Julho de 2018 July 2018 Estimados sócios: E assim, como que a voar, se passaram seis (6) meses após a minha tomada de posse como presidente da Direcção do PACC. As celebrações do Dia de Portugal no fim de semana de 8, 9 e 10 de Junho do corrente, decorreram com muito sucesso, graças a todos os voluntários que, amávelmente , disseram presente e não negaram esforços para dar a sua habitual e preciosa ajuda. A todos, muito obrigado. A visita do rancho "Sonhos de Portugal" vindo propositadamente de Kearny, NJ, foi uma enorme atracção, que maravilhou a assistência com a sua actuação. Para eles, o nosso muito obrigado. Ao nosso rancho "Corações de Portugal", obrigado também pela linda actuação e por ter sido um excelente anfitrião do rancho visitante. Agradeço ainda a todos os elementos que trabalharam e tomaram cargo de todo o serviço do Domingo, dia 10. Muito, muito obrigado pela preciosa ajuda.
Dear Members: And just like that, six (6) months have passed since I took the position of President of PACC Board of Directors. The Day of Portugal celebrations that took place on the weekend of June 8, 9 and 10, 2018, were a great success thanks to all the volunteers that so graciously came to help, and there were many. I thank them all very much from the heart. My appreciation goes also to all those that came and gathered in the lot for the raising of the flags of the United States and Portugal. Although, as Portuguese, it is a must, it was nice to see so many. The visit of the folklore group "Sonhos de Portugal" that came from Kearny, NJ, was a big attraction and they did an outstanding work with their performance. I thank them very much. I also thank our group "Corações de Portugal" not only for their amazing performance as well, but also for taking charge of the food service on the Sunday festivity.
As obras de melhoramentos continuam em curso à medida do possível. Ainda por concluir está o projecto da cobertura da área dos assadores, que será terminado logo que possível. Mais alguns projectos estão em mente, mas como requerem aprovação dos nossos sócios, daremos conta deles num futuro próximo.
The work outside continues as best as possible. The roof over the barbeque area is going well and although it's not concluded, it will soon be. A few more projects are in mind, however, as they require the member's approval it will be discussed at a later date.

Já está aberto o período de inscrição para Bolsas de Estudo do Portuguese American Cultural Center, da cidade de Palm Coast. O objectivo deste programa é ajudar financeiramente e assim criar oportunidades aos jovens Luso descendentes, abrindo-lhes caminho no mundo académico e mais tarde para o seu futuro profissional. É o 7° ano consecutivo que PACC vai atribuir bolsas de estudo a familiares dos seus sócios, e sendo sua intenção ajudar o maior número de estudantes possível, os candidatos interessados tem à escolha a bolsa de estudo mais indicada às suas qualificações: ACADEMIC MERIT SCHOLARSHIP - bolsas de estudo por mérito acadêmico - com ênfase no aproveitamento escolar CULTURAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP - bolsas de estudo por mérito cultural - com ênfase na cultura portuguesa e voluntarismo na comunidade portuguesa O formulário de inscrição já está disponível na sede do PACC ou através dos portais abaixo indicados, onde poderá fácilmente ser descarregado. The application period for the PACC Scholarships is open. The program’s objective is to financially help and open opportunities to young people of Portuguese descent, opening ways in the academic world and later for their professional carreers. This is the 7th consecutive year that scholarships are awarded to member’s families, and the intent is to help as many students as possible. The candidates have a chance to opt for the scholarship that they most qualify for: ACADEMIC MERIT SCHOLARSHIP – w/emphasis in scholastic grades and merit CULTURAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP -- w/emphasis in portuguese culture and volunteerism in the portuguese community The scholarship winners will be announced during the Dinner Ceremony on October 13, 2018, in the Hall of PACC in Palm Coast. O CONVÍVIO DOS LAVORES CONTINUA A RECREAR E A FAZER O BEM Estamos a meio de 2018 e as Senhoras do Convívio dos Lavores divertem-se nos jogos de cartas, de Dominó e de Rummikub, mas continuam sempre a fazer o bem. Angariaram fundos para o PACC com a intenção de um soalho novo para o salão, $500 e agora mais $300, novas cobertas para as cadeiras do salão usadas pelo aniversário $550, uma oferta para a Juventude do PACC de $150 e agora mais $100, uma ajuda financeira para a Menina Miriam de Orlando $100. O objectivo primário é divertirem-se mas o objectivo secundário, não de menor importância é o de ajudar o próximo. E assim é… todas as Quintas-feiras depois das 2 da tarde cá estamos a disfrutar a camaradagem e a compartilhar a generosidade! Todas serão bem-vindas!

Mid-year and the ladies of the Convívio dos Lavores continue to enjoy many games. Not only do they have fun but also do generous acts of kindness. Recently they’ve donated $800 to PACC, $200 to the Juventude do PACC, purchased chair covers for special events$550 and gave $100 to Little Miriam from Orlando to help defray the medical expenses for her recovery. Every Thursday after 2 PM! A JUVENTUDE DO PACC / PACC’S YOUTH GROUP Como a comunidade portuguesa e muitos dos sócios têm conhecimento, os jovens da Juventude do PACC têm sido incansáveis na sua ajuda durante os eventos desempenhando muitos dos trabalhos necessários para o sucesso das festas durante metado do ano de 2018. Debaixo da chefia de Emily Dias, os jovens são os vountários de que tanto precisamos num centro cultural como o nosso. E não só, são também o nosso futuro e como tal devem ser reconhecidos e apoiados. As Senhoras do Convívio dos Lavores reconheceram estes jovens com uma ajuda monetária de $150 e agora ofereceram mais $100, para na sua próxima reunião, eles comprarem pizza (comida favorita). Bom trabalho! Most PACC members know that the elements of the youth group, Juventude do PACC, have been extremely helpful during the club’s events during the 1st half of 2018. Under the leadership of Emily Dias they’ve proved to be not only necessary volunteers, an excellent dedicated force, but are also the future of our center and for that, they should be appreciated, nourished and cherished. The ladies of the Convívio dos Lavores have recognized this wonderful group of energetic younsters with $150 and now w/an additional $100 for their pizza as a bonus for their next group meeting.
