En el sur de España, concretamente en las provincias de Cádiz y Málaga, (P.N. Alcornocales y P.N. Sierra de Grazalema), vive el menor de los cérvidos de la Península, el Corzo Morisco. Debido a su hábitat ha evolucionado y se ha seleccionado de forma natural una raza o ecotipo de corzo andaluz propio de las sierras de Cádiz y Málaga que hacen de estas poblaciones locales autóctonas de Corzo en el sur de España significativamente diferentes morfológicamente de otras formas europeas de la especie; así, aparecen diferencias importantes a nivel genético según estudios realizados que confirman esas diferencias poblacionales.
In southern Spain, in Cadiz and Malaga, at the Natural Park of the Acorns and at the Natural Park of Grazalema lives one of the smallest deer of the Iberian Peninsula, the “Moorish” Roe Deer. Because their habitat has evolved and undergone natural selection, the Andalusian roe deer, the ecotype of Cádiz and Malaga, has seen the Roe Deer become significantly different morphologically from the other European forms of the species. There are also significant differences at the genetic level according to studies that confirm these population differences.

El corzo Andaluz, presenta un dimorfismo sexual más marcado (diferencia de tamaño notable entre macho y hembra). Los pesos del corzo morisco de los Alcornocales varía en machos de 20 a 25 Kg, y de 16 a 22 en hembras, mientras que la altura media a la cruz es de 65 a 75 cm en machos y de entre 63 y 71 cm en hembras, lo que los convierte en los menores del conjunto de las poblaciones europeas de la especie.
The Andalusian roe presents a marked sexual dimorphism (noticeable size difference between male and female). The weight of Moorish roe deer varies between 20-25 kg in males and between 16-22 in hinds, and the average height are 65-75 cm in males and between 63 and 71 cm in hinds, making them the smallest roe deer of all the European populations.
