere cene organizzate in hangar in clima familiare dalla famiglia Jotti che durante l'arco della giornata hanno ricoperto un pò tutti gli incarichi: dal manifest al bar, da pilota tandem a cuoco, da ground control alla gestione dei diversi problemi organizzativi. Dopo cena, la visione del video della giornata montato in real time da un “video man” professionista ha permesso a tutti di divertirsi guardando i vari voli del giorno. Anche stavolta il Mountain Gravity si è confermato come uno degli eventi top dell'anno!

During the Mountain Gravity event at Ambri, Switzerland another Wingsuit Work-Shop was held by Oliver & Reto. 12 jumpers participated during this two days event and made many flight together. First some pilots made distance performance flights, afterwards different flock dives have been organized. It was amazing flying over the mountains into the valley within large wingsuit formations.

Durante il Mountain Gravity ad Ambri, Svizzera un altro Wing Suit Work-Shop Ă¨ stato organizzato da Oliver & Reto. Dodici Paracadutisti hanno preso parte a questo evento di due giorni, facendo molti lanci insieme. Anzitutto alcuni piloti hanno effettuato alcuni voli sulla distanza, quindi sono stati organizzati diversi lanci di gruppo. The UK Head Down Record Andy Ford

With so much hype this year about the Euro record, as well as the next World Record planned a few years down the line there has been a wave of interest in learning the art of big vertical formation flying. A great stepping stone to these big records are national records. With the help of the Bad Lieutenants the UK record has been steadily building momentum every year. But the biggest challenge, as with most records, is getting the talent all together. This year was no different. We had aspirations of smashing the previous record, but when you don’t get everyone returning from the previous year, firstly you have to use your new flyers to fill the slots left open from those who didn’t return. Then you need addition flyers to build up the numbers even further to set a new and bigger record! So going from the previous record of 28 to anything in the 30s is actually a really big deal! So… There we were, Hibaldstow in the UK, 3 Dornia G92s ready to get this record breaking crew off to a flying start! We had 3 days of warm up jumps the days prior to the records with Frazer Smith, so those that wanted to warm up had the option. Come the weekend things got serious, it was record breaking time! The first few jumps saw the usual teething problems, people being uncurrent or rushing things due to the added stress, but as we got through the weekend, people really started to pull their game together. Come Sunday we set a new UK Vertical Record of 30, which was AWESOME! We finished out the weekend with some attempts to go even bigger, but unfortunately it was a step too far, although it did give a chance to the people on the bench to join the record attempts and to get some valuable big way experience. A Massive Thank you to Skydive Hibaldstow for their MEGA support of the event and a massive congratulations to the Bad Lieutenants for once again pulling out another successful UK Vertical Record! Quest’anno con così tante apsettative per l’Euro Record, come per il prossimo Record del Mondo in programma tra un paio di anni, c'è stato un grande interesse per imparare la tecnica del volare nelle grandi formazioni verticali. Un grande trampolino di lancio per questi record più grandi sono i record nazionali. Con l'aiuto dei Bad Lieutenants il record nel Regno Unito è in costante ingrandimento anno dopo anno. Ma la sfida più grande, come con la maggior parte dei record, è sempre di unire tutti i talenti insieme. Anche quest'anno non è stato diverso. Con il proposito di infrangere il record già stabilito, ma quando non sono presenti tutti i partecipanti al record dell'anno precedente, è anzitutto necessario rimpiazzare con i nuovi freeflyer gli slot lasciati liberi da chi non si è presentato. Allora bisogna aggiungere flyers in un numero ancora maggiore per poter stabilire un record più grande! Quindi, passando dal precedente record, con una formazione a 28 elementi, a qualsiasi altra formazione più grande di 30 elementi è davvero una grande sfida! Quindi... ci siamo, Hibaldstow - Regno Unito, 3 Dornier G92s pronti a decollare per stabilire questo record! Ci sono stati 3 giorni di lanci di warm up prima dei tentativi di record con l’organizzazione di Frazer Smith, così quelli che volevano allenarsi ne hanno avuto la possibilità. Nel fine settimana le cose si sono fatte serie, era il momento record! I primi lanci hanno avuto i soliti problemi iniziali, persone non del tutto preparata o troppo affrettata a causa del maggiore stress, ma come siamo entrati nel fine settimana, i freeflyer hanno davvero iniziato giocare insieme la stessa partita. La Domenica abbiamo stabilito il nuovo UK Vertical Record a 30 elementi, FANTASTICO! Abbiamo terminato il weekend con alcuni tentativi di formazioni ancora più grandi, ma purtroppo era un passo troppo lungo, anche se è stato un modo per dare una possibilità alle persone in panchina di unirsi ai tentativi di record e per fare una preziosa esperienza di grandi formazioni. Un enorme grazie a Skydive Hibaldstow per il MEGA supporto alla manifestazione e tantissime congratulazioni ai Bad Lieutenants per aver, ancora una volta, organizzato con successo un altro UK Vertical Record! 106 way sequential - Skydive WORLD RECORD 2013 –Empuriabrava (Spagna)

In Empuriabrava (Spain) from 18th to 22th September there was the “Skydive European Challenge 2013” , the event where the European and World sequential Record was attempted. It’s Purpose was to realize several different formation in one jump. The group included 106 skydivers coming from many European countries: France, England, Belgium, Germany, Swizzerland, Italy, Russian, Sweden, Norway, Ukraina and Poland. 106 skydivers: The base was formed by 24 elements, plus 34 others who always remained in their grip during the execution of the points; around that group there were 48 people divided in 6 groups with 8 elements, connected to the base with another skydiver. These 48 were the skydivers who had to change their figures and come back in grip after different signals (including myself, Alessandra). Bruno Brokken

Exit altitude was initially at 5.800 meters and required the use of oxygen, then it increased in the last jumps to 6.000 meters. The break off altitude was: 1st wave 2000 meters; 2nd wave 1.700 and 3rd wave 1.400 meters. Opening altitude: between 1.000 and 800 meters. The 1st European Record: 2 points in 106 skydivers surprised everyone for the speed in which it was obtained and the time taken to achieve the record. The average skill level was very high with maximum concentration, with everyone focused on their own performance. In the case of mistakes, there were up to 25 skydivers from Alpha Team ready and willing to substitute. This “easy” and quick result has immediately given Patrick Passe the opportunity to raise the bar of the challenge: new goal was to obtain 3 sequential points with 106 skydivers, who we were able to achieve the new target at the first attempt. We immediately increased the target to 4 sequential points in RW 106 : it is incredible, we achieved this result at the first attempt again. By now, we were exited but still in totally focused, so we also tried the realization of 5 sequential points always with 106 skydivers, and with great effort the result arrived: The WORLD RECORD! Huge satisfaction! Thanks to all the Team Captains: Patrick Passe, Martial Ferrè, Milko Hodgkinson, Victor Kravtsou, Alia Veselova, Tom Claeys, Lesley Gale, Herman Landsman, Pal Bergan and Stéphane Mattoni; for their excellent work to optimize and improve the performance of the individual in their sector. Thanks to 5 excellent Videomen: Andrey Veselov, Bruno Brokken, Gustavo Cabana, Alexander Khabibulin and Henny Wiggers; for their superlative work, because the International judges of the FAI, evaluated the success of a figure (everyone had to keep the grip) just based on the pictures and not from the videos. So for the 5 points made in one jump, judges have valueted 5 photos, one for each formation. Also great work by the Pilots of the 7 planes: 2 Twin Otter, 2 Beech, 1 Dornier, 1 Caravan e 1 Pilatus, because their planes had different speeds and characteristics, and they were able to achieve optimal formation of the aircrafts for our exits. Thanks to PATRICK PASS for his excellent organization and great professionalism, as always at the highest level in the world, in fact it was a WORLD RECORD! Already several days before the event, he sent to each of the 106 skydivers, by e-mail, all the figures programmed with the slots assigned for the plane and formation. The organization accompanied the event by providing a self-service breakfast and lunch, and evening free beer, as well as 2 parties with buffet: one to welcome us at the beginning and one on the last evening of the closure; everything always gratis! Then, a giant screen was mounted and projected in continuous videos of our jumps and an announcer described them and commented live to the large audience. We were 3 Italians: Davide Coin, Claudio Serafini and myself Alessandra Bertozzi; very proud to be part of the selected group by Patrick Passe to achieve the World Record, as well as the European one! The emotion I felt was very strong, and the magical feeling I have inside me, it wakes me up every morning with a big smile and stays with me all day: Thanks Patrick! A Empuriabrava in Spagna dal 18 al 22 Settembre, si è svolto lo “Skydive European Challenge 2013”, evento in cui si è tentato il record Europeo e Mondiale di grandi formazioni sequenziali, ossia realizzare più formazioni durante lo stesso lancio. Il gruppo era composto da 106 skydivers provenienti da molti paesi Europei: Francia, Inghilterra, Belgio, Svizzera, Germania, Italia, Russia, Svezia, Norvegia, Ucraina e Polonia. 106 SKYDIVERS: La base era formata da 24 elementi, più altri 34 che rimanevano sempre in presa (durante l’esecuzione dei punti); attorno a quel gruppo c’erano gli altri 48 elementi, suddivisi in 6 gruppi di 8 elementi, connessi con la base tramite un altro skydiver. Questi 48 elementi erano quelli che ai vari segnali dovevano cambiare figura e tornare in presa (tra cui io ed Alessandra). La quota di uscita inizialmente era di 5.800 metri e richiedeva l’uso dell’ossigeno, poi è stata alzata negli ultimi lanci a 6.000 metri. Le derive di fine lavoro erano suddivise su 3 livelli: 1°livello a 2000 metri; 2° livello a 1700 e 3° livello a 1400; apertura del paracadute tra 1000 e 800 metri. Il 1° record Europeo di 2 punti in 106 skydivers ci ha sorpreso per la velocità con cui siamo riusciti a raggiungerlo: il livello medio era molto elevato, la concentrazione massima e ognuno di noi era focalizzato sull’ottimizzare la propria performance. In caso di errore erano già in attesa circa 25 skydivers dell’Alpha Team, prontissimi a subentrare. Questo “facile” e veloce risultato ha immediatamente portato Patrick Passe ad alzare il livello della sfida: nuovo obiettivo era 3 punti sequenziali a 106 skydivers, che abbiamo raggiunto al 1° tentativo. Abbiamo quindi alzato ulteriormente la posta a 4 punti sequenziali in RW 106: ed incredibile, anche questo risultato lo abbiamo raggiunto subito al 1° tentativo. Oramai eravamo elettrizzati ma sempre in grande concentrazione ed abbiamo tentato anche la realizzazione di 5 punti sequenziali sempre in 106 skydivers, e con tanto impegno il risultato è arrivato: è RECORD del MONDO! Enorme la soddisfazione! Grazie a tutti i Capitani di squadra: Patrick Passe, Martial Ferrè, Milko Hodgkinson, Victor Kravtsou, Alia Veselova, Tom Claeys, Lesley Gale, Herman Landsman, Pal Bergan and Stéphane Mattoni; per il loro ottimo lavoro di ottimizzare e affinare le performance dei singo-

li nel loro settore. Eccellenti i 5 Videomen: Andrey Veselov, Bruno Brokken, Gustavo Cabana, Alexander Khabibulin e Henny Wiggers; per il loro superlativo lavoro, poiché i giudici Internazionali della FAI valutavano la riuscita di una figura (ovvero la chiusura delle prese) solo in base alle foto e non ai video. Quindi per i 5 punti realizzati in un lancio, hanno valutato 5 foto, una per ogni formazione. Grande anche il lavoro dei Piloti dei 7 aerei: 2 Twin Otter, 2 Beech, 1 Dornier, 1 Caravan e 1 Pilatus, che, essendo diversi e quindi con velocità e caratteristiche differenti, sono riusciti a realizzare formazioni ottimali per le nostre uscite. Grazie a PATRICK PASSE per la sua eccellente organizzazione e grande professionalità, come sempre ai massimi livelli mondiali, infatti è stato Record del Mondo! Già diversi giorni prima dell’inizio dell’evento, aveva inviato a ciascuno dei 106 skydivers, via e-mail, tutte le figure programmate con gli slot già assegnati ad ognuno di noi, sia nella formazione che sugli aerei. L’organizzazione ha corredato l’evento mettendo a disposizione un self-service per la colazione e il pranzo, e la sera birra; oltre a 2 party con ricco buffet: uno di benvenuto all’inizio e uno l’ultima sera di chiusura; il tutto sempre offerto! E’ stato montato poi un gigantesco schermo che proiettava in continuo i video dei nostri lanci e un presentatore li descriveva e commentava in diretta per il numerosissimo pubblico. Noi Italiani eravamo in 3: Davide Coin, Claudio Serafini e io Alessandra Bertozzi, molto fieri di far parte del gruppo selezionato da Patrick Passe per realizzare il Record del Mondo, oltre a quello Europeo! L’emozione provata è stata fortissima, e la sensazione magica che porto dentro mi sveglia ogni mattina col sorriso e mi accompagna per tutto il giorno: grazie Patrick! The 2013 European Challenge and Freefly Record. Fingertips! That was difference between a record and a fail! Between Success and catastrophe! The 2013 Euro record really put the “Challenge” into the European Challenge event in Empuriabrava which combined both a 100 way plus FS sequential and the 100 way plus freefly Euro record. Coming into the event there had been much hype about Skydive Dubai buying Skydive Empuriabrava, everyone was wondering how it would affect things on the DZ and what changes, if any, would be made. The Euro record itself also had a lot to live up to with big talk of going three digits for the first time as well as monthly big way training camps throughout the year leading up to the attempts. But it seemed this year the biggest deciding factor turned out to be experience, or lack thereof. We really missed a majority of the most experienced European flyers, the type of flyers you would usually be able to rely on in the formation to always do their job. While it might seem obvious, it’s an issue that on previous records hasn’t had such an impact. But for various rea-

sons due mostly to time or money we were missing those that we would normally count on. As with most records there is always the expectation to go bigger and take the next big step, especially as you near such a milestone as 3 digits. But when you lack some of the experienced flyers from the previous record firstly you have to bring in new people just to get ack up to the size of the previous record, then you need even more new flyers to go bigger. So while it would seem a logical to step to go from the previous Euro record of 80 to 100 plus, when you actually look at it, it’s a giant leap! It means you need a further 15 to 20 flyers to replace those who were unable to make this record, then a further 20 to 25 flyers to make that next step. To get 35 to 45 new people who are ready to be a part of a big way of that size is no easy task. This brings us back to the finger tips. You can imagine that each flyer is like a betting chip, and when you have fewer chips you have to spread them out a little thinner to cover a greater area, it’s not even like you have a choice, you have to work with what you have and being the best engineer and putting people in the best possible slots is still no substitute for experience. So going into our final attempt of the event we knew it was crunch time. Up until that point we had not come close to completing the formation so we knew it was anything but certain. A clean exit gave us a chance, but as it started to build I could see across the formation some bumping and banging with some people falling out of slot. It was tense; they got back in but just as the other side of the formation started to break off. Was it a record? We landed and went straight to watch the video, it was definitely close, if it was a record it was by the skin of our teeth! We presented it to the judges and then had the agony of waiting to see if they would make it an Official record. An hour later they called us out onto the grass for some TV game show style suspense to let us know if it was a record or not. Luckily this time those finger tips were all touching and officially set a new European Freefly record of 96! Massive Congratulations to all those flyers that stepped up this year and put in so much hard work to make this record happen. It is only because of these dedicated flyers that it was possible to go so big! Thanks to all the Babylon crew and Skydive Empuriabrava staff for putting such an Awesome event together, it was great to see a real “professional” looking event, even if it was for a bunch of freeflyers! Sul fil di lana! Era minima la differenza tra lo stabilire il record e fallirlo! Tra il successo e la catastrofe! L’Euro Record 2013 è stato davvero una "sfida" (Challenge) nell’evento European Challenge a Empuriabrava che ha radunato più di 100 paracadutisti per l’FS sequential e più di 100 per l’Euro Record di freefly. Con l’avvicinarsi dell’evento c’era stato molto clamore sull’acquisto di Skydive Empuriabrava da parte di Skydive Dubai, tutti si chiedevano quali effetti ci sarebbero stati per la DZ e quali cambiamenti, se del caso, sarebbero stati fatti. Anche intorno l’Euro Record vi è stata tanta attesa a iniziare dalla formazione per la prima volta a tre cifre, così come i training camp mensili di big way organizzati durante tutto l'anno. Ma sembrava che il fattore decisivo di quest'anno sarebbe stato l'esperienza o la sua mancanza. Abbiamo davvero sentito la nostalgia della maggior parte dei più esperti flyers europei, il tipo di paracadutisti su cui di solito si può contare nella formazione e che sono sempre in grado di fare il loro dovere. Anche se può sembrare ovvio, è un problema che nei record precedenti non ha avuto un tale impatto. Ma per vari motivi dovuti per lo più al tempo o ai soldi mancavano proprio coloro su cui avremmo normalmente contato. Come con la maggior parte dei record c'è sempre l'aspettativa di fare una formazione più grande e tentare una grande impresa, soprattutto quando si è vicini a un traguardo da 3 cifre. Ma quando mancano alcuni dei freeflyer con l’esperienza del record precedente in primo luogo si devono inserire nuove persone solo per arrivare ad avere la formazione del record precedente, quindi si ha bisogno di un numero maggiore di nuovi flyers per una formazione ancora più grande. Così, mentre sembrerebbe logico passare dall’Euro Record precedente di 80 a 100 e più elementi, quando si guarda in faccia la realtà, ci si rende conto che è un passo da giganti! Significa che sono necessarie altre 15-20 persone per sostituire coloro che sono stati in grado di fare questo record, poi altri 20-25 freeflyer per la formazione più grande. Mettere insieme da 35 a 45 nuovi flyer che sono in grado di far parte di una big way di quelle dimensioni non è un’impresa facile. Questo ci riporta al fil di lana. Si può immaginare che ogni flyer è come una fiche da giocare, e quando si ha un piccolo numero di fiches le devi saper disporre per poter coprire un'area più grande, non si può neanche scegliere, si deve lavorare con quello che si ha, essere il miglior ingegnere e mettere le persone nelle migliori posizioni possibili dato che non vi è alcun sostituto con la giusta esperienza. Quindi man mano che si avvicinava il tentativo finale del Record abbiamo capito che eravamo in crisi. Fino a quel momento non eravamo andati vicino a chiudere la formazione, quindi sapevamo che era tutt'altro che facile. Un’uscita pulita ci ha dato la possibilità di farlo, ma come ha iniziato a costruirsi ho potuto vedere attraverso la formazione che vi erano alcuni urti e scontri tra alcune persone che andavano fuori dal proprio slot. C’era tensione, sono ritornati a loro posto, ma proprio nel momento che dall'altro lato della formazione hanno iniziato il fine lavoro. Il Record era chiuso? Siamo atterrati e siamo andati a vedere il video, ci eravamo andati davvero vicino, se fosse stato record era per il rotto della cuffia! Lo abbiamo presentato ai giudici e poi ha avuto inizio l'agonia dell’attesa per vedere se lo avrebbero ufficializzato. Un'ora dopo ci hanno chiamato fuori sul prato, come in quei programmi televisivi pieni di suspense, per dirci se avevamo o meno chiuso il record. Per fortuna questa volta c’erano tutte le prese e ufficialmente avevamo stabilito il Nuovo Record Europeo di Freefly a 96 elementi! Tantissime Congratulazioni a tutti i freeflyer intervenuti quest'anno e che cel’hanno messa tutta per rendere possibile questo Record. E’ solo grazie a questi motivati freeflyer che è stato possibile andare così alla grande! Grazie a tutto lo staff dei Baylon e al personale di Skydive Empuriabrava per aver messo insieme un evento così impressionante, è stato bello partecipare a un evento dallo stile così "professionale", anche se si trattava di un gruppo di freeflyers! KL Tower BASE jump 2013

The annual KL Tower BASE jump event took place last September in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the Menara KL Tower. The building, 429 meters high has an exit ramp at 300 meters and hosts this event already since more than a decade. This year we were 103 basejumpers from 20 different countries, totalizing 2870 jumps in 4 days and 3 nights, 800 more jumps than the last edition. The significant fact is that this has been so far the safest edition with solely one incident with minor injuries reported. The Italians were 3: myself, Marco Luigi Regina (Swiss citizen) and Ivan Colella. The guest stars: Chris "Douggs" McDougall, who delighted us with an aerials seminar at the opening ceremony day, Fred, Vince and Jean-Philippe (Soulflyers), Carlos Briceno from Venezuela, Kristian Moxnes (Skywalkers), Rob Heron. Significant is also Lonnie Bissonette's performance, who jumped the tower 4 times on his wheelchair, and Sean Chuma's, who did 2 tandem basejumps. The organization was gorgeously led by the local staff and directed by australian veteran Gary Cunningham, president of the Australian BASE Association. Several local and international sponsors were supporting, including Apex Base. There were also 2 other BASE jumping events in Malaysia: Sibu BASE Jump 2013 off Wisma Sanyan in Sibu, Sarawak, East Malaysia on the island of Borneo. Standing at 126 meters, Wisma Sanyan is the tallest building in Sarawak. And Gua BASE Jump 2013 of a 96 meter cliff at Gua Damai Extreme in Kuala Lumpur. Lo scorso Settembre si è svolto a Kuala Lumpur in Malesia l'annuale raduno di BASE presso la KL Tower (Menara). L'edificio, alto 429 metri nel suo complesso ha la rampa dell’exit per lanciarsi a 300 metri, ospita i basejumpers oramai da più di 10 anni. Quest'anno eravamo in 103 provenienti da 20 paesi, sono stati effetuati 2870 salti in 4 giorni e 3 notti, 800 circa in più dell'edizione precedente, il dato interessante è che questa è stata l'edizione migliore dal punto di vista della sicurezza vi è stato solo un piccolo incidente. Tre gli Italiani presenti: il sottoscritto, Marco Luigi Regina (residente in Ticino - Svizzera) e Ivan Colella. Tra i personaggi illustri Chris "Douggs" McDougall, che ci ha illuminati nel giorno della cerimonia di apertura con un seminario sugli aerials, ovvero le figure acrobatiche basilari, Fred, Vince e JeanPhilippe dei Soulflyers, Rob Heron, Carlos Briceno dal Venezuela, Kristian Moxnes degli Skywalkers. Nota di rilievo per la partecipazione di Lonnie Bissonette che ha effettuato 4 salti seduto sulla sua sedia a rotella, e di Sean Chuma che ha effetuato due tandem basejump. L'organizzazione è stata egregiamente curata dal disponibilissimo personale locale e gestita dall'oramai veterano Gary Cunningham, presidente della Associazione Australiana di BASE. Tra gli sponsor, locali e non, era presente Apex Base. Ci sono stati anche altri due eventi di BASE in Malesia: il Sibu BASE Jump 2013 dal Wisma Sanyan a Sibu, Sarawak, nella Malaysia orientale, sull'isola di Borneo. Our team did about 70 jumps per person in 4 days... all kinds of jumps, you can try many different things because of the shape of the tower! The night jumps are incredible, it's so beautiful to jump on top of Kuala Lumpur, next to the Petronas towers illuminated! it's also a good time to jump with all our friends! You can maximum do 4 ways and maximum 3 ways linked, maximum 6 seconds freefall delay”.

Questo è un evento super divertente perché si può saltare legalmente e in modo sicuro per 4 giorni dalla torre. Il nostro team ha fatto circa 70 salti a testa in 4 giorni... tutti i tipi di salti, è possibile provare cose differenti a causa della forma della torre! I salti notturni sono incredibili, è bellissimo saltare dall’alto di Kuala Lumpur, accanto alle torri Petronas illuminate! E’ stata anche una buona momento per saltare con i nostri amici! Si può al massimo fare un 4 way e al massimo 3 way in presa, al massimo 6 secondi di caduta libera.”

Colombian wingsuiter Jhonathan Florez was crowned champion of the Second World Wingsuit Championship on October 13th 2013. Florez edged ahead in the final held at Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province - China, with a jump of 23.40 seconds, followed by US flyer Noah Bahnson and Frenchman Vincent Descols. During the two round final, eight finalists leaped from a 1,480 meter mountain cliff and whizzed through a 1.2 kilometer long course, including along a valley and past another mountain ridge, before landing by parachute on a mountain road. The rules were simple: the fastest one to complete the course wins. With speeds of up to 180 km per hour and steep terrain all around, there was no margin for error. French flyer Vincent Descols led in the first round with a jump of 23.74 seconds, followed by British athlete James Boole and Tony Uragallo. However, Florez came from behind in the second round with an overwhelming performance at 23.4 seconds, breaking the tournament record of 23.41, which was was set by South African Julian Boulle last year. Florez, who has more than 10 years' experience in wingsuit flying, with 4,000 skydives and 3,000 wing-jumps, made headlines last April as he won four world records for wingsuit flying, including the longest wingsuit flight in terms of duration and the highest altitude wingsuit jump. He was ranked fourth in last year's First World Wingsuit Championship, which was held in the same venue

Il Wingsuiter Colombiano Jhonathan Florez è stato incoronato quale Campione della Seconda Edizione del World Wingsuit Championship lo scorso 13 Ottobre. Florez ha battuto i suoi diretti avversari nella finale tenutasi presso Tianmen Mountain a Zhangjiajie, nella provincia di Hunan - Cina, con un salto di 23,40 secondi, seguito dallo Statunitense Noah Bahnson e dal Francese Vincent Descols. Nel corso della finale disputatasi su due round, gli otto finalisti hanno saltato da un dirupo di 1.480 metri dalla montagna e hanno sfrecciato per un percorso di 1 kilometro e 200 metri, lungo una vallata e passando sul crinale di un’altra altura, prima di atterrare con il paracadute su una strada di montagna. Le regole sono semplici: il più veloce a completare il percorso vince. Con velocità fino a 180 km all'ora e il ripido terreno tutto intorno, non c'era alcun margine di errore. Il Francese Vincent Descols era in testa nel primo round con un volo di 23,74 secondi, seguito dall’atleta Britannico James Boole e da Tony Uragallo. Tuttavia, Florez ha rimontato nel secondo round con una performance travolgente in 23,4 secondi, infrangendo il record del torneo di 23,41 fissato dal sudafricano Julian Boulle lo scorso anno.

World Cup finished, last round was cancelled due to weather. My last jump of the competition was a perfect 100 in accuracy! That means the Triple Crown. In the last 2 years I became a National Champion, an International Champion: the World Cup Champion, the World Champion, and the World Games Champion. I’ve learned how to deal with crushing nerves at the highest level of my sport. I've become a much more patient competitor. I’ve learned how to deal with pressure being put on me, and I’ve learned how to turn the screw and put pressure on others. I’ve learned to fight through pain, injury, and disappointment. I’ve learned that no matter what, no one can take anything away from you if you don’t let them. I’ve learned how to truly believe in myself and allow my full potential to be released. I’ve learned how to be a great team mate and be there for them when they need me, not just when it’s convenient. I also learned that I need them and couldn’t have done any of it without them. The people you surround yourself can make all the difference. But most of all, I have learned to never take anything for granted and no matter the excuse, everything comes down to the decisions you make, and the actions that you take. You need to be the one to take control and make things happen. If you never go out and attack your dreams with all of your heart, they will never become reality. Right now I am living my dream and I couldn’t have asked for a better journey! E’ terminata la Coppa del Mondo, l’ultimo round è stato annullato per il maltempo. Il mio ultimo lancio di gara è stato un perfetto 100 nell’Accuracy! Questo significa Tripla Corona! Negli ultimi 2 anni sono diventato Campione Nazionale (Stati Uniti) e Campione Internazionale: Campione della Coppa del Mondo, Campione del Mondo e Campione dei World Games. Ho imparato come affrontare la tensione nervosa al più alto livello nel mio sport. Sono diventato un competitore molto più paziente. Ho imparato come affrontare l’essere messo sotto pressione, e ho imparato a rigirare la situazione mettendo sotto pressione gli altri. Ho imparato a gareggiare con il dolore, le ferite e la delusione. Ho imparato che niente e nessuno può distarti se non glielo lasci fare. Ho imparato a credere veramente in me stesso e saper esprimere il mio pieno potenziale. Ho imparato ad essere un ottimo compagno di squadra e di essere presente quando si ha bisogno di me, non solo quando mi fa comodo. Ho anche imparato che ho bisogno del mo team e non avrei potuto fare nulla di tutto questo senza di loro. Le persone che ti circondano possono fare la differenza. Ma più di tutto, ho imparato a non dare mai nulla per scontato e che non contano le scuse, tutto dipende dalle decisioni che prendi e dalle azioni che si fanno. Many stunts that were done under the auspices of Bjørn Magne Bryn team with Voss Ventus and Nick Batsch, TJ Landgren, Jonathan Flores and Katie Hansen. Swoop in on a quad bike at high speed on the field or on a yellow Ford Mustang roared down the runway at up to 100 km/h. It was made two XRW stunt of high precision which meant formations with both parachute and wingsuit. XRW is short for Extreme Relative Work. The canopies were Petra and produced by NZ Aero Sports. They range in size from 67 to 74 square feet and has a wing loading of 3.0. In the first stunt jump Voss Ventus out of a plane at full height. Four pulled immediatly and the fifth, Katie Hansen, flew wingsuit. Cameraman stood back and filmed while Bryn, Landgren and Batsch booking their canopies in a horizontal line across the flight direction, with some distance between them. Hansen managed to fly wing suit her at the same speed and angle, meters below TJ Landgren. Hansen came closer and closer and finally surfed Landgren stable atop her back for about 20 seconds. In the second stunt wingsuit pilots Katie Hansen and Colombian Jonathan Florez flew together with Bjørn Magne Bryn, under his canopy. They flew on opposite sides of Bryn, found the same speed and he took hold of his hands. Bryn, who was coordinator of XRW stunts, told that it is the first time these stunts successfully in Norway.

Molte acrobazie e stunt sono stati fatti grazie a Bjørn Magne Bryn del team Voss Ventus e con Nick Batsch, TJ Landgren, Jonathan Flores e Katie Hansen. Swoopare su un quad che corre ad alta velocità su un campo o su una Ford Mustang gialla mentre ruggisce in pista fino a 100 km/h. Sono stati fatti due lanci di XRW ad alta precisione, cioè formazioni con paracadute e tuta alare. XRW è l’abbreviazione di Extreme Relative Work. Si sono utilizzate delle vele Petra prodotte da NZ Sports Aero, di dimensioni 67 - 74 piedi e con un carico alare di 3,0. Nel primo lancio il team Voss Ventus ha saltato dall’aereo in quota. Quattro a vela aperta e la quinta, Katie Hansen, in volo con la tuta alare. Il video è rimasto indietro a filmare mentre Bryn, Landgren e Batsch hanno diretto le loro vele in una traiettoria orizzontale nella direzione di volo, tenendo la distanza tra loro. Hansen è riuscita a volare con la tuta alare alla stessa velocità ed angolazione, alcuni metri sotto TJ Landgren.

Hansen si è avvicinata progressivamente fino a farsi surfare da Landgren in modo stabile per circa 20 secondi. Nel secondo lancio i piloti di wingsuit Katie Hansen e il colombiano Jonathan Florez hanno volato insieme a Bjørn Magne Bryn, a vela aperta. Hanno volato affianco a Bryn, con la stessa velocità e afferrandogli le mani. Bryn, che è stato il coordinatore dei lanci di XRW, ha affermato che è la prima volta che questo tipo di lanci vengono effettuati con con successo in Norvegia.
