Foodie Engineers His Own Career with Smoked Seasonings

‘Thank You’ from The Big Cheese

Getting laid off from his Silicon Valley job might have been the best thing for Kirk Wells. He had followed his father into the world of engineering, but then took the path of his mother, a baker, although along a more savory route. In 2014, Wells decided he needed to create a smoker for seasonings, which he manufactured in his garage. His smoked seasonings were soon in high demand from his circle of friends. Eventually, started selling his seasonings online and in farmers markets and built larger capacity smokers so he could produce his seasonings on a larger level. Whiskey Oak Seasonings are created in small batches with high-quality ingredients, Wells says,

AM: The pandemic proved to be one of the toughest times in business I’ve ever been through. However, as the smoke cleared, we were able to continue our endeavor to produce the best specialty fresh mozzarella products we could. Working with the buyers who fought so diligently to keep the shelves filled with product, working hand-inhand with them, overcoming impossible obstacles – I applaud all of them for their efforts and their astonishing work.
