TPMS: More Than Hot Air

What could be more important than the tires on your vehicle? Everything relies on that contact patch about the size of y o u r h a n d t o m a i n t a i n c o n t r o l . Improper inflation can change that in a n i n s t a n t M o s t b l o w o u t s o c c u r b e c a u s e t h e t i r e i s u n d e r i n f l a t e d o r overloaded, both causing the tire tem perature to rise beyond its working range, ultimately failing Passenger vehicles have had federal require ments to install TPMS since late 2007. This means that nearly every one on the road shouldn’t have a good reason to have a blowout Then why does it still happen?

The primary reason for contin ued tire failures is typically a mal f u n c t i o n i n g o r m a l f u n c t i o n i n g TPMS system “TPMS sensors typically need to be replaced every three years and are recommended to be replaced before they fail,” states Lily Chen, CUB’s TPMS Manager. “During tire changes is ideal as the additional labor is minimal.”

NHRA Champion Antron Brown Warns Congress That Motorsports Is at Risk

Just days after winning the prestigious NHRA U S Nationals Top Fuel Race in Indianapolis, Ind., Antron Brown made his way to Washington, D.C., to urge Congress to pass the SEMA supported R e c o g n i z i n g t h e P r o t e c t i o n o f Motorsports (RPM) Act On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, the three time Top Fuel world champion who began his r a c i n g c a r e e r n e a r l y 4 0 y e a r s a g o appeared before Congress to share per sonal stories about the need for federal law to protect grassroots racing and tens of thousands of jobs in the motor sports parts industry.

This practice of converting street vehicles into dedicated race vehicles h a d g o n e u n q u e s t i o n e d u n t i l 2 0 1 5 w h e n t h e E n v i r o n m e n t a l P r o t e c t i o n Agency (EPA) issued a draft ruling stat ing that it is not legal to convert pro duction vehicles into dedicated race vehicles.
