Having the staff network and being able to meet with other LGBT staff has given me more confidence to be out which in turn helps me feel part of the University. The fact that UWE are also aiming to be a Stonewall Diversity Champion has also given me confidence that my employers are keen to improve equality and would support me should I ever experience discrimination in my job.” Richard West who works in Marketing adds “I’ve found UWE a very open and friendly place to work. Never had a worry about being myself”. Our Equality and Diversity champion, Assistant Vice Chancellor Professor Ron Ritchie who is active in promoting LGBT equality at senior level says “UWE’s strong commitment to becoming an inclusive university must not be compromised in these challenging times. We believe that an inclusive university benefits all students and staff”. We welcome and value the wide range of talents and perspectives which come from a diverse workforce. If you would like to find out more about opporunities at UWE, how it is for LGBT staff to work at UWE or any LGBT equality work at UWE including support for LGBT students please contact the Equality and Diversity Unit.
