Creative support Christmas performance: Stuck at
Christmas!
Note: Stage Directions (SD)
Note: Whenever Stewart may randomly say Humbug just respond with “Said Scrooge and continue the scene”
NARRATOR ONE:
(SD) Narrator one and two both hold a big book that they will pretend to read from as they narrate the story of, ‘Stuck at Christmas!’. All characters are on stage in a line facing audience using their hands as pillows pretending to be asleep.
It was a frosty winter’s night and all at the christmas mansion were sleeping peacefully.
NARRATOR TWO:
However their sleep was to be disturbed by the ringing of a loud alarm clock!
(SD) Make a loud ringing noise that mirrors an alarm clock, all characters on stage will wake up with a fright!
They all woke up in fright but quickly they all started to smile
because…
ALL CHARACTERS:
IT’S CHRISTMAS!
NARRATOR ONE:
They all yelled with a gleeful shout! Then they ran to the bathroom (SD) All characters run on spot.
To brush their teeth, which they did quickly because they were excited for Christmas lunch.
(SD) All characters brush their teeth frantically on the spot.
NARRATOR TWO:
Then they started to get dressed, even quicker.
(SD) All characters get dressed on the spot, (If possible, it would be really good if each character had one item that represents their character to put on, e.g Santa puts on christmas Hat)
Then they ran down the stairs excited to see all the lovely ingredients they had bought the day before , but when they got there all they could say was:
ALL CHARACTERS:
WHERE IS THE TURKEY?!
NARRATOR ONE:
They all yelled in a panic! The turkey had been stolen and they all looked all
over the room for where it could be worried and frantically.
(SD) All characters search frantically for the missing turkey.
Then they all stopped suddenly!
(SD) All characters immediately stop.
NARRATOR TWO:
It seemed that the Magical Fairy had come up with a plan to use their magic wand to find the turkey.
(SD) The magical fairy pulls out their wand and waves it a little.
Then they said the most powerful spell in a loud booming voice.
THE MAGICAL FAIRY (Michael):
(SD) TMF does three big swings of his wand in the middle of the stage whilst saying the spell.
Bippity Boppity Boo!
ALL CHARACTERS:
(SD) All are shocked then happy to see the turkey back in the middle of stage. IT’S THE TURKEY!
NARRATOR TWO:
They all shouted happily!
(SD) All characters cheer and celebrate. In comes Narrator one as the evil witch cackling and looking menacing.
Oh no but who’s evil cackle is that, drowning out the celebrations… why of course it is the evil witch of christmas. None of the Christmas house people were happy to see her.
(SD) All characters Boo the evil witch.
NARRATOR ONE/EVIL WITCH:
I have come to ruin your christmas that Turkey is all mine! Hehehe
(SD) The Evil witch runs toward the middle and mimes stealing the turkey but a tug of war battle ensues as all the Christmas house characters fight against her.
NARRATOR TWO:
The Evil Witch tried to steal the Turkey but The Christmas House also grabbed it and so a tug of war began. The Evil witch pulled that way and TCH pulled this way, she pulled that way and they pulled this way and with a final big tug she pulled that way once more but all TCH tried their very best with one last pull this way and with a slight struggle they won!
(SD) All characters mime a back and forth tug of war struggle with the christmas house winning and The evil witch fleeing as they all cheer. They all cheered and celebrated once more, they had saved christmas! So they all went to grab their seat at the big dinner feast, they all ate quickly as they were very hungry and saving christmas can always give you a big appetite!
(SD) All characters take a seat on their chair that is lined up in the middle of the stage and to mime eating and laughing together.
NARRATOR ONE:
They all slurped and burped and slumped. Some stole food off others plates and some kept spare turkey in their pockets for later. They all were laughing and enjoying their wonderful lunch when Santa stood up and went to the corner of the room. Everyone in the house was confused.
(SD) All characters look at each other confused.
Then Santa turned around and said:
SANTA CLAUS (Polly):
HO, HO, HO Merry christmas! Here is a gift for all my friends!
NARRATOR TWO:
All the Christmas House cheered and celebrated! And so one by one she gave a gift to one wise man, then two and then three. She also gave a gift to the Elf and one to the Magical Fairy.*
(SD) Santa gives out the gifts from a sack one by one to all characters as they say thank you.
*(If Stewart wants to perform in the play, if not go straight to asterisk below this one)
Then she heard a knock on the door and who else could it be but scrooge but
he was here to give sweets and make friends and so he said:
SCROOGE:
Merry Christmas and here are some sweets!
NARRATOR ONE:
(SD) All the characters cheer. However, sadly Scrooge still decides to spend Christmas at home. (SD) Encourage the audience and characters to awwww. However Santa knocks on his door and gives him a present. All the Christmas house cheers as Scrooge is made happy! (SD) All the characters cheer.
*They are all so happy and full from lunch they all stand up and sing*
ALL CHARACTERS:
We wish you a merry christmas
We wish you a merry christmas
We wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year.
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin. We wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year.
