Welcome to Out Bristol an independent community magazine and website for the LGBT+ communities of the West of England.

Established in 2008 as an independent free access website and guide that joins up the dots to create a hub linking to further support and information.

The website and guide quickly turned into a magazine with the same aims as the website as a hub, showcasing what’s on in the region for LGBT+ people. This developed to linking with the tourism board to showcase the great things happening in the city region. The site is now the LGBT+ tourism site for the region, with links to information on where to stay, attractions, festivals and the LGBT+ Scene.

We have an open source policy for the site, magazine and social media which means all outbristol

content comes directly from the source as they have sent it #nofilter. Our communities are diverse and editing content to one single voice when we are many voices does not allow for free expression.

Out Bristol has over 80 contributors via its social media, website and magazine and we welcome people to contribute to the website and magazine as the more voices the better.

Out Bristol is your virutal community centre, home of your Out Bristol Magazine. We’re a hub hosting a space to plug your events, social groups and news and we’re 100% independent and non for profit.

KOC go West! That’s right the Kings of Colour Initiative are hitting the road to take over Brizzle Boiz, Bristol’s premier night of queer punk drag king cabaret for a decadent DOUBLE SHOW. The KOC Initiative has been storming the London cabaret scene with their sell out hit shows. Set up by rising star Zayn Phallic to address the lack of diversity on the drag king scene, their aim is to celebrate and nourish POC performers by not only showcasing their talent in their own exclusive night, but by providing mentoring and support to new kings of colour keen to take to the stage. The night is a showcase for local talent and a platform to showcase local acts.

David Stuart first coined the term “Chemsex” 17 years ago, with the purpose of identifying a unique kind of drug use, specific to gay men and gay hook up culture. He has since gone on to develop the world’s first chemsex support services, is considered the world expert on chemsex, leading the healthcare and community responses to this complex community issue.

For more than 15 years, David Stuart has been observing, campaigning, raising awareness and developing community and healthcare responses to what has come to be known internationally as ChemSex/PnP culture. David identified, named, defined and led the community and public health responses to ChemSex, on international fronts.

He has played a leading role in the development of London’s pioneering ChemSex support services Antidote, Club Drug Clinic and CODE clinic; he currently manages the ChemSex support programmes at 56 Dean Street sexual health clinic in London. David has been instrumental in placing ChemSex issues firmly on international Public Health agendas, and his sexual wellbeing and ChemSex support models of care have been adapted for use and applied in many dozens of cities around the world. He has been consulted by the governments and public health bodies of many countries across the Americas, Europe and Australasia, including the World Health Organisation/UNAIDS.

David created the European ChemSex Forum to support European Healthcare providers and communities to respond to international ChemSex trends and share good practice; the first of these was delivered in London in 2016 partnership with ReShape, GMFA and 56 Dean Street.

In addition to his management and practitioner roles, David is a researcher, policy-maker, educator, writer and lecturer on the issues of sexual wellbeing culture, substance use and HIV. WWW.OUTBRISTOL.CO.UK

David is also recognised for his work within communities, generating dialogue and community discussion around issues that challenge sexual wellbeing among modern gay communities. He does this by nurturing burgeoning activists and artists to use their mediums as social commentary, in theatre, photography, spoken word, written word, performance art and other artistic expression; all designed to inspire and engage populations in action and dialogue on topical and challenging psychosocial/psychosexual issues that impact sexual health, wellbeing and community. David has commissioned and produced two plays from playwright Patrick Cash; The Clinic, and The ChemSex Monologues (the latter of which has since enjoyed international successes). David and Patrick also launched the community event “Let’s Talk About Gay Sex and Drugs”, an openmic evening where the community gathers, cabaret style, to see ChemSex issues explored through artistic expression. These events have been franchised out in various forms to other cities around the world. Other events include Sextroverts Comedy, where complex issues associated with gay mens sexual wellbeing is explored through stand-up comedy, and the ChemSex photography exhibition by Matt Spike.

Lets Talk has proved to be a remedy for many people from a lot of the toxicities of modern life; sex, mental health, drugs, coping with the harsh and oftentimes overly complicated world. Lets make this happen in Bristol!

All people of all genders and sexualities welcome to come and share poetry, music, what’s on their mind, comedy, interpretive dance. All participants will be given 5 minutes to do and say whatever they please in a loving, supportive atmosphere. Want to speak but don’t know what to talk about? We have set the theme of this event as “beginnings” Featured Speakers Mikey Moss 24 from Manchester, living in Bristol for 4 years. 1 year recovered from Chemsex and keen to help anyone who feels they have no one to turn to.

Aidan Abet - Co-founder of ACT UP Bristol David Stuart - David Stuart first coined the term “Chemsex” 17 years ago, with the purpose of identifying a unique kind of drug use, specific to gay men and gay hook up culture. He has since gone on to develop the world’s first chemsex support services, is considered the world expert on chemsex, leading the healthcare and community responses to this complex community issue. David is also the co-founder of the original “Let’s Talk About Gay sex and Drugs” event in London.

Patrick cash is a writer and spoken word poet. He has written five plays, including The Chemsex Monologues and The HIV Monologues, which are both published by Oberon Books. His plays have been performed in London, Sydney, Paris, and Dublin. As a poet, he has performed at Shakespeare & Company in Paris, the ICA and Latitude Festival, and released a single with KDA. He has been placed on the Pride Power List, published in The Observer.

Launched in 2008, with the first ever Pride festival being held in Swindon. In 2009, the Pride event was expanded to incorporate Swindon & Wiltshire Pride.
