If you would please indulge me one more acknowledgement of this year’s Heart of Broomfield Awards, as an honoree this year I wanted to take an opportunity to spotlight the organization that gives these awards, and share a simple way to support the Broomfield Community Foundation with net rewards for dozens of local non-profits - many of which may touch your own life.
The Broomfield Community Foundation was created in 1993 by a group of local officials, business people and private citizens who identified five areas of concern: education, the arts and humanities, human services, senior services, and civic projects. The idea was that pooling charitable contributions from across the city would ensure there would be financial support for our Broomfield non-profit groups that provide numerous necessary activities and services.
Grants have been awarded by the Foundation every year since 1994, and since its inception more than $5 million has been distributed. These grants are only used for programs and services that help the community of Broomfield. I want to tell you about iGIVE365 which is just one of the Foundation’s Giving programs, and as the name implies, is a giving opportunity of $1 per day to support the Community Impact Fund which helps meet the greatest, most pressing needs in Broomfield.
100% of every donation to this program goes directly into the Foundation's annual grant cycle and funds more than 60 nonprofit organizations directly serving Broomfield. Participants commit to a $30+/month recurring donation or an annual gift of $365. I have been part of this program for many years and it is a small thing that gives me pride and helps me feel more personally knitted to the beautiful fabric of our community.
It is a giving opportunity that deserves highlight. By design, the potential for impact is extraordinary. With a current estimated Broomfield population of approximately 78,000, if just 1% of residents participated, iGIVE365 would generate $284,780 per year. That would be $569,560 at 2%. Those are some significant dollars.
I try to be generally thankful everyday. Everyday I am thankful to be part of Broomfield. If you are too, check out https://www.broomfieldfoundation.org/ and see the Giving tab. You can learn more about iGIVE365 and all of the Foundation’s Giving programs and community outcomes.
Thank you to the Broomfield Community Foundation and its staff, board, and community of supporters, and as always, thanks for reading,

Imoved to Colorado
from Minnesota the fall after I graduated from college. I wanted to try something new and thought I would give it a year and move back if I didn’t like it. Thirty years later … I guess you can say I love it here!
Sadly, after having lived here this long, I feel like I haven’t taken advantage of all that Colorado has to offer in the summer (or winter, spring, or fall for that matter). We always leave the state for vacations. It’s my goal to see more of what Colorado has to offer as time permits. In the meantime, here is a list of things that will be fun for anyone to do this summer that doesn’t take much effort at all.
Have you tried Yoga on the Rocks at Red Rocks Amphitheater? It’s a magical way to start your day. Imagine watching the sunrise over the city in almost complete silence with thousands of others. It literally takes your breath away. I did this once with my daughter when she was young and I still hold that memory close to my heart. I need to get off my butt and go do that again with her this summer. Not into yoga? Catch a movie at Red Rocks. A full list is on their website.
Do you support farmers markets? There are so many good ones around Broomfield and Boulder … and Denver if you are willing to make the drive. It’s so good for the environment to shop local and the taste of the fresh produce is unlike anything the supermarket can provide.
Did you know that Colorado is known for its wildflowers? There are so many hikes you can take to see the beauty. Try visiting Crested Butte this summer when wildflowers are at their peak in June to mid-July. They even have a wildflower festival at the beginning of July! The peak season for the rest of the state is typically July to August.
How about trying a full moon paddle board adventure? www.rockymtnpaddleboard.com
offers a two and a half hour full-moon kayaking and paddle board trips for the whole family on both Cherry Creek and Boulder reservoirs. This is a high priority on my bucket list this summer.
Another activity I want to try this summer is whitewater tubing down Clear Creek in Golden. You can rent a single or double tube at Adventure West and walk it up the river and then float down. It’s not a lazy ride … it can be fast and rough but that is half the fun! Renting a double tube is harder to flip so grab a friend and check it out. Afterwards you can stop at the Golden Mill for beers, cider, and food; it overlooks the river so you can watch others float down the stream.
I’ve always wanted to take a scenic train ride, taking in Colorado’s beautiful scenery. There are several to choose from including the Royal Gorge Route, Georgetown Loop Train, and Durango Railroad. You can even hop on the Amtrak in Union Station downtown Denver and ride up to Winter Park for the day. It takes about two hours to get there and costs around $44 per person. I could go on and on with so many more suggestions. Google summer in Colorado and see what sounds fun to you. Take advantage of the beauty that is out your back door. Happy summer!
P.S. – I can’t stop … one more … Botanical Gardens concerts in the gardens. Bring a picnic. Google for details!

Keep Broomfield’s Stormwater clean!
Keep landscape material out of the gutter. Have it delivered in your driveway or find a staging area on your property when conducting landscaping projects.
Landscaping material (rocks, compost, dirt, etc.) deposited in the curb and gutter can get washed away in stormwater runoff. Storm sewers discharge directly into creeks, streams and ponds untreated. It is illegal and a violation of the Broomfield Municipal Code to dispose of or allow materials other than stormwater to discharge into the storm sewer system.
Those eager to have a central gathering place nearby are closely following the Broomfield Town Square development, in what is promised to be an energized new downtown for our community.
The Town Square will be located on approximately 39-acres east of Main Street and north of 1st Avenue. The lead designer for the Town Square is Civitas and the development team includes Milender White and City Street Planners.
The pedestrian-focused district will include a Town Square, performance areas, a public park and plaza, a water feature, an area for a farmer’s market, community gathering spaces, interactive public art, and dwelling units including plans for affordable housing.
Since the proposal became public, there has been talk throughout the community of whether the city and the developer will make use of the abandoned Safeway structure. Yet contrary to what some residents may think, the Broomfield Town Square Alliance project won’t forego the former grocery store, but rather, will include the
building, explained Broomfield City and County manager Jennifer Hoffman.
The plans call for refurbishing the vacant Safeway building located nearby on the south side of 1st Avenue, cleverly incorporating its 60,000 square feet into what may be dubbed the Broomfield Central Market. The market will have a mix of chef-inspired culinary concepts and local retailers. Essentially, it will be a food hall, explained Hoffman.
At the April 23, 2024 Broomfield City Council meeting, the developer gave a presentation assuring the group that the project remains on track, with construction expected to start in spring 2025 and the food hall conceptual plans being completed during winter of 2024/2025, according to developer documents.
Joe Vostrejs of the Broomfield Town Square Alliance appeared before the City Council at the April 23 public meeting to provide an update on the status of the Town Square development. As part of the comments, Lynne Merwin, planning manager with the City and County of Broomfield, explained that they are right where they expected to be in proceeding with the development.
Additional details about the proposed project outlined on the developer’s website include:
• A swimmable/fishable fouracre community lake with a public beach and boat house and paddle board and boat rentals
• Approximately 50,000 sq. ft of retail and restaurant uses, including locally owned and outdoor dining concepts
• Up to 818 residential units phased over time in mixed-use buildings. There will be +/- 500 units in the early phases north of E. 1st Avenue and townhomes along Main Street. Residential units will help support the retail and restaurant space provided
• Connections to the existing trail network in the area and a lakeside promenade
• Room for the potential future expansion of the Broomfield Library/ Auditorium facility on the east side of the expanded lake.
For the environmentalists among us, be assured that the population of Canadian geese inhabiting the existing pond will be humanely managed and the water will remain safe and clean.

As I ambled along the Lake Link Trail nearing dusk a couple weeks ago, I saw a coyote creeping through the nearby tall grass toward a gaggle of watchful geese. How strange, I thought, these geese are oddly out of place. But more than that, I experienced happiness, too, at having such amazing surroundings to enjoy. Like so many others, I feel fortunate to live here.
With the intent of building upon the 2005 version of its Master Plan, the City and County of Broomfield has completed a refresh of the Open Space, Parks, Recreation, and Trails (OSPRT) Master Plan, in addition to refining the 2016 Comprehensive Plan goals for Open Space, Parks, Recreation, and Trails. Extensive 2022 community engagement contributed to the update.
According to the City and County of Broomfield website, feedback was gleaned via a combination of focus group discussions, community events, a survey, and conversations with diverse populations to elicit information throughout the update process.
The plan was adopted by City Council in February and will serve as a 20-year policy document for Broomfield staff, elected officials, citizen advisory committees, and the community to help guide decisions regarding Open Space, Parks, Recreation, and Trails.
“Broomfield trails are well-maintained and easy to walk on,” explained longtime resident Teryl Fabry. “And the wildlife you see when you’re out on a walk on the trails is awesome.”
The Vision of the OSPRT Plan states: The OSPRT Plan
Open Space and Trails Advisory Committee (OSTAC) meetings are the fourth Thursday of each month from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in various locations. Visit openspace@broomfield.org for more information.
will preserve and enhance those special places that are the Heart and Soul of Broomfield. The Heart is represented by parks and other civic spaces that bring Broomfield together as a community. The Soul is represented by the open spaces and trails that provide contemplation and appreciation, whether viewed from afar, experienced close at hand, or near to home.
The Heart and Soul of Broomfield provides a strong sense of unity, pride, and identity. They should be enhanced, preserved, and celebrated.
The Plan includes these five goals: Goal #1 Create connected public spaces Goal #2 Establish a strong community image
and identity
Goal #3 Ensure equitable distribution of facilities
Goal #4 Develop a proactive approach to meeting future needs
Goal #5 Maintain strong stewardship of open lands
As Broomfield is nearing its admirable 40% Open Lands Goal, the updated plan enhances existing strategies that protect and preserve Broomfield’s open space, parks, trails, natural resources, and recreational amenities for the coming years.
“There
The updated OSPRT Plan shares the 2016 Comprehensive Plan’s core values of social responsibility and equity, environmental stewardship, and economic security and opportunity. Collectively, these core values build a solid foundation for Broomfield’s OSPRT Plan by providing unique places for current residents of Broomfield and future generations.
“There are so many great park options for kids and so many wonderful trails to walk on offering amazing views,” Fabry said. I agree.
At various community meetings during the refinement process, CCOB staff shared an overview of current
trails, planned trails, and the criteria for trail creation. Based on those meetings, the updated OSPRT Plan includes a six-point action plan of recommendations:
• Land acquisition and dedication
• Park and Recreation facilities
• Open Space
• Trails
• Municipal code revisions and policies
• Management and maintenance
These action items provide clear steps forward with objectives, details, responsible departments, a status, and a timeline in helping to achieve OSPRT goals.
Ask anyone else in the community and they will tell you Broomfield successfully connects public spaces via paths and greenways in providing continuous green spaces throughout the community benefiting wildlife, enhancing recreational experiences, and increasing Broomfield’s walkability. It’s all a part of the Plan.

One thing we all love about Broomfield is the amazing variety of community non-profits and Sunshine Home Share is one of the latest to receive grant funding from the City of Broomfield. The unique initiative not only addresses the challenges of housing but also fosters a sense of community and companionship. Sunshine Home Share, a one-of-a-kind program, aims to match individuals seeking affordable housing with those who have extra space in their homes, while creating a mutually beneficial living arrangement. Since starting here in Colorado in 2017, Sunshine Home Share has been making waves, not only in alleviating housing pressures but also in nurturing meaningful connections among its participants.
Broomfield, like many other regions across Colorado, finds its residents struggling with the growing issue of housing affordability. With rent prices soaring and the limited supply of housing units, finding suitable accommodations can be an uphill battle, particularly for seniors and individuals on fixed incomes. In response to this crisis, Alison Joucovsky, Executive Director of Sunshine Home Share, offers a beacon of hope, facilitating mutually beneficial living arrangements that surpass traditional housing options.
Sunshine Home Share operates on a simple yet profound premise: connecting individuals with spare rooms in their homes to those in need of affordable housing. The process begins with a comprehensive application, where both parties provide detailed information about their preferences, lifestyle, and expectations. Using this data, the program accurately matches compatible individuals based on their profiles and needs, ensuring a harmonious living environment for all parties involved.
For those looking to possibly play the role of hosts, Sunshine Home Share offers not only financial help but gives them someone who can help around the house with everyday tasks. By opening their homes to someone in need, hosts not only generate supplemental income but can also experience the joy of companionship and mutual support. Many of the hosts find fulfillment in providing a safe and nurturing environment for their housemates, fostering
a sense of purpose and community within their homes.
Broomfielders looking for a place to live but finding it tough financially can gain access to affordable housing in a supportive and welcoming environment. Besides a roof over their heads, they can find comfort in the companionship and assistance provided by their hosts, along with the joy of helping their host around their houses. Living within a shared household can offer opportunities for social interaction and emotional support, which can be vital for those facing tough life transitions. Through shared meals, activities, and everyday interactions, Sunshine Home Share roommates forge genuine bonds that rise above the traditional landlord-tenant relationships. By fostering connections and nurturing community spirit, the program embodies the essence of compassion and solidarity that defines Broomfield.
The Broomfield Farmers' Market at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church kicks off its 14th season this June, and the organizers are extending a warm welcome to the Broomfield community. The 2024 season officially begins Tuesday, June 11, and runs every Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm through September. This year promises to be a lively one, with a staggering list of vendors setting up shop alongside local food trucks. Weekly musicians and other family-friendly activities join the vendors to make your weekly visit fun for the whole family.
In addition to beautiful summer produce, the market offers a refreshing variety of vendors to supplement your shopping. In years past, everything from fresh roasted chiles to pasture-raised meat, and oils and vinegars to sweet bakery treats, could be found within the culinary cornucopia.
The Broomfield Farmers’ Market is wholly volunteer-operated and aims to serve the Broomfield community while connecting residents with local farmers. While Holy Com-
forter is the sponsor of the market, they are also committed to returning proceeds from the market back to the community.

The Taste of Broomfield, now called Broomfield Area Bites & Brews, is back.
“We have a new location and a refreshed name, and we’re expecting this year’s event to be better than ever,” exclaimed Pat Monacelli, Broomfield Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO.
“We had to move the event because of the closure of the 1stBank Center. Due to the nature of the event, we need an indoor space, and there is not another indoor venue in Broomfield that can both hold 8001000 people and accommodate outside food and beverage,” said Monacelli.
Because the Blue Sport Stable in Superior is a Broomfield Area Chamber member and meets the event specifications, it is a great choice, he added.
“The move to a venue outside of Broomfield prompted the name change. ‘Taste of Broomfield’ seemed to not be a good descriptor anymore, and ‘Taste of the Broomfield Area’ is a little clunky. So, we went with a name that still has the Broomfield identifier, encompasses the area around Broomfield, and rolls off the tongue easier,” he explained.
Thus, the Taste of Broomfield has morphed into Broomfield Area Bites & Brews.
Participants get to enjoy bite-sized dishes prepared by an all-star lineup of talent from area restaurants serving up tasty attractions that reflect their signature style. Local breweries and distilleries will offer tastings as well.
Because alcoholic beverage samples are available, the Chamber requests that you

ather’s Day is just around the corner and WeatherTech is here to help you out! One of my husband’s favorite things he has bought for his truck are his WeatherTech floor mats. Laser-measured to fit his truck perfectly, it didn’t matter how muddy those soccer cleats were or how much of the field came inside the truck on a hunting trip, his WeatherTech FloorLiners were up for the challenge. Sure we all know that WeatherTech sells floor mats to protect your car, but it also sells much more. WeatherTech has products for your home, office, and pets, as well as products for your car.
WeatherTech has been around for decades and the company’s dedication to quality is widely known. WeatherTech is devoted to making high quality products that are designed, engineered, and manufactured in America. The company is dedicated to helping build the American dream by using American materials and by manufacturing here, WeatherTech helps small businesses and local communities while producing a high-quality product.
There are only two physical WeatherTech stores and we are lucky to have one right here in Broomfield. You can’t miss the beautiful building on Wadsworth near HWY 36, that houses the showroom. The store is filled with knowledgeable staff and an installation center on site. While you shop or wait for your car, you can take a load off at the in-store café offering complimentary coffee and pastries.
WeatherTech believes in providing customers with highly trained sales specialists that offer world-class service and lifetime warranty on their products.
WeatherTech’s development center is located in Illinois and that’s where creative minds come up with great designs. Using sophisticated tools they are able to reverse engineer the car’s geometry to get the exact surface for the floors, or cargo areas. It takes a team of engineers, R&D, marketing, product designers, and tool manufacturing to all come together to make the best product for our busy lifestyles. WeatherTech is also committed to environmental sustainability through responsible manufacturing and by employing the best engineering practices the company can control waste and recycle all unused raw materials including aluminum, steel, rubber, paper, and cardboard.
Some of WeatherTech’s interior automotive products include floor mats, cargo trunk liners, sunshades, phone holders, and seat protectors for the inside of your car. For the outside of the vehicle, the company makes protective accessories like window deflectors, truck bed liners, mud flaps, car covers, and bug deflectors. Home products include comfort mats, tablet holders, indoor and outdoor door mats, boot trays, and
even a Christmas tree mat.

Editor’s Note: Each month Our Broomfield Magazine profiles different members of the community. The goal of Our People: Meet “insert name” is to introduce Broomfield change-makers and highlight their contributions. Following is a recent conversation with Fran Milner.
ABOUT FRAN MILNER:
Fran moved to Broomfield in 1985 from Michigan via Aspen. Her older sisters went to CU and she admits that each time she visited, she lost weight and fell in love. But working as a ski instructor on Buttermilk Mountain did not pay the bills, so she relocated to the Front Range and worked for more than 35 years as the art director for a book publisher in Boulder.
Q. Share with us a little about your volunteer work and how you spend your free time since retirement.
A: With a career in graphic design and a love for the arts, I volunteered on the Broomfield Public Art Committee for several terms. I designed the PAC logo and signage for the art pieces we bought for the city and created several printed pieces promoting art in Broomfield. I also hand draw greeting cards under the moniker “Just Bearly Cards,” and I’m doing graphic design work for a non-profit that supports at-risk children. In my spare time I love skiing and golfing with my husband. These two sports have taken us all over the United States.
Q. What is your favorite Broomfield restaurant and park?
A: Tu’s Kitchen. The selections are flavorful and the portions are enough for three meals. Chef Thuy Le, the former owner of Boulder's iconic Chez Thuy, brought the delicious Vietnamese to Broomfield. My favorite park is Ruth Roberts because it is right out my back door, so my neighbors and I walk most days.
Q. Who is the most interesting person, past or present, you’ve met in our community?
A: Ryan Aweida. Right out of college, Ryan developed Go Sports at the Aweida barn off of Aspen Street. He was a great influence/mentor for the young athletes in our community.
Q. Besides continuing with your artistic hobbies, do you have a favorite television show?
A: Any show that involves outdoor adventure. Free Solo, Full Circle, Dawn Wall, 14 Peaks, Valley Uprising, and Aftershock are some of my favorites.
Q. What advice would you offer to people living in or relocating to Broomfield?
A: Take advantage of the great outdoors/open space Broomfield has. We have several pieces of public art along the walking trails, a sculpture park, and check out the nesting eagles near Stearns Lake.
Q. What current or former local business makes you nostalgic about our community?
A: I miss Old Chicago. After a soccer game at Broomfield High School, the parents and players would meet there for pie. And a shoutout to Boss Printing. When I worked on JAM and the Broomfield High School Sports Gala, owners Tim and Laura often donated their printing services for these events.
Q. What is something you enjoy most about your hobbies/family/travels?
A: That they are very active and athletic. My hobby these days is teaching mogul skiing to women at Winter Park on the weekends, yet both of my adult kids are out-skiing me! My daughter does full-time ski patrol and my son still does forward flips off of giant jumps. Yes, my ski bum days have come full circle. When my husband and I travel, we bring our golf clubs and hiking shoes. These are the go-go years!
Q. What is something interesting about you that most people don’t know?
A: I was in a Miller Beer Commercial that was filmed on Aspen Mountain in the early 1980s.
Q. Who inspires you to be a better person?
A: My mom. At 96, she is still creating paintings, getting commissions for her work and just had a successful gallery show. She’s still very active in her church and community in Holland, Michigan. My home is filled with her artwork.
Summer food is light and easy because most of the time when it’s hot out you don’t feel like cooking (or eating). Here are a few recipes to keep in your back pocket when you don’t want to cook and desire a cold meal. These three are always in our summer rotation.
Ingredients:
• 2 pounds ripe quality tomatoes, cored and roughly chopped (about 3 large)
• 1/2 medium cucumber, peeled and roughly chopped
• 1/2 red bell pepper, roughly chopped
• 1 tablespoon minced shallot
• 1 small garlic clove, peeled
• ¼ cup olive oil
• 2 tablespoons sherry vinegar (or red wine vinegar)
• ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
• ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
Directions:
Place all ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth. Taste and adjust salt as needed.
Refrigerate until cold, about 2 hours, or up to 3 days before serving. Serve topped with additional chopped veggies, a drizzle of olive oil, and toasted bread.
Ingredients:
• 3 ripe tomatoes (heirloom or regular)
• 1 ripe peach, peeled, pitted and sliced
• as much fresh goat cheese as you like
• small handful fresh thyme, basil, and chives; washed and chives chopped
• 1 tablespoon peeled and diced shallots
• equal parts extra virgin olive oil and Granny Smith Apple Balsamic Vinegar (from Williams-Sonoma); or white Balsamic and/ or champagne vinegar
greensnchocolate.com
• salt and freshly ground pepper
Directions:
Slice the tomatoes and lay them on a platter. Slide the peach slivers in and around the tomatoes and then sprinkle the goat cheese, herbs and shallots all over the top. In a small bowl, whisk together the oil and vinegar and season well with salt and pepper. Drizzle all over the salad and enjoy!
Ingredients for Ceviche:
• 16 large raw prawns—peeled, deveined, and very finely chopped
• Salt and freshly ground pepper
• 1 red onion, finely chopped
• 2 tomatoes, deseeded and finely chopped
• 4 sprigs flat-leaf parsley, leaves picked and finely chopped
• 2 sprigs fresh tarragon, leaves picked and finely chopped
• 2 sprigs fresh mint, leaves picked and finely chopped
• 1 medium-heat red chile, deseeded and finely chopped
www.lowcarbingasian.com
• 1 ripe avocado—halved, pitted, peeled, and sliced, for serving (optional)
• toast or boiled new potatoes, for serving (optional)
Ingredients for Dressing:
• 4 garlic cloves
• 8 peppercorns
• 3 1/2 tablespoons chicha or dry cider
• 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
• 1/4 cup olive oil
Directions:
Put the finely chopped prawns in a bowl and season with salt. Add the red onion, tomatoes, herbs, and chile and stir to combine. Set aside.
Next, make the dressing. Put the garlic in a mortar with the peppercorns and a pinch of salt, then pound with the pestle until the pepper is crushed and the garlic is well mashed. Tip this mixture into a small bowl and add the remaining dressing ingredients. Stir together thoroughly, pour the dressing over the prawns, and stir thoroughly again.
Allow to sit for 10 minutes, then serve on toast or with boiled new potatoes and an addition of ripe avocado slices seasoned with salt and pepper (avocado and prawn make a great pair).
AdventHealth Avista was recently designated as an Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Center of Excellence from DNV Healthcare. DNV is an international certification specialty company, certifying healthcare facilities all over the globe, including specialty areas such as orthopedic and neuro/spine programs.
AdventHealth Avista is a premier destination for total joint replacement surgery, including hips, knees, ankles, feet, and shoulders; and for spine surgery including decompressions, fusions, and disc replacements. The orthopedic team implements the absolute highest standards in quality, patient safety, technology, and the latest best-practice guidelines to ensure optimal surgical outcomes.
The designation of “Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Center of Excellence,” has only been given to 12 hospitals worldwide, 11 other hospitals in the United States, and AdventHealth Avista is the first facility in Colorado.
The orthopedic and spine program at Avista is committed to clinical excellence in every aspect of patient care and experience. The requirements to earn this designation are lengthy and include having things such as detailed policies, documentation, data collection, reporting, and overall compliance from every department including: pre-op, post-op, pharmacy, sterile processing, PT,
OT, surgery, specialized Joint and Spine nurses, anesthesia, dietary, X-ray, respiratory, clinical documentation, joint/ spine camp, care management, and many more.
“Our joint and spine team meets at least monthly to review our processes and work together on program improvements for staff, patients, and caregivers,” said Joint and Spine Program Coordinator, Monica Smith. “We initially achieved standard certification in 2012 so as a hospital we strive to exceed expectations from our patients, caregivers, and surgeons. We began the process over one year ago to meet even higher standards for this advanced certification and Advanced Center of Excellence designation.”
AdventHealth Avista has earned the trust of physicians who rely on them to provide their patients with the best care possible. Their surgeons have the tools and resources they need to perform successful surgeries, ensuring patient safety, outcomes, and satisfaction from every angle. In fact, Avista is often the preferred choice for physicians when they have complex or high-risk patients, because this is where things are done excellently. This is largely because we adhere to the strict and rigorous standards that DNV sets.
This designation and the various steps that are required for it also greatly matter to insurance companies. Insurance companies want to make sure that their patients get great care with minimal complications and risks.
At AdventHealth Avista, patient care is a team sport as we prepare our patients and their caregivers for their procedures to help make recovery as successful and easy as possible. Presurgical consults and education from nurses, dieticians, therapists, and physician assistants optimize healing and recovery. While the patient is in the hospital, their teams work seamlessly to provide whole person care to get patients back to living life to the fullest.
