Woohoo! You’ve got a new team member – how exciting!
As a sponsor, your role isn’t about being a boss; it’s about being a mentor, a cheerleader, and an all-around superstar guide.
Right from the start, it’s key to make sure they understand that they’re stepping into the world of self-employment – meaning they’re the boss of their own business They get to decide how many hours they work, how many clients they take on, and how big they want to grow.
The golden rule? The more they put in, the more they get out! Your job is to inspire, support, and encourage them to build a business that works for them.
As a sponsor, you’ll be their guiding light!
Here’s what that looks like:
Give them a warm welcome – Make them feel pumped to get started
Guide them through their training – Help them get to grips with all the essentials (including the Essentials Training!)think of it as a VIP tour of The 1:1 Diet world!
Be their business bestie – Encourage them to set goals and dream big
Answer questions like a pro – Point them to the best resources and keep them feeling confident
Keep them inspired – Whether it’s a quick check-in, a motivational nudge, or just being there to say, “You’ve got this!”
Show them how to manage their stock, rotate it and offer to help with stock swaps if they need different flavours
Lead by example – Show them what’s possible with commitment and consistency
Set boundaries and match commitment – Offer as much support as they need, but ensure they match your level of commitment. If they’re putting in the effort, you’ll be there every step of the way. If not, remind them that this is their business, and success depends on what they put into it.
Now, onto them! Here’s what they need to know:
They’re in charge of their own success – This is their business, and they get to shape it however they want
Make sure they’re fully legal! – As a self-employed
Consultant, they’ll need to register with HMRC, ICO, and their local council, as well as having the necessary insurances in place. This keeps everything above board and protects them and their business
Learning is key – Training, resources, logging into the Learning Hub and networking will help them grow
Clients come first – Delivering top-notch customer service is the secret to a thriving business
Don’t take knock-backs personally! – Not everyone will say yes, and that’s okay. Rejections and setbacks are part of the business. Over time, they’ll learn how to handle them with confidence and resilience – and remember, every " no " gets them closer to a " yes"!
