In the two last decades, Portuguese music has undergone its most productive period ever. Never before have so many composers created and constructed their works within a wide aesthetic spectrum, and neither have there been so many concerts and festivals in which this music was and is presented, both in Portugal and abroad. It is in this spirit of true renaissance that Ensemble Darcos is proud to release on CD four works by some of the most striking composers of today. Though primarily focused on the great western classical repertory of chamber music, from the late baroque to the first half of the 20th century, for Ensemble Darcos the commissioning of new works from Portuguese composers is of fundamental importance and has become second nature.

Music cannot cease to be composed; it is like a thirst which needs to be slaked. In the global context in which we live, in which cultural “contaminations� are the only certainty of the day, aesthetic freedom is the path which shines most clearly. These four works, each in its own way and with its own individuality, reflect this same creative position, and make of freedom an existential affirmation.

Daniel Davis (b.1990) has proved himself one of the most notable composers of the younger generation. He was a pupil of Sérgio Azevedo and António Pinho Vargas at the Escola Superior de Música in Lisbon, where he is finishing his master’s degree under the supervision of composer Luís Tinoco. In 2014 he won the SPA/Antena 2 Composition Prize for young musicians. His music concentrates on resonance, the exploration of atmospheres, and shows a refined timbral sensitivity. Ensemble Darcos is one of Portugal’s most prestigious chamber groups. It was Founded in 2002 by Nuno Côrte-Real, and varies from duos up to 15 musicians, centred around Filipe Quaresma, Reyes Gallardo, Helder Marques and Gaël Rassaert. The group is regularly joined by guest musicians including cellist Mats Lidström, violinists Massimo Spadano, Giulio Plotino and Junko Naito, violist Ana Bela Chaves, and percussionist Miquel Bernat. It regularly works with important Portuguese singers such as Eduarda Melo, Luís Rodrigues, Dora Rodrigues, Lara Martins and Job Tomé.

Since 2006, Ensemble Darcos has had an artistic residency in Torres Vedras, launching the Darcos Season concert series in 2008.

Significant concerts include the Magnus Hall in Berlin, St John’s Smith Square, London, and regular participation in the Dias da Música in Lisbon. In summer 2014, the group performed in the International Music Festival of Póvoa de Varzim.

Nuno Côrte-Real is regarded as one of Portugal’s most important composers and conductors. His works have been premièred at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, the Purcell Room, London, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, New York, Siglufirdi Festival, Rejkiavik and the Casa da Música in Oporto. He is the founder and artistic director of Ensemble Darcos, and the artistic director of the Temporada Darcos concert series in Torres Vedras and Lisbon. He has collaborated with several international music festivals, and has conducted soloists including Artur Pizarro and Domenico Codispoti amongst many others. In 2003 he was awarded the Silver Medal of Cultural Merit by Torres Vedras City Hall.

Nas duas últimas décadas a música portuguesa viveu o seu mais intenso momento produtivo de sempre: nunca antes tantos compositores criaram e edificaram as suas obras dentro de um amplo espetro estético, nem tão pouco houve, na sua história, tantos concertos e festivais onde essa nova música foi e é apresentada, tanto nacional como internacionalmente. É neste espírito de verdadeira renascença, que o Ensemble Darcos tem o orgulho de editar em CD quatro obras de alguns dos compositores mais marcantes da actualidade. Apesar de estar principalmente focado no grande reportório da música de câmara ocidental, do Barroco tardio à primeira metade do século XX, para o Ensemble Darcos a encomenda de novas obras a compositores portugueses tem uma importância fundamental e constitui, como que, uma segunda natureza.

A música não pode deixar de ser criada, é como a sede que urge ser saciada; no contexto global em que vivemos, onde as «contaminações» culturais são a principal certeza do dia a dia, a liberdade estética é o caminho que se apresenta mais luminoso.

Estas quatro obras, cada uma à sua maneira e com a sua própria individualidade, refletem essa mesma postura criativa, e fazem da liberdade uma afirmação existencial.

A «música contemporânea» representa hoje um fenómeno

(Carrapatoso). Não é pois de estranhar que, paralelamente às

In den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten durchlebte die portugiesische Musik ihre bisher produktivste Periode. Niemals zuvor schufen so viele Komponisten ihre Werke in einer ästhetischen Bandbreite wie heute, und niemals zuvor wurde diese Musik in so vielen Konzerten und Festivals innerhalb und außerhalb Portugals zur Aufführung gebracht.

Dieser Geist einer wahren Renaissance macht das Ensemble Darcos stolz darauf diese CD mit vier Werken einiger der bemerkenswertesten Komponisten der Gegenwart zu veröffentlichen. Obwohl das Ensemble sich primär dem großen Kernrepertoire der abendländischen klassischen Kammermusik, vom Spätbarock zur ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts, widmet, so empfindet das Ensemble Darcos es als fundamental wichtig um neue Werke portugiesischer Komponisten in Auftrag zu geben, und diese Praxis ist dem Ensemble mittlerweile in Fleisch und Blut übergegangen.

Musik kann nicht aufhören komponiert zu werden; es verhält sich wie mit einem Durst, der nicht gestillt werden kann. Im globalen Kontext unserer Gegenwart, in der wir uns einzig der kulturellen “Verschmutzung” sicher sein können, ist die ästhetische Freiheit ein hell erleuchteter Pfad. Auf ihre eigene Art und Weise reflektieren die hier vorliegenden vier Werke allesamt diese kreative Meinung, und bejahen existenziell die Freiheit.

“Zeitgenössische Musik” bezeichnet ein Phänomen, das so vielseitig und

beschäftigt haben. Sowohl der Dialog mit der Tradition, als auch mit anderen

divers ist, dass der Name selbst problematisch erscheint. Ursprünglich wurde

musikalischen Welten und der Erinnerung an sich, ist ein wichtiges Merkmal ihrer

Sie suchten nach einer eigenen Sprache, die der Musik die menschliche Dimension zurückgeben würde.

Carrapatoso, Azevedo, Côrte-Real und der junge Daniel Davis (*1990) sind sich einig, dass es notwendig ist die “zeitgenössische Musik” von jener negativen

Eurico Carrapatoso (*1962) ist einer der bedeutendsten Komponisten Portugals der Gegenwart, dessen Werke häufig inner- und außerhalb Portugals aufgeführt werden. Die Dimension und Qualität seines Werkes, die Weisheit und Deutlichkeit seiner Schreibweise, die Subtilität seiner Orchestrierungen, sowie die poetisch-lyrischen Eigenschaften seiner Kompositionen haben das Publikum bezaubert. Obwohl er bei zwei der bedeutendsten portugiesischen Avantgardisten der 1970er und 1980er Jahre, Constança Capdeville und Jorge

Nuno Côrte-Real is regarded as one of Portugal’s most important composers and conductors. Gaël Rassaert a graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse of Lyon (CNSMD), and of the Utrecht School for the Arts in the Netherlands, Gaël Rassaert studied in France with Claire Bernard and Elisabeth Balmas, then in the Netherlands and in Germany with Philip Hirshhorn and Charles-André Linale.

A laureate of chamber-music competitions (Guidel, Privas, Fnapec), he has benefitted from the teaching of the Ysaÿe, Fine Arts, and Amadeus quartets, and from that of such musical personalities as Menahem Pressler and György Kurtag.

He plays regularly with such orchestras as the Orchestre National de Lyon and the Opéra National de Lyon, while leading a carreer as a chamber musician, principally in trio and quartet formations. With the Quark Trio and the Rassaert Quartet he has performed in numerous festivals in France, Spain, Portugal, England, India, Sri Lanka, North America, Venezuela, Caraïbes Islands, Pakistan, and Korea.

He is regularly invited to play with the Portuguese Ensemble Darcos, whose musical director is the composer Nuno CorteReal.

Showing a particular interest in contemporary and new music, since 2007 he is the leader of the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain (direction : Daniel Kawka).

In addition Gael Raessart began studying period instrument performance in 2004, leading him to play today with such ensembles as the Atelier des Musiciens du Louvre, and the Ensemble Unisoni.

Leader of the Orchestre Chalon-Bourgogne from 2002 to 2005, today he dedicates a large part of his activity to the musical direction of the Camerata du Rhône, a string ensemble performing without a conductor, that he founded in March 2004.

Helder Marques born in Torres Vedras in 1975, Helder Marques began his musical education at the Music School “Luís António Maldonado Rodrigues”, where he studied with Maria Christina Pimentel. In 1996, he finished his piano bachelorship at the Superior Music School of Lisbon with Professor Jorge Moyano. He finished the degree of licenciate with distinction (July 2002) at the Robert-SchumannHochschule Düsseldorf (Germany), where he studied with the brazilian pianist Roberto Szidon.

Helder Marques attended to several masterclasses (technique and interpretation) by Dimitri Bashkirov, Ralf Nattkemper, Dimitri Paperno e Richard MacMahon, among others. His special interest for chamber music gave him the possibility to work with the pianists João Paulo Santos, Nuno Vieira de Almeida and Siegfried Mauser, the cellists Johannes Goritzki and Nikolaus Trieb, the violinist Ida Bieler and the conductor Mark-Andreas Schlingensiepen.

During the school year 1998/99, Helder Marques studied in Prato (Italy) with Pietro De Maria, always under the guidance of the pianist Maria Tipo, with a scholarship from the Gulbenkian Foundation. Besides, he’s a regular scholarship student of this institution since 1986.

He has performed in concerts in Portugal, Germany, Japan and South Corea, both as a solo pianist, as well as in chamber music ensembles and has been working regularly with the choir of the São Carlos Theater (the National Opera Theater), the Orchestrutopica, among other ensembles and solo musicians.

He has been frequently invited to work as a vocal coach/ correpetiteur in singing masterclasses, namely with Gundula Janowitz and the International Summer School for Singers (organized by Operaplus).

In 2006, he performed the concert for two pianos and orchestra by Carl Czerny with the Portuguese Symphonic Orchestra under the conduction of Yaniv Dinur.

From 1997 to 2007, Helder Marques teached at the Gregorian Institute of Lisbon, and from 1993 to 2007, at the Music School “Luís António Maldonado Rodrigues” in Torres Vedras.

He is a member of the Darcos Ensemble.

Filipe began his musical studies in Covilha, Rogério Peixinho, at EPABI. He followed his musical studies in London at the Royal Academy of Music with David Strange and Mats Lidström, and later in Florence, Scuola di Musica di Fiesole with Natalia Gutman. He also participated in master classes with Colin Carr, Zara Nelsova, Frans Helmerson, Anssi Karttunen, Jian Wang, Eliaz Arizcuren, Marcio Carneiro, Luis Sá Pessoa, among others.

He won first prizes in several national competitions such as Young Musicians Award - RDP Antena 2, Julio Cardona International Competition - Covilha, and he received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Royal Academy of Music and Suggia Scholarship.

In 2010 he obtained the Prize of the Scuola di Valter Boccacini Musica di Fiesole. From 1998 to 2001 he played with the European Union Youth Orchestra, having had the opportunity to perform in the major European concert halls, as well as to work with the most prestigious conductors such as Sir Colin Davis, Vladimir Askehnazy, Mariss Janssons and Bernard Haitink.

Filipe is principal cello of the Baroque Orchestra of Casa da Música and cellist of Ensemble Darcos. He is also principal invited cellist of the Remix Ensemble Casa da Música, Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble and Oficina Musical.

Filipe Quaresma has performed solo with the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, Drumming Percussion Group, Gulbenkian Choir, Baroque Orchestra Casa da Música, Remix Ensemble Casa da Música, Orchestra Filarmonia das Beiras, I Maestri Orchestra, St John’s Smith Square, London, among others. In November 2013 he was invited to play with Sir John Eliot Gardiner’s Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, and to participate in the recording of an album dedicated to Beethoven’s symphonies.

In addition to already having featured in all the major concert halls of Portugal, and regularly integrate the programming of the main Portuguese music festivals, also played in London, Barcelona, Strasbourg, Paris, Antwerp, Madrid, Rome, Florence, Vienna, Berlin, Amsterdam, Cologne, Zurich, Luxembourg, Brussels, Tokyo, Caracas. With the Remix Ensemble CdM, in 2011, Filipe played at the Wiener Festwochen (Vienna) and, in 2012, at the Strasbourg Music Festival and the Berlin Philharmonic. It is also with the Remix Ensemble that he has several recordings with works by N. Corte-Real, J. Peixinho, Jorgensen, E. Nunes, A. Pinho Vargas, P. Dusapin and L. Francesconi. The recording dedicated to Dusapin deserved the highlight of Gramophone magazine and was a Critics Choice for 2013.

Filipe works with the most acclaimed Portuguese and foreign contemporary composers, with the aim of expanding the cello repertoire. In 2014 he released his first solo album “Portuguese Music for Solo Cello” exclusively filled with works of Portuguese composers, including “Labirintho” by C. Azevedo and “Quasi Ostinato” by R. Ribeiro, works dedicated to him. This recording gained the best national and international critic. Filipe Quaresma is a professor in Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo do Porto, and holds the prestigious title ARAM (Associate of the Royal Academy of Music).

Reyes Gallardo was born in Corunna where she began her musical studies at age 6. In 1995 he obtained the violin top title in the Music Conservatory of A Coruña, where she studied among others with Laura Quintillán, Eduardo Sánchez-Zuber, Massimo Spadano. In 1996 part to Holland where she studied with Chris Duindam, Johan Kracht and Misha Furman completing her degree in violin in May 2001 at the Conservatory of Rotterdam. That same year is admitted to the Conservatory of Amsterdam Swelink to hold a postgraduate with Professor Kees Koelmans. Between 2008 and 2010 she studied viola with Ana Bela Chaves.

She has collaborated with various orchestras and groups like the Symphony Orchestra of Galicia, Concero Rotterdam , Milano Classica, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Remix Ensemble working with the most outstanding musicians such as Viktor Liberman, Daniel Harding, Osmo Vänskä, James Jud, Peter Rundel among others. Between June and December 2002 was part of the Algarve Orchestra where she was leader of the second violins. Since 2002 it is part of Ensemble Darcos group residence in the municipality of Torres Vedras.

Her interest in early music led her to study baroque violin with Professor Kees Koelmans.

She has worked with musicians like Enrico Onofri, Laurence Cummings, Fabio Biondi, Chiara Bianchini, Jap ter Linden, Antonio Florio, Harry Christophers, Andreas Staier among others.

It is part of Divino Sospiro Orchestra ( Lisbon )and the Baroque Orchestra of Casa da Música ( Porto ) where is head of the second violins. She plays with various groups as Ludovice Ensemble ( Lisboa ), Baroque orquestra of Milano Clásica ( Milano ), Músicos do Tejo ( Lisboa ), Bonne Corde (Lisboa ) among others.

Reyes Gallardo was scholarship from “Fundación Pedro de la Maza Barrié” (A Coruña) and the “Diputación de A Coruña” during the years 1997,1998 and 1999.

Nuno Côrte-Real tem vindo a afirmar-se como um dos mais importantes compositores e maestros portugueses. As suas obras têm sido tocadas no Concertgebouw em Amsterdam, na Purcel Room em Londres, na St. Peter’s Episcopal Church em Nova York, no Siglufirdi Festival em Reikiavik, e na Casa da Música no Porto. Dos agrupamentos e orquestras que têm tocado a sua música destacam-se o Remix Ensemble, Royal Scottish Academy Brass, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Coro Gulbenkian, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Orquestra do Algarve, Orquestra do Norte, Orchestrutopica, e solistas e maestros como Lawrence Renes, Julia Jones, Stefan Asbury, Ilan Volkov, Kaasper de Roo, Cristoph Konig, David Alan Miller, Paul Crossley, John Wallace, Mats Lidström, Paulo Lourenço e Cesário Costa.

Em Junho e Setembro de 2007 apresentou as óperas de câmara A Montanha e O Rapaz de Bronze, encomendas da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian e Casa da Música. Em Março de 2011, apresentou no Teatro Nacional de São Carlos a ópera Banksters.

Como maestro, Nuno Côrte-Real tem dirigido a Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Orquestra Fundación Excelentia, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Orquestra do Norte, Orquestra do Algarve, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orchestrutopica, Orquestra Sinfónica I Maestri, e Camerata du Rhône. É fundador e diretor artístico do Ensemble Darcos, e assina artisticamente a Temporada Darcos, série de concertos em Torres Vedras e Lisboa. Tem participado em vários festivais internacionais de música, e dirigido solistas tais como Artur Pizarro e Domenico Codispoti, entre muitos outros. No ano de 2003 foi-lhe atribuída a medalha de Mérito Grau Prata da Câmara Municipal de Torres Vedras.

Gaël Rassaert diplomado pelo Conservatório Nacional Superior de Música e Dança de Lyon e pelo Conservatório de Utrecht (Holanda), Gaël RASSAERT estudou em França com Claire Bernard e Elisabeth Balmas, e com Philip Hirshhorn e Charles-André Linale, na Holanda e na Alemanha, respetivamente. Laureado em concursos de música de câmara (Guidel, Privas, Fnapec), usufrui dos ensinamentos pelos quartetos de cordas Ysaÿe, Fine Arts e Amadeus, e de personalidades do mundo da música como Menahem Pressler ou György Kurtag.

Helder Marques diplomou-se com distinção em 2002 na Alemanha (Robert - Schumann - Hochschule Düsseldorf ), tendo estudado com o pianista brasileiro Roberto Szidon.

Bolseiro da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian durante todo o seu percurso académico, estudou em Torres Vedras na aula da Professora Maria Christina Lino Pimentel, em Lisboa com o pianista Jorge Moyano e em Prato (Itália) com Pietro De Maria.

Frequentou cursos de aperfeiçoamento orientados por Dimitri Bashkirov, Ralf Nattkemper, Dimitri Paperno, Pedro Burmester, Sequeira Costa e Richard MacMahon. No campo da música de câmara e, em particular, do Lied, trabalhou com os pianistas João Paulo Santos, Nuno Vieira de Almeida, Siegfried Mauser e Christian de Bruyn.

Colaborou com o Coro do Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, OrchestrUtopica, Acarte, Teatro Aberto e Opera Plus, entre outros.

Tem-se apresentado em recitais a solo, com orquestra e de música de câmara em Portugal, bem como em França, Alemanha, Coreia do Sul e Japão.

Em 2009 concluiu o Mestrado em Artes Musicais – Canto e Acompanhamento – na Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. É pianista do Ensemble DARCOS, com o qual mantém atividade regular no campo da música de câmara.

Gravou em direto para a Rádio Alemã de Berlim e para a Antena 2.

Leciona piano na Escola de Música “Luís António Maldonado Rodrigues” de Torres Vedras e é pianista acompanhador no Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa.

Foi agraciado com a medalha de “Mérito e Dedicação” pela Associação de Educação Física e Desportiva de Torres Vedras no ano de 1991 e em 1997 recebeu a medalha de mérito “Grau Prata” do Município de Torres Vedras.

É regularmente convidado por formações como a Orquestra Nacional de Lyon e a Ópera Nacional de Lyon, e tem mantido uma carreira de músico de câmara, apresentando-se em trio e quarteto (trio Quark e quarteto Rassaert) em numerosos festivais em França, Espanha, Portugal, Inglaterra, Índia, Sri Lanka, Estados Unidos, Venezuela, Paquistão e Coreia. É regularmente convidado pelo Ensemble Darcos, em Portugal, cujo diretor musical é o compositor português Nuno Côrte-Real. Denotando um interesse muito especial para a música contemporânea e a nova criação musical, participa regularmente como violino solo principal do Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain de Lyon, com direção musical do maestro Daniel Kawka.

Paralelamente Gaël RASSAERT realizou uma especialização em música antiga no ano de 2004, que o leva atualmente a tocar com conjuntos como o Atelier des Musiciens du Louvre (Grenoble), ou ainda o Ensemble Unisoni.

Foi concertino principal da Orquestra Chalon-Bourgogne (entre 2002 e 2005), e consagra hoje uma grande parte da sua actividade à direção artística e musical do ensemble de cordas Camerata du Rhône, grupo que fundou em Março de 2004.

Iniciou os estudos musicais na Covilhã, tendo como primeiro professor de violoncelo Rogério Peixinho na EPABI. Mais tarde estudou violoncelo em Londres, na Royal Academy of Music com David Strange e Mats Lidström, e em Florença, Scuola di Musica di Fiesole com Natalia Gutman. Participou também em masterclasses com Colin Carr, Zara Nelsova, Frans Helmerson, Anssi Karttunen, Jian Wang, Eliaz Arizcuren, Márcio Carneiro, Luís Sá Pessoa, entre outros.

Obteve primeiros prémios em vários concursos nacionais tais como Prémio Jovens Músicos – RDP Antena 2, Concurso Internacional Júlio Cardona – Covilhã, e foi bolseiro da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Royal Academy of Music e Suggia Scholarship. Em 2010 obteve o Prémio Valter Boccacini da Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. Ainda no seu período académico integrou a Orquestra de Jovens da União Europeia, tendo tido a oportunidade de se apresentar nas principais salas de concerto europeias, assim como de trabalhar com os mais prestigiados maestros, tais como Sir Colin Davis, Vladimir Askehnazy, Mariss Janssons e Bernard Haitink. É primeiro violoncelo da Orquestra Barroca da Casa da Música (CdM) e violoncelista do Darcos Ensemble. É violoncelista principal convidado do Remix Ensemble CdM, Sond’Arte Electric Ensemble e Oficina Musical. Já se apresentou a solo com a Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Drumming Grupo de Percussão, Coro Gulbenkian, Orquestra Barroca CdM, Remix Ensemble CdM, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, I Maestri Orchestra (St John’s Smith Square), entre outras. Em Novembro de 2013 foi convidado para integrar a Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique com Sir John Eliot Gardiner, com a qual já gravou um disco dedicado às sinfonias de Beethoven.

Para além de já se ter apresentado em todas as principais salas de concerto de Portugal, e de integrar regularmente a programação dos principais festivais de música portugueses, também já tocou em Londres, Barcelona, Estrasburgo, Paris, Lyon, Antuérpia, Madrid, Roma, Florença, Viena, Berlim, Amesterdão, Colónia, Zurique, Luxemburgo, Bruxelas, Tóquio, Caracas, entre outros. Nesse mesmo ano é admitida no Swelink Conservatório de Amsterdão para realizar uma pós-graduação com o professor Kees Koelmans. Entre 2008 e 2010 estudou viola com Ana Bela Chaves.

Tem colaborado com diversas orquestras e agrupamentos como a Orquestra Sinfónica de Galicia, Concerto Rotterdam, Milano Classica, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Remix Ensemble trabalhando com os mais destacados músicos como Viktor Liberman, Daniel Harding, Osmo Vanska, James Jud, Peter Rundel entre outros. Entre Junho e Dezembro de 2002 formou parte da Orquestra do Algarve onde foi líder dos segundos violinos. Desde 2002 faz parte do Ensemble Darcos grupo em residência do Município de Torres Vedras.

Nuno Côrte-Real zählt zu den wichtigsten Komponisten und Dirigenten Portugals. 2007 wurden seine Kammeropern A Montanha und O Rapaz de Bronze bei der Gulbenkian Stiftung und in der Casa da Música aufgeführt. 2011 wurde die Oper Banksters im Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lissabon uraufgeführt.

Als Dirigent hat Nuno Côrte-Real die Königlich-Galizische Philharmonie, das Orchester der Excelentia Stiftung, das Lissabon Metropolitan Orchester, das Algarve Orchester, das Orchester des Nordens, das I Maestri Symphonieorchester, das Metropolitan Akademieorchester, das Beiras Philharmonische Orchester, Orchestrutopica, sowie die Camerata du Rhône geleitet.

Er ist der Gründer und künstlerische Leiter des Darcos Ensembles, sowie der künstlerische Leiter der Temporada Darcos Konzertserie in Torres Vedras und Lissabon. Er arbeitet regelmäßig mit internationalen Musikfestivals zusammen, und dirigierte namhafte Solisten wie z.B. Artur Pizarro und Domenico Codispoti. 2003 erhielt er die Silbermedaille für kulturelle Errungenschaften der Stadt Torres Verdras.

Gaël Rassaert ist Absolvent des Conservatoire National Supérieur Musqiue et Danse in Lyon (CNSMD), sowie der Utrechter Hochschule für die Künste in den Niederlanden.

Er studierte in Frankreich bei Claire Bernard und Elisabeth Balmas, und danach in den Niederlanden und Deutschland bei Philippe Hirschhorn und Charles-André Linale.

Als Preisträger von Kammermusikwettbewerben (Guidel, Privas, Fnapec) profitierte er vom Unterricht der Ysaÿe, Fine Arts und Amadeus Quartette, sowie von musikalischen Persönlichkeiten wie Menahem Pressler und György Kurtag.

Gaël tritt regelmässig mit Orchestern wie dem Orchestre National de Lyon und der Opéra National de Lyon auf, und hat darüber hinaus eine aktive Karriere als Kammermusiker, primär im Trio- und Quartettverband. Sowohl mit dem Quark Trio, als auch dem Rassaert Quartett war er in zahlreichen Festivals in Frankreich, Spanien, Portugal, England, Indien, Sri Lanka, Nordamerika, Venezuela, der Karibik, Pakistan und Korea zu hören.

Er wird regelmässig eingeladen mit dem portugiesischen Ensemble Darcos zu spielen, deren musikalischer Leiter der Komponist Nuno Corte-Real ist.

Aufgrund seines ausgeprägten Interesses an zeitgenössischer und neuer Musik leitet er seit 2007 das Ensemble Orchestral Contemporaine (Dirigent: Daniel Kawka).

Zusätzlich begann Gaël Rassaert sich 2004 für historische Aufführungspraxis zu interessieren, was dazu führte, dass er mittlerweile mit Ensembles wie dem Atelier des Musiciens du Louvre und dem Ensemble Unisoni auftritt.

Von 2002 bis 2005 war er Konzertmeister des Orchestre Chalon-Bourgogne und widmet mittlerweile einen großen Teil seines Schaffens der Leitung der Camerata du Rhône, einem Streicherensemble, das er im März 2004 gründete und das ohne Dirigenten auftritt.

Helder Marques wurde 1975 in Torres Vedras geboren und erhielt ebenda seine erste musikalische Ausbildung an der “Luís António Maldonado Rodrigues” Musikschule, wo er Unterricht von Maria Christina Pimentel erhielt. 1996 schloß er sein Bakkalaureat als Pianist an der Musikhochschule Lissabon bei Professor Jorge Moyano ab. Weiters schloß er das Lizenziatstudium an der Robert-Schumann-Hochschule in Düsseldorf, wo er beim brasilianischen Pianisten Roberto Szidon studierte, mit Auszeichnung (Juli 2002) ab.

Helder Marques nahm an mehreren Meisterkursen (für Technik und Interpretation) bei u.a. Dimitri Bashkirov, Ralf Nattkemper, Dimitri Paperno und Richard MacMahon teil.

Sein besonderes Interesse für Kammermusik veranlasste ihn mit den Pianisten João Paulo Santos, Nuno Vieira de Almeida und Siegfried Mauser, den Cellisten Johannes Goritzki und Nikolaus Trieb, sowie der Geigerin Ida Bieler und dem Dirigenten Mark-Andreas Schlingensiepen, zusammen zu arbeiten.

Während dem Studienjahr 1998/99 studierte Helfer Marques, dank eines Stipendiums der Gulbenkian Stiftung, in Prato (Italien) bei Pietro De Maria unter Begleitung der Pianistin Maria Tipo. Seit 1986 ist er ein regelmässiger Stipendiat dieser Stiftung.

Als Solist und Kammermusiker war er in Portugal, Deutschland, Japan und Südkorea zu hören, und tritt regelmässig mit dem Chor des São Carlos Theaters, dem Orchestrutopica, sowie anderen Ensembles und Solisten auf.

Helder wird oft eingeladen um als Gesangscoach/ Korrepetitor an Gesangsmeisterkursen teilzunehmen, nämlich von Gundula Janowitz und der Internationalen Sommerschule für Sänger (organisiert von Operaplus).

2006 spielte er das Konzert für zwei Klaviere und Orchester von Carl Czerny mit dem Portugiesischen Symphonieorchester unter der Leitung von Yaniv Dinur.

Zwischen 1997 und 2007 unterrichtete Helder Marques am Gregorianischen Institut von Lissabon, und von 1993 bis 2007 an der “Luís António Maldonado Rodrigues” Musikschule in Torres Vedras. Er ist Mitglied des Darcos Ensembles.

Er gewann erste Preise bei mehreren nationalen Wettbewerben, wie z.B. dem Preis für junge Künstler - RDP Antena 2 und dem Internationalen Julio Cardona Wettbewerb - Covilha, und war weiters Stipendiat der Calouste Gulbenkian Stiftung, der Royal Academy of Music, sowie des Suggia Stipendiums. 2010 gewann er den Preis der Scuola di Valter Boccacini Musica di Fiesole. Zwischen 1998 und 2001 spielte er beim European Union Youth Orchestra, wodurch er die Möglichkeit erlangte in den bedeutendsten europäischen Konzertsälen aufzutreten und dabei von einigen der angesehensten Dirigenten, wie z.B. Sir Colin Davis, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Mariss Janssons und Bernard Haitink geleitet zu werden.

Filipe ist der erste Cellist des Barockorchesters der Casa da Música, sowie Cellist des Ensemble Darcos. Er ist ebenfalls erster Cellist auf Einladung des Remix Ensembles Casa da Música, des Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensembles und von Oficina Musical.

Als Solist trat Filipe Quaresma mit dem Portugiesischen Symphonieorchester, der Drumming Percussion Group, dem Gulbenkian Chor, dem Barockorchester Casa da Música, dem Remix Ensemble Casa da Música, dem Philharmonischen Orchester von Beiras, dem I Maestri Orchester, St John’s Smith Square, London, und anderen auf. Im November 2013 wurde er eingeladen um mit Sir John Eliot Gardiners Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique aufzutreten und an einer Aufnahme von Beethoven Symphonien teil zu nehmen.

Zusätzlich zu seinen regelmäßigen Auftritten in den wichtigsten Konzertsälen und Musikfestivals Portugals, ist Filipe auch regelmäßig in London, Barcelona, Strassburg, Paris, Antwerpen, Madrid, Rom, Florenz, Wien, Berlin, Amsterdam, Köln, Zürich, Luxemburg, Brüssel, Tokio und Caracas zu hören. Mit dem Remix Ensemble CdM spielte Filipe 2011 bei den Wiener Festwochen, sowie 2012 beim Strassburger Musikfestival und der Berliner Philharmonie. Ebenso nahm er mit dem Remix Ensemble Werke von N. Corte-Real, J. Peixinho, Jorgensen, E. Nunes, A. Pinto Vargas, P. Dusapin und L. Francesconi auf. Die Aufnahme mit Werken von Dusapin wurde von Gramophone hervorgehoben und wurde zum Critics Choice 2013 gewählt.

Filipe arbeitet mit den angesehensten portugiesischen und ausländischen zeitgenössischen Komponisten daran, das Cello Repertoire zu erweitern. 2014 veröffentlichte er sein erstes Soloalbum “Portugiesische Musik für Cello Solo”, das ausschliesslich aus Werken portugiesischer Komponisten bestand, darunter auch die ihm gewidmeten Werke “Labirintho” von C. Azevedo und “Quasi Ostinato” von R. Ribeiro. Diese Aufnahme wurde sowohl national als auch international wohlwollend von der Kritik empfangen. Filipe Quaresma ist Professor an der Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo do Porto, sowie Träger des angesehenen Titels ARAM (Associate of the Royal Academy of Music).

Reyes arbeitete mit einer Vielzahl von Orchestern und Ensembles wie dem Symphonieorchester Galiziens, dem Concerto Rotterdam, Milano Classica, dem Gulbenkian Orchester und dem Remix Ensemble zusammen, und trat mit hervorragenden Musikern wie Viktor Liberman, Daniel Harding, Osmo Vänskä, James Jud, Peter Rundel, und vielen anderen auf. Von Juni bis Dezember 2002 war sie Teil des Algarve Orchesters und war dort Stimmführerin der zweiten Violinen. Seit 2002 ist sie Mitglied des Ensembles Darcos, das in der Munizipalität Torres Vedras beheimatet ist.

Ihr Interesse an alter Musik verleitete sie Barockvioline bei Professor Kees Koelmans zu studieren. Sie arbeitete mit Musikern wie Enrico Onofri, Laurence Cummings, Fabio Biondi, Chiara Bianchini, Jaap der Linden, Antonio Florio, Harry Christophers, Andreas Staier und vielen anderen. Sie spielt im Divino Sospiro Orchester (Lissabon), als auch im Barockorchester Casa da Música (Porto), in dem sie Stimmführerin der zweiten Violinen ist.

Sie tritt mit einer Vielzahl Ensembles auf, wie z.B. dem Ludovice Ensemble (Lissabon), dem Barockorchester von Milano Clásica (Mailand), Músicos do Tejo (Lissabon), Bonne Corde (Lissabon) und vielen anderen.

Reyes Gallardo war Stipendiatin der “Fundación Pedro de la Maza Barrié” (A Coruña) und der “Diputación de A Coruña” in den Jahren 1997, 1998 und 1999.
