blance to his family members, including his brother, father, mother and great grandparents. The book took approximately one year to complete. “There are not many children’s books that depict children of diverse backgrounds,” said Lynn. “We wanted to create a book that promoted diversity, so the readers can more easily connect to the story and their heritage.” Lynn used Create Space to self-publish the book. The book’s website, www.guesswhodinosaur.com, contains a link to Amazon, where it sells for $7.99. All of the profits will be used to help pay for Chris’ college. Chris has already had book signings at his school and church. He also plans to use the book to make a difference in the community. He will be setting up book signings and readings at organizations that promote childhood literacy. When Chris is not involved with his book, he enjoys playing with his friends, reading, horseback riding and playing basketball. Chris came up with all of the comparisons. For example, a brachiosaurus and a giraffe both have long necks; a triceratops and rhinoceros both have horns on their faces; and a parasaurolophus and a duck both have duck-billed shaped mouths. At the end of the book, readers can use their creativity to color a brachiosaurus. They can also play Dino Match-up, by matching similar animals and dinosaurs and writing each of their names. Once the book was written, the next step was to have it illustrated. The settings are some of Chris’ favorite places, such as a museum, park, classroom and the beach. All of the characters come from diverse backgrounds. Many of them intentionally bear a close resem-
