to serve a dish for 4 people and place it in the middle of the table. The second restaurant (open from mid-May until 31st August) plays the card of contemporary Japanese gastronomy, thanks to its chef, Toyofumi Ozuru from the Kinugawa restaurant. In Paris, Kinugawa is the place to be and, on the Croisette, fans of Japanese food applaud his arrival. For the Majestic Barrière Hotel’s beach, he is a valuable asset who surprises and seduces, through both the visual aspect and taste. Aesthetic, but also ecoresponsible – let’s not forget that − the beach is preparing to experience its first Festival in grand style.

For Jean-Philippe Nuel, the ambition was not to imagine an amazing beach that could only be described with superlatives but rather “to create a world that’s loaded with meaning and emotion.” The meaning originates in the city of Cannes, an “inspiring” city, and in the Majestic Barrière Hotel itself, as a bearer of a history that’s strongly linked to the world of cinema. As for the emotion, it remains invisible but so very palpable. Only one professional had the expertise to make them a reality. Here, Jean-Philippe Nuel – whose name is already behind the decor of many luxury hotels and cruisers – has associated natural materials with other highly technological ones; he has broken the area into sections to make it more convivial, and designed a protective cocoon that opens out onto the exterior and the infinite Mediterranean. First, the 2,600 m2 beach became home to a metal infrastructure that weighs over a hundred tons and can be completely dismantled, as required by the new provisions of the French Coastal Act. Then... a wave of something totally new swept over the place. Now, the wooden flooring meets the Corian surface of the bar, which is lit up from the inside. The ceiling is part canvas and part glass. The organization of the area is marked out by sheer curtains, which move at the slightest breath of air. Wide mirrors installed at the back of the room turn into incredible light recuperators. This omnipresent light plays with the palette of pale shades (sand and white) chosen to match the blue of the sky and the sea. And then, inevitably, and as an echo of the 2,500 photos adorning the walls of the Cannes hotel, the Majestic Barrière Hotel’s beach presents black and white photos of film stars, as a testimony to the time when those VIPs were within its walls. VIPs will have their own area, as will youngsters, who will be delighted with their Diwi corner and its games. The legendary pontoon, deemed to be the most beautiful in this seaside resort, offers its visitors moments of escape, practically in the open sea. Whether you want to take it easy or enjoy water sports, the Majestic Barrière Hotel’s beach has much to offer its clients; you can choose from parasailing, water skiing, wakeboarding, pedal boating, tubing, or − the latest addition − paddling. If you like to take trips out at sea, you can take advantage of the many boats the hotel can make available to you; these include an offshore Monte Carlo 30 thanks to which you'll be able to go from Monaco to St-Tropez in record time.

Much more than a simple private beach, the Majestic Barrière Hotel’s beach is a privileged location where you can have a great time in convivial surroundings. Two quite distinct restaurants (open midday and evening) contribute to the charm of the place. La Plage – Majestic Barrière, headed by Maryan Gandon, offers Mediterranean cuisine in an atmosphere that encourages exchange. Here, as in La Petite Maison de Nicole, they’re happy
